What do you do with the cutting do you plant them directly into the soil or do you use toothpicks and a glass of water to let them root ? That was a very important aspect that you didn't include in your video .
No chemicals! Use wood-ash and (food grade)diatomaceous earth (both harmless insecticides) & baking soda (fungicide) in solution. Occasionally spray plants as they grow with same solution for chemical free product. Use this process for all your plants, flowers and trees.
Does anybidy know how long a mature harvested yam can stay before cutting it in mini sets. This i ask because the yams have to be imported to my country before preparing them into minisets and putting the in the soil. and which between hot and cold weathers is the favorable for yam farming?
Good afternoon sir please after the woodash what is the name of the other chemical you used before you dried the yam, and I'm also curious about the way you cut the yam so small I thought that the growth and the bumper of your harvest depends on the size of the tuber of Yam you planted, pls Dr I'm interested to more Mrs Eshemokhai
Yes since he doesn't respond to questions I'll help you out. What he demonstrated can never give big tubers. The bigger the heaps and yam setts the better for the tuber to harvest.
Sir, your video just proved that school is scam when it comes to practical aspect. I just watched a video of a farmer who didn't study agricultural science and it's very much educative compared to yours. Also he replies people's comments but you don't reply comments despite knowing that your video is vague.
Thanks for the information, but instead of chemicals being used can you suggest a more biological or rather, organic method of treatment.. for some of us that do solely organic planting, these chemicals used are dangerous for health and will not allow the crop to pass organic testing to be regarded as certified organic crop in the Western world where we plant.
sir if the chemical is safe why you need gloves? sir respectfully you don't need chemical, let us stop poisoning out self, back to all organic organic organic organic foods
Very good. I am impressed. It helped me for an examination tomorrow. I am currently pursuing a Diploma in Agriculture

Wonderful!! I'm surely going to try this out. Thanks for the knowledge 😊 IITA
My pleasure 😊
God bless Nigeria, God bless IITA for this. am proud to be a farmer
What do we do with the dry cut seeds ? It needs to be planted obviously, but we were not told in the video, so the information is incomplete
@Gladys Foster
They did suggest an organic method. Wood ashes.
Stated at 5:12
I was very impressed with the resulting tuber after
Thank you for this presentation/education on Yams
I have always been fascinated with Yams
Are the purple Yams still around
Thank you
The farmers who cannot afford pesticides or other chemicals will be growing organic yams which should sell at much higher prices.
Thsnks Doctor. Very helpful. I have also subscribed for more news from your organisation.

Which one is the best please because I have always been cutting and plant directly.
Thanks
The information is adequate and explicit. thanks

At what time of the year can mini yam set be propagated and planted?
At what time of the year can I grow my mini sett
How do we plant the yam,is it by facing the white part up or face it down wards to the soil
Can I used this cut yam to produce ware yams or I HV to produce seed yams before producing ware yams
Thanks for this information. I’m going to grow some yams here in the States.
Have you started your yam production?
You are so blessed Sir

I see some people using cement to treat their potatoes, can it also be used as an alternative to wood ash.
an ingredient of cement is ash. so perhaps.
After treatment of the yam with wood ash how many days will it take before planting.
How do we plant this?.
Is it on heaps or in a nursery just like tomatoes?.
Thank you for sharing this nice video, Brother👍

Please what chemicals are used to treat the seedlings or cut yam seedlings?
Do we plant the cuttings straight into the soil or it will go through the nursery?
Can I use wood as alone to treat the yam before planting
Yes can
Hello, can i use Snipper alone as chemicals?
Thanks Doc for the video
My question is:
Is the insecticide plus other chemicals as you mentioned healthy when we eat the yam?
Of course it is NOT, go for organic, permaculture!

You won't reply, but I too wish to know a biological way of planting yam. I wish to plant Purple Yam, however. It's probably different.
Waoh thanks

I would think that using a solution, or rather a dilution of neem
oil would work. It is a natural insecticide and fungicide.
elaine abreu neem leave extract and crushed/ blended garlic also perfect
@@sunrisefarm5489 can you show us how it's done
Come to my yam shop bogo on yams limited time
