This is a terrible idea. You'll then get the opposite. Players will play hurt, and risk further injury. You'll get terrible football because somebody got a stinger but don't want to sit out. I am all for figuring out how to prevent fake injuries, but this brute force approach isn't the answer.
Funny, when OU was boat-racing up and down the field with Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray I don't remember Herbstreit making ANY comments on all the teams that pulled this tactic. And it happened ALL the time with those offenses.
I think it has more to do with how much it’s gotten out of hand in the last few seasons. Not sure what you can really do, but if it happens 3-4 times a game, fine. But if you do it 10-15 times in a game, that’s ridiculous
Our TN defense doesnt need the extra breath being referred to. They are so deep and none are ever winded after a game. I do agree ive seen it before but its not something TN is practicing IMO. This needs to be fixed. They need a rule that if you go down, you must miss the next few series for precaution. Then watch this stuff not happen again. I always feel bad saying oh here we go again, bc you might actually have an injured player out there. But when you get right back up and play the next series...im sorry, you should be out a few plays.
The solution is simple: if a player goes down on the field, he can not return to the field until he's cleared by an independent doctor that's on site that would be mandated to do a full battery of tests to ensure that there are no injuries. If it can be proven that the player was instructed to flop by the coaching staff, the university would be fined a million dollars per occurrence.
I say that the player must sit out the rest of the series then if that same player does it again, they sit out the the rest of the qtr and the next qtr. That is the EASIEST rule change to make because it reinforces player safety by giving the player adequate time to be evaluated and also discourages fake injuries. Also only the player that is injured can have a player subbed in for him. If a team attempts to sub in more, then it is an immediate 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct. But they will never make this rule change
Just charge a Timeout for an injury stoppage and if out of Timeouts then have an optional 10 second run off and make the injured player sit out 5 plays. There has to be a punishment for being out of Timeouts and stopping the game.
Here's an idea: have an injury ref (trainer who works for the NCAA) who assesses whether someone is truly injured on "big play injuries". If they aren't, the other team gets a free 15-yard penalty they can apply at any point during the game. That would get rid of this problem very quickly.
USF thought Miami would get gassed because of the temp and humidity but it turned out the other way around, Miami plays in those circumstances constantly
There is no way to tell if it's a legitime cramp, injury, or fakage. So the refs don't need any more judgement calls, like Targeting, to manipulate games. Just punish the team, if they are out of Timeouts, by making that injured player sit at least 5 plays.
With Tennessee's defense this year, that shouldn't be a problem anymore. Difference is we aren't hurting the other team, just helping ourselves lol. I agree with the rule. If they are "injured"they need to sit out. Look at Damar Hamlin. Gotta be careful in these situations because you never know if someone truly is hurt. The faking makes these real injuries hard to detect.
Why? Why do you like the rule that someone has to get hurt, in order to sub in, when the game traditionally permits subs after every play? How is the no huddle rule not the problem?
I think an easy fix would be if they go down with an injury, they need to be out for the rest of that series, and the following one at least. It would first off just make sure the player has time to get seen by the medical staff on the field to ensure they are ok to get back in, and if it is done just to stop play that they have to know they will be off for that series and the next.
Hey a team needs to figure a way to defend this just like the other presents their offense .That's competiton . At least with the offensive lineman doing its minimal.
Nothings going to change if Litrell keeps running up the middle w our 🐕 💩 OL. That’s the worst hire ever. is wayy too early to write Jackson off. Probably transfer to A$M and win the Heisman in Colin Klein offense behind that OL who can play..🤮
@@roris5882 Or they could do away with the silly rule that you have to get hurt to leave the field, given the game traditionally permits subs after every single play. At a minimum, teams should be allowed to do it really fast, like in hockey.
Yeah simple fix is injury or fake injury, the player has to sit out the rest of that series and the next series. So so simple to fix. They still may fake it but the other side may benefit from that player being out several plays in return.
