Typically any rounds that large I always begin with the single wedge to avoid any chance of getting stuck and use the manual lever. I can always add the 4 way later to finish the process. It was good to meet you briefly at the expo, I have the exact version and orange crush color as you. Have fun with the 4.0! obie
Rick, I said it before & I’ll say it again, you & your wife are the King & Queen of the big rounds. Great video & TY for sharing your hard work in a video. Have fun & get splitting. Dave D of Southern Maine.👍
Excellent video. Happy birthday and anniversary. It has been a great pleasure watching your channel. There’s a couple of ways to lessen the labor getting the wedge cleared. The easiest way is the use of a chain. Around the push block and the top of the round. Then back the push block up. If no chain is available, try putting a piece of wood under the back of the round then lower the wedge. Most of the time it will pop the round off the wedge. I have never damaged the cylinder used to lift the doing this. Not sure if this is helpful, but it may save a lot of labor.
Those big rounds are a challenge enough without the knots. It was a real pleasure to meet both of you up in Ohio. I am glad you made the trip. Happy splitting! Jeff
Your two best girls with back to back birthdays! Happy birthday Donetta, enjoy your dinner out. Hit the ground running with the 4.0- beautiful machine. Take care
I really like the ''RICKS NO STACK UNTILL-U-WANT-2 FIREWOOD BUNKER''. but how do you manage and control the SC STATE WOOD RECYCLING INSECT, AKA termites?
Well we have pallets on the ground to keep it off the ground. Termites is not a problem for the firewood. But if you lay pine boards now they will get it
Great video,Happy B day & anniversary. The own way to go is big firewood 🪵 block . I would go with a single wedge and split into 4 pcs between the knots . Them turn over into 4or 6 way wedge . Easy on a little wood 🪵 splitter. 😊
You broke that puppy in fast, that was a huge one. It did its job. Congrats on a beautiful splitter. I watched them load it. That 4 way worked a lot better on the big stuff. My father was in the Air Force and he was stationed in Summerville, S.C. when I was 3, my younger brother was born there. Havn't been back in many years, My parents had friends there for years.
Rick I can them hammer fur firewood 🪵, nothing a pick of chain won’t fix it getting it off your split wedge Rick . 😊remember STICK on the ICE 🧊, SAW in the WOOD 🪵 and RUBBER on the ROAD . 😊
I didn’t find anything my 35 wouldn’t split with 4 way. I wish had a 4 way that would drop all way down so don’t have to take it off. Lot east splitter to single knife some wood.

That big one was a work out for sure. Probably would have went through the four way maybe? Glad to see it in action already, have a good week!
I screw up on that one. 4 knots close together. I should have single wedge it first. Have a great week.
Nice to see the 4.0 up and running 👍

Congrats on new machine. That table extension rattles the audio pretty bad.
I agree totally. Wife and I just discussed that. I’m probably gonna use a bolt and nut to see if that helps keep the rattles down
Wait till you get the conveyor!!! Those bunkers will fill up in 1/2 the time!!

Hello Rick, next time use a chain to get a stuck one off, much easier my friend 👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
