Seriously, she is probably the most responsible for Mandalore's destruction; if she(and the Death Watch clan) didn't try to overthrow Dutchess Satine with Darth Maul's help, then Mandalore( and the several thousand other worlds under Mandalore) would still have been neutral in the war, and the Republic/ Empire wouldn't have any way of invading legally. Keep in mind, Satine kept Mandalore neutral and brought about peace...Death Watch and by extention Bo Katan lead their home to war and subsequent ruin.

You know whats funny, Mando season 1 was never intended to be anything that important. It was a glorified tech demo, meant to show off all the effects and technology that lucasfilm made for their series. It was made to be filler by design to tide viewers over between the more "prestigious" projects. But because Mando had exactly one trick in the form of baby yoda and fans were so starved at the time for anything the seemed passable, Mando season 1 was propelled to a level of notoriety that lucasfilm most definitely didn't expect and that it most definitely didn't deserve. Then we got to see that Kathleen's giant meme wall of all the new pieces of content that were to follow, with things like a boba fett and obi wan show. Various movie projects with aforementioned characters had been trapped in production hell for years, because the creative heads at lucasfilm are a three ring circus that inspire not an ounce of joy. In hindsight the obi wan and boba projects only got out of production hell cause of mandos success, and were desperately rushed out to strike while the mando iron was still hot... and we all know how those turned out. Now all star wars has left is this: a show that was never meant to be anything being torturously stretched out by people without a single creative bone. To say the show is on creative auto pilot would imply that there was ever a direction to begin with, instead of the narrative holding pattern that we have gotten time and time again. What few ideas they have are poorly copied off previous content, akin to feeding random wookieepedia articles into a older writing ai without a shred of wit or context. In other words Star Wars is Over, I haven't even got the urge to watch your guys coverage of it anymore im so numb to it, I can finally rest now.

Worst case scenario (best case for the attacker), the warhammer can even break bones, without ever penetrating the plate armor.

I can suspend my disbelief enough for the statue. The select few who knew what IG-11 include Greef Karga. He is the High Magistrate, he can embellish and propagandize that story however he wants and commission whatever statue he wishes to. It would be better for one throwaway line to clarify this issue, like "This droid single-handedly took out a battalion of stormtroopers. Your High Magistrate was there to witness it. Nevarro's independence is built on its sacrifice." broadcasted on the street. There was an idea there, but it can use a redraft.

People who watched Clone Wars 2008 are groaning over this character's devotion to his cult. Why?
Short answer: They follow the footsteps of Darth Maul's co-conspirators.
Long answer: The cult's name is "Children of the Watch". Based on the fact that the cult survived the purge by staying on Concordia and their name, there is only one conclusion to make: The "Watch" in their name refers to the Death Watch who also made Concordia their hide-out. The Death Watch in Clone Wars 2008 were seditionists, they conspired with Darth Maul to assassinate the incumbent leader of Mandalore during the Mandalorian Civil War arc of the show. People with an eye for details have also spotted the Death Watch symbol on the armor of some Mandalorians during the giant croc fight (Pay attention to the ones who planted explosives on he back of the croc, the symbol is painted white). That's right, SEASON 3 HAS CANONIZED THE THEORY THAT THIS CULT DESCENDED FROM DARTH MAUL'S CO-CONSPIRATORS.

@@user-xx6vy9ri8p Before S3, the connection to the Death Watch has only been very vague and inconclusive. The CotW hiding on Concordia was not even in The Mandalorian proper, it was in Book of Boba Fett iirc. Bo-Katan turning up her nose at Din's cult in S2 could have been for a number of reasons. But the symbol on the armor in S3 was the smoking gun. No more theory, that symbol is as conclusive as it can get.
Clone Wars 2008 viewers are cringing over this because most of the nu-fans that Star Wars acquired through Mandalorian don't even know about this tainted legacy. Filoni's habit of retconning old canon is not new, but neither is his success in constantly fooling new fans.

First of all, the idiot above me is right. That's not what the space whales were about in Rebels.
Secondly, I agree that these particular space whales from Rebels are handled in a cringe way, but the mere *concept* of "hyperspace space whales" was ripped by Filoni from one of like a dozen other sci-fi stories, like Stellaris or even Warhammer 40k.
"Space Whales" have been done probably over a hundred times, and the concept isn't stupid on its own. It only falls apart if the writer doesn't justify HOW the space whales survive out in space or jumbled a bunch of other bullshit in there with how they operate.
Mind you, Filoni did the bullshit "Force Time-Travel" thing in Rebels, so this man is a fool, to say the least, and I am not happy about technically defending him here, but my understanding of *these* "space whales" is just that I remember Ezra's interactions with them being cringe. Which is probably more because *Ezra* is cringe and not actually anything to do with the space whales, themselves.

    • @thundergoat421_6
      @thundergoat421_6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@Eidolon 142 They added them in to give a cringe explanation to how people invented hyperspace. So yes, that is why they were added in. To give a awful reason to explain something that didn't need explaining. Much like "Solo" was made up by some fuckoff officer thanks to Solo Story.
So basically, you came to the same conclusion with more words lol.

    • @eidolon1426
      @eidolon1426 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Thundergoat421 _
Except that if what you said is even remotely accurate, then the whales having hyperspace capabilities has nothing to do with "inventing hyperspace travel" outside of giving some scientist the "inspiration" for it or something like that.
They have basically nothing to do with mechanical hyperspace travel. So I don't know where this inference is coming from.
It's not "stupid" or "cringe" to have some guy in-universe notice an alien doing a thing that's pragmatically useful and saying "I'm going to try to replicate that using technology."
And it's not even cringe as a "canonical explanation of how hyperspace travel was discovered/invented."
Your example of the "Solo" thing is quite drastically far removed from this situation, even if it were to somehow fit in the same category.
I can see vague throughlines you could use to connect these two and lump them into the same basket, but...
Yeah... they go into the same basket the way Adolf Hitler and Gandhi go in the same basket of "human."
Similarities aren't enough to neglect context or severity. Space whales aren't even close to as stupid or cringe as the "Solo" thing.
But regardless, the main point being made is that the space whales themselves can be left alone as a thing in this universe. The "Solo" thing, or the interactions Ezra/sapients in general had with the space whales is something we all agree *need* to be *removed* from the canon.
Like how Mandalorians are fine, but basically everything about them as stated in *"The* Mandalorian" needs to be expunged.
Or like Thrawn from the books we all *want* in this universe, but Thrawn from Rebels we all equally agree must be eradicated from the continuity. We all like the second or third smartest man in the galaxy, we all hate the "Brigadier-General Blueberry Brainrot" who got bitched around by some teenagers.
There's a scale here. A little bit more nuance than just "black and white."

I'd like to say that in Cowboy Bebop, small, one-man ships have enough fuel to travel around a planet but traveling between planets required a travel through the gate. When they're out of fuel they drift in orbit and the pilot pings anyone for refuel in the hopes of getting out of such a situation. You know where this is going so to cut to the chase, in TLJ the Raddus and several frigates don't have enough fuel to travel even though they're a renegade outfit so being on the run is always expected but this shit relic from decades past could travel between systems throughout the galaxy. This is akin to a model T having no trouble in cross-country travel while a delivery truck does. There's no limit to these ships so why not just "modify" an escape pod while you're at it? The audience is dumb enough to eat it anyway, might as well see how far you could take it.

The blacksmith lady swings her hammer, only for the big croc to push her away from the right.
Thing is... What the fuck she was swinging at?! She was facing away from the camera, even slightly turned to the left, but there is NOTHING there. You can't even say at the croc out of frame, because its blow comes almost directly from behind her, so this can only lead me to believe the crew got her swinging at a random direction and then magicked the monster from out of frame to make her fall.

If people don’t see the problem with using the Naboo Starfighter in place of the razorcrest, I will completely lose my faith in the general Star Wars audience. The previous ship was one of very few entirely logical things in mando, and it felt like what you’d expect from bounty hunter. Compare the Swiss Army knife that is the razorcrest to this new abomination that cannot even facilitate a loo. Think about how many prior episodes of Mando would be impossible or comically awkward with an N1 as the hero ship. It’s like the president deciding to conduct foreign policy from an P51 Mustang after Airforce One got blown up instead of any other airliner, because muh nostalgia. Again, if this doesn’t break the Mando spell for most people, I don’t know what will.
On the side, if any Star Wars lore-meister claims that the N-1 services Mando’s needs they are A) incredibly dumb and B) conveniently forgetting a well established fact of Star Wars canon: Starfighters are very slow in hyperspace, hence why many are carried by other ships into battle. The millennium falcon, for example, is incredibly fast in hyperspace, which is why it was so valuable to Han.
Let’s just say a Kessel Run in an A-Wing isn’t going to happen any time soon.

And this was further proven in S03E02. Mando buys a R5-D4 droids from the ship mechanic lady, puts it on the droid shaft of the N1, forcing Grogu to snuggle in the cockpit with him. There is a scene where he suspects unbreathable atmosphere around them and tells Grogu to seal the cradle before he opens the cockpit. Yes, Grogu's cradle somehow found the magical space to fit in the N1 cockpit without interfering with ship controls. How? Don't know. It's all off-camera.

So, about that Croc from the opening:
Why did they not attach bombs to the head if they were already on its back?
Why not use the flamethrower when it's clearly scared of fire and moves away?
Why are they closing the distance when they have blasters and jetpacks?
Why do they not use the rockets on their backs that they are famous for?
Do none of them have any heavier weaponry than blasters and ineffective explosives when all we know about Mandalorians to this point is that weapons are part of their religion and they have a warrior culture?
The answer to these questions and more is: "The writers didn't think about it and expect you to do the same. Just consume product and get excited for next product".
This is also a massive shame because this religious ceremony could have tied into Mando's detachment from the religion due to being an apostate.
Imagine if the gator instead of being a one-off monster was a sort of Mark of Pride and Rite of passage deal. The young Mandalorian being initiated has to lead a hunt to kill it. Mando offers to kill it and be done with it so he can be on his way and do his quest but the cult refuses because the young one has to lead the hunt. The episode then could have been about the values of tradition vs the burdens of doctrine. With people having interesting perspectives on what it means to be a Mandalorian. Mando with his experience of knowing the Galaxy can impart knowledge to the young Mandalorian and the young Mandalorian can remind Mando of the roots of the traditions that he is seeking.
Instead all we get is meaningless spectacle. I would say I was disappointed if I wasn't expecting it by now.

Thank goodness. Cheery EFAP was messing with my internal sense of reality

Heck, Disney Star Wars has been doing that to me for years.
Now, I'm like a 16-year-old after a drunken bender waking up and stumbling around in a haze in a pool of my own vomit surrounded by cops.

Ya know, the talk about how clean the Smithy is? In Film School they repeatedly talk about how people make sets "too clean" because they don't think about how stuff looks when people live there.

So what's Mando's thought process when he decides IG-11 needs to be repaired and come with him? Does he expect the droid to sit on his lap or something? How the hell are all three of them going to fit into that tiny ass Naboo fighter?

It baffles me how dumb the writers are with this episode. IG-11 blew tf up.
“Oh he needs a new memory core.”
Then he’s not going to be the same droid anymore, making Din’s obsession with having THIS droid by his side completely irrelevant.

To answer the question. Yes. The whales are called purgils or something like that. They suck up the gas that is used for hyperdrives, and are able to travel in hyperspace. They were regarded as a annoyance to spacers cause of the ability to fuck up ships
They are what killed thrawn in rebels. All of this was established in rebels

The space-croc vs Mandalorian fight needs to have the Benny Hill theme playing over it.
Edit: I pulled up the Benny Hill theme on TH-cam and set it to play at the same time as this EFAP, starting right as the croc attacks. It actually matches pretty well and makes the whole thing + EFAP reactions more hilarious. XD

I saw the upload and thought you did LOU part 9 early. The disappointment from the realization is the exact same level of disappointment EFAP has going into the episode. It's perfect.
