"Can't sex the robots" Every day we stray further from getter's ray. Jokes aside, I wonder if the guy at 5:59 was actually talking about the whole exclusive mech split mechanic back in the old games or more recently, the one in V.
1st: only monkeys deserving of General Bats blade tries to bring Seggs to the Robots. (It already happened to SD gundam, don’t ask) 2nd: Keep your Will of Getter to yourself, my ocean is the sea of stars.
Tbh on the previous SRWs, depending on the game, you had options for what mecha you would pilot, what upgrades it would get, what bonuses and custom attack names, not to mention other types of customization like sub-pilots and such.
I'm hoping we get more Super Robot Wars games on steam like the older ones i would love to buy them and play them since i ain't gonna pay like 100 dollars on one and then buy a console just to play it
i wish the huckebein upgraded into mk3 then gunner/boxer you know to give it more flexibility to be a melee oriented or a ranged. arguably you could do that but i think even devs realized this limit and released a melee ultimate attack albeit behind a paywall dlc
I just hope given the sales that they decide to celebrate by giving a sale or something. Or just remake all the PS2/3 era games like all of the OG games and lord of elemental games!
@@gembocobo9484 i hope they redo ogg as it has no fantrasnlation what so ever, and it sports some really neat mechs, mayby not at the very beginning but laldabaoth shinka is prob one of the dopest mechs there is
2:00 reads like it's by a non-mecha fan, in which case I'd understand the point. I remember at least one Winkysoft title allowing you to use OG pilots in Mobile Suits and vice-versa. As cool as that is, I think it's because a standard MS is so quintessentially "Real Robot" that piloting one requires no knowledge that only Gundam characters would have. This is reflected by the voice lines in this case being very generic "take this!" fare that can go with any vulcan or beam saber. Something like a high-end Real or *any* Super requires more specific skills and talents, and that's not even getting into series-specific lore that would otherwise prevent it. It's fun as a gimmick, like when DD put Amuro in Mazinger Z for an event, but I think it would be weird if Banpresto actively pursued it.
Some of the animations are clearly CGI Models with (varying quality of) cel shading applied to it, but the issue is more on the ones where the cel shading is done badly. And might I remind the guy that MX ,AP , Alpha 2 and3, and OGs all had entirely CGI sprites as animations, and those where "the great days of the PS2", or whatever. Side note: Considering the existence of Valsione, Angelg, and the Farlions, I think the "Can't sex the robots" guy might be confusing verbs. "Can't FIND sexy robot" might be an appropriate review.
Never noticed if they were CGI or not tbh, but either way they still look great And I just assumed the "can't sex the robots" guy was just trolling lol
the only CGI units thaf i know of is Ultramans, mazinger Z breast fire and Red 5 Burst, no other CGI that i know exist, maybe some of the enemies have but thats bout it
TBH I thought Combattler still looked pretty good as far as the CG animations go. Maybe that's just because of the neat camera angles they used, like Combattler staring down at the enemy as he lumbers towards it. I perfectly understand preferring classical spritework in general, but they made it work for my boy.
To be blunt my biggest issue was no Unicorn Gundam. We could have had the op 3 Unicorns.....but this also has Mazinkaiser given the infinity treatment....sooooo i can sorta forgive them
About the 2 robot, i do wonder why they dont include gespent as alternative, like make a brand new gespent30 that goes more with melee with kick and punch like general kai in ogs Edit: so we can have huckebein30 as long range sniper woth blackhole cannon and gespent30 who just utilize blackhole as sucking mechanism for more punching
I can understand the whole switching mechs deal since the sd gundam games allow you to switch freely with pilots and mobile suits but can also see the whole story reason for not being able to switch everyone to everything
@@Chichaetomate >they're is Do you have any idea how many legal hoops they have to jump through for stuff like that, nevermind actually making _animations_ and _voice clips_ for it.
I quite like SRW30. It is my introduction to not only the franchise, but also most of ther featured series in the game. If not for the characters and mecha, I would never have found Brave Police, GunXsword, or L-Gaim, among others. Sure it has its faults, like having to go into multiple sub menus in order to find out what a particular pilot's skill does, but overall quite fun. And yeah, it was a bit annoying not being able to switch which Huckbein Edge and Az use once both are unlocked, but that is only a minor quibble.
I very much enjoy it too, and it definitely has the most hours out of any of the games for me at over 900 now. The series is a pretty great way to get introduced to other mecha, since it generally doesn't spoil a lot due to the crossover nature, you don't really know what's canon and what isn't. Glad you tried the series out with it!
@@ericx6969 i say its fair due to 30 being the first global exposure to the entire world, most of the titles were just untranslated or just ASIA locked, may not be a great place to start off but it's not the worse either, i would say V woulda be the best SRW to start off
Not being able to switch Az and Edge in the Huckebein isn't unusual honestly, also even though you can get the other protag their "Gift" skill will be locked which is slightly annoying because why lock/hide it when the at point in the story when you get them their past is already revealed
The only animations that look cgi-ish that i can recall is Mazinger Z's Breast Fire and Red 5's full burst transformation sequence. Other than that everything looks like 2d sprites
Mazinger Infinity and the MJP guys make sense because their shows are mainly CGI, everything else is mainly 2D with sparse CGI for some animations as far as I can tell
most of the game animation were drawns and in 2d, it just have a higher details and level that it were a bit clunky at times, It is still a great effort tbh mah not be as flashy as the old chibi sprites but it is a well made animation nonetheless, waiting for the next mainline to be better still tbh
1:24 I remember when I played using keyboard controls, the game would respond to me typing in other windows, which occasionally lead to me wasting a turn.
I haven't gotten too deep into SRW 30 but I've been playing SRW games for 25 years from Gameboy to SNES to PS1 to PS2 to PSP to Vita. They've gotten lazy on the OG models and attacks. It's not that the models are bad. It's just they don't give them enough attacks for my liking and the upgrades are a a little boring. I feel like they haven't done good on this since SRW Z3. Other then that the game is standard for SRW and ok. I wish it was a little bit more challenging like back in the old days and the stories had a little more linking between them like the Alpha trilogy but it's still decent overall.
>He's correct, but still He's not even correct! He says the Huckebein 30 stays with 3 attacks the entire game, which it doesn't - it gets a fourth fairly early, then gets an upgrade with 5 moves, then the upgrade gets another move, and you get a second 30 with 4 moves as well.
I really feel full metal panic /tekkaman detonator/evangelion. Needed way more love. Kinda think they're leaning real hard on gundam . Honestly surprised I haven't seen a build diver yet. And fmp and eva have new season /movie.
I got back to the series due to 30 and I’m having a blast, I did ended up downloading majority of the past titles via emulation and I do have soft spot for portable A that I played back in the day. I don’t know why people are crying about game being too easy, I do play lots of turn based strategy games (AW, FE, DG) and those game takes forever to finish a stage due to being complicated mechanics and SRW is more of mech fantasy game.
The modern (VXT30) SRW games have a lot of a lot of quality of life improvements over the previous games. Anything before V can take a while to run, while V and on, if you really know what you're doing, can all be done in around 2 hours if you're speed running them. I enjoy running through them rather quickly and setting up ridiculous things, really pushing the games to their limits. I have pretty much done that with SRW 30, which is the most broken game in the series due to the power parts in it. I always looked at the recent titles as a mecha power fantasy, destroying everything in sight with your cool robots. Getting wrecked is definitely not something you want with your cool robots lol
Srw 30 is my first srw game and I love it death. However one thing I would like to add to the game is lack of customization for the main character's robot . I think it would be cool if we had like option parts for it or any depth of customisation to it. Like for example, with red 5 we have red 5 and red 5+ . 5+ is better for mobility and if you use the team attacks, but red 5 is slightly tankier and has a better solo move ( I think, i played through the game once in s. expert mode, and in my currently playthrough of super expert mode+)
Like overall I think it would be cool if we could customise the main robo to suit our personal playstyle a bit more. Like give us the ability to make him a ranged bot or a melee focused bot . Yes I know hukbien gets rocher overbreak a melee attack equivalent in power to blackhole, so you can use eighter, but you get that post main game. I want a bot that levels up with us, and we get the option to customise it as we grow. Via transformation feature like the shin getter devolution's one, or optional parts. Or maybe a new tree system, like the AOS updates but for the hukibien or whatever mc robot we get in next game.
Yeah, even V at least had the upgrade option for the Vangray to either go higher mobility or damage. Having a wide variety of optional parts for the Huckebein would've been cool, especially since they do have a lot of variants to pull from as you've mentioned
I just want an srw that ask for my tactical prowess, I’m a sucker for strategy game but I feel like for 95% of footage I see of the game, it’s more about stats than anything else. Also whoever animate theses battle animations? I need to keep track of that genius it’s so damn good
The modern SRW games are definitely far more about the power fantasy of your favorite giant robots, so the games are extremely easy even on the hardest difficulties. Unless you put self imposed limitations (no upgrades, no parts, etc) you can get through with little actual tactics. As for the animator(s), I'm not sure on any specific names, other than an "Arios-san" dubbed that after Z2 for their work on the Arios. Whoever they got internally at BB Studios does great work
If one day I make a game with battle animations like that I NEED to find the peoples that makes srw’s battle animations, they’re truly fantastic to look at.
And also to be honest I think the best 2 graphic wise are Srw z2 saisai hen and hai kai ken. Best mazinger z animations hands down and best version of the breast fire attack for real.
NGL what they did to daizengar and Ultimate Dancouga is peak lazy sprite making. SRW 30 is less about high quality sprite animations and more about flashy cutscene animations of mechs, that's why sprite animations are limited.
Some 20 fps-esque animations are not fun to look at, sure, but I wouldn't fault SRW specifically. There's this weird trend in modern Japanese animation studios that sluggish movements are somehow cooler than smooth animations. Watching Netflix's Ultraman, Mazinger Z Infinity, Getter Robo Arc, or even many singer idol anime sometimes makes my head hurts due to how slow the characters move compared to the ways the camera pans. Still, I fail to see why battle animations need to be that detailed and in-depth to not be "lazy". If anything, the animations have been overdone since SRW Z. All I need to see is whether or not I dodge the attack or hit the enemy. I don't need to see something like 5:25 where Hyoma's crushing Twin Lancer into the enemy and steers the wheel like it's the most intense thing he's ever done, or that persisting tendency where Gundam robots fire several rifle shots at once but only some of them would actually hit the target.
The final boss of the base game was awful when it came to the fps, really hard to look at. The only detailed animations I really care about are the more notable attacks, and that's mainly just to watch randomly on TH-cam or show some friends. With how many series they've done for the VXT30 games, I wouldn't be upset if they reused a lot of the animations for a new trilogy game that goes more in depth story-wise to each series.
After playing through SRT A Portable I kinda wish that there was a mod for SRT 30 that kinda remixes the gameplay mechanics more closely to that version because even the hardest difficulty of 30 is still too easy. I still love 30 but the future installments are looking great since if it adds more indepth plot elements from aldnoah [if it gets in] and gundam IBO [not just a slap on addition] which can be great additions if nadesico gets included again~ There's also the matter of integrating Valkyria Chronicles style elements to gameplay that I'll always want for SRT ever since playing VC 2 and 3 on the psp. gundam gwitch would also be awesome to see added and maybe even armored core and front mission~
Yeah the balance in SRW 30 is kinda non-existent, which I guess shows how much more they appeal to the power fantasy part of controlling your super robots. I'd love to see a SRW in the style of Valkyria Chronicles, I like the gameplay of that series a lot. I hope Nadesico TV gets included instead of Prince of Darkness again, kinda getting tired of the Black Serena tbh lol IBO story would be good to go through, and one of the biggest fixes of the story would be Shino actually hitting the Super Galaxy Cannon. And you know, not having everyone die at the end would be a pretty standard SRW thing to do lol
I love this game, but my biggest complain about it is the original villains. Both the Quaestors and Aos are super boring in my opinion. And having to fight their unmanned mechs so much gets old fast
My only complaint is that the game is too long like when I first got X I finished it in a few days and even if it was less liked over V which is what I wanted in the first place I still loved playing the game till the end, on the other hand I got 30 last Christmas and I'm only now getting to the end game on my first playthrough not because it actually took that long but because I lost the interest to sit down and play the 100+ levels on multiple occasions
There's a ton of stages in the game, around 3/4 of them aren't required in any way. Honestly I would only recommend going through those side and DLC missions once to experience them, then just do the starred missions on subsequent playthroughs, unless you want multiples of certain power parts. The other problem with them is that they're kind of boring. No real substance, bunch of weak enemies spawn and you deal with them. Only the dialogues are the interesting part.
The game being this long isn't new. Anytime SRW that uses non-linear mission lists, i.e. SRW Impact and SRW OE, the games become ridiculously long. The idea is that you're free to take your time and play at your pace instead of rushing through the stages in record times.
i just miss dynamic kill for strongest move man, even in Z2.2 we have many Dynamic kill. why would i watch 1.30 min long animation to see my enemies just het explode slowly like usuall. NO I WANT THEM TO SHATTER. okay that was out of context but you get what i mean.
Not counting OG's and the handheld games, I think the last game to have a choice between atleast 2 was Z, either Gunleon or Virgola. Z2 just had Crowe and the Brasta, and Z3 had Genion V only had the Vangray that upgraded, X had Xelguard, and T had the Tyranado
@@RevoSKL To be fair, in V you had the choice between the VangrayNext and the GranVang. I would count these as different robots, so you even had three in total
Well, A few things. I kinda agree, I love using Grandasher, and its animation is WAY below it should and could. Also, I don't like much the idea of do what you want when you want. I prefer the old system using different routes for gameplay+. And yes, not only we can't sex the robots, but there are lot less choices when comes to bounciness in this SRW. Hope they fix this for the other. Maybe placing Tenchi Muyo. I mean, they put Nadia on X and worked pretty well, so why not?
Personally, I hated the route split. In X two, different series plots were skipped if I wanted to keep my favorite units. Same with V or T. Heck with T, I lose out on two secret units for that reason.
I never played SRW 30 (still waiting for platinum edition or whatever edition including all DLCs but i played the Demo SRW 30 on nintendo switch) but played SRW since like 2003s (alpha, OG, Z series, VTX and so on) In my observation about 30...... Its a bit lackluster, they use the same feature as the previous one like the ExC order. I really miss the tag battle system from Z3 series (extra action, extra PP/money, boost dash and most important is the maximum break feature) and this is mostly prefer than ExC order. 2nd is, well...... I'm happy that they include code geass: lelouch of the resurrection, gun x sword, gundam IBO, sakura wars and so-on...... But, gundam IBO as a DLC??? means there is no story for IBO on SRW....And no barbatos lupus in SRW.... 3rd is...... The dissapointing part is...... why (insert your favorite mecha-anime series) is not included in this srw 30? TBH about the series roster, its either decent or a bit let down IMO. Valvrave IMO should be included in 30 but why in mobile *(ahem SRW:DD)* ? I do understand about the budget for battle animaton on each mecha due to its license and so-on..... Not sure about muvluv total eclipse anime.... hope they include it soon..... One thing that i only liked is the OG mecha itself plus the OG series mecha (dygenguar, SRX, altaisen, etc) and thats it.... Well, that is my opinion about srw 30.......
I'm actually playing the game right now and I definitely have mixed feelings about the game. Overall I still think it's a very enjoyable game, but feel it's a little lacking for a 30th anniversary entry. For me the main issue was the roster for the game. They included some great things into the game to celebrate the franchise, but at the same time made some odd omissions or choices. Like for example I thought it was great how they managed to include the original Gundam into the roster, but not sure why of all Gundam series they chose to focus on was V Gundam. I loved how they included Mazinkaiser as a secret character, even with its theme from the Alpha series, but they didn't bother to include Shin Getter as well? It was great to see Combattler V again in a main series game, but putting Voltes V behind DLC was a HUGE let down. And I dunno, to me Code Geass seemed very out of place in the game and essentially took a spot away from another franchise that would've been better suited this anniversary. And speaking of DLCs, personally I think putting Hi-Nu Gundam behind a paywall was such a dick move. I can kinda understand having to limited the number of series due to overcrowding the roster, convoluting the story, and licensing fees, but putting a unit behind a paywall that used to be a unlockable secret unit is just scummy.
I actually think code geass got underutilized a lot this game. I agree that the focus on V gundam is very weird for 30th anniversary. Like why focus on V and put IBO in as DLC. Actually universal century in general got way too much this game. V gundam narrative gundam zeta and CCA. If the new series addition was going to be universal century they shouldn't have used V imo
@@mr.protagonist5639 Yeah, V Gundam was in the late UC, Amuro and Char would've died of old age years before V Gundam should they survived CCA, Kamille would be a grandpa like Judau from ZZ
GaoGaiGar was underused. Sure, we got its final form for the first time, but the plot from that phase of the source material was just barely touched upon.
V Gundam was probably picked because it first appeared in 2nd SRW and was the first RR series added to the initial roster; 2nd SRW was 30 years before SRW30 and laid a lot of the groundwork that made SRW what it is, like using Banpresto original mecha like Cybuster.

Even after all this time, I still feel heavily mixed on "30". While I can acknowledge many of its decisions were attempts to move the series forward, not everything worked I want to say. With some of the decisions I'd say were even terrible, actively damaging decisions. So much so that past its "SRT" moniker, I don't think I even like "30". Though mainly, the DLC practices is what soured this entry for me the most. I've always been skeptical of the implementation of DLC for this series, especially due to how DLC content is region and account locked making some of it not easily accessible for someone like me, but I always tolerated it since I never felt like I was missing out regardless. Additional missions? Whatever, I can look up the cutscenes online. Additional parts and resources? Would be nice but not necessary. If I could survive through "MK III: Pride of Justice" with its overinflated difficulty without the DLC bonuses, I'm sure I can manage most cases. Early access to units? This is where I start getting skeptical but I still got them either way so whatever. It wasn't until "T" introduced an entire postgame campaign that featured all the OGs of the "VXT" trilogy getting together where I had a hard pause and started getting worried. But that was all reused assets so I tolerated it. But then with "30"...oh boy. Through the DLC, you had literal dozens of exclusive units, many of which are first time series inclusions. You had attacks for existing units that are locked to the DLC. You have entire unit upgrades and even story continuations locked to the DLC. And of course, an entire postgame campaign yet again. That is awful. Especially when a good chunk of the base game already feels so lackluster and incomplete in some aspects. So needless to say, thanks to "30", I'm very much worried for the future of this franchise. And I hate that I feel that way for a series I really like.
40 hours into the game and the only thing I'm not a fan of is probably the main char being tied down to a Huckebein of all things... They gave me back Kyosuke and Excellen in the dlc so I'll give them a pass this time
SRW has long past its heydays, the recent releases were the equivalent of handheld titles, as opposed to proper console entries. The series went stagnant after Z, as the battle system and graphic were pretty much the relic of the PS2 era, yet without the polish seen in the earlier games. The animation in 30 is lazy to say the least, counter attack scene is separate from the hit/dodge scene, it was something unheard of in 2D SRW games, where the unit would normally respond right away after the enemy has left the scene. The animation duration for some attacks are way too long, making it almost annoying to watch more than once, is certainly true that any animation will become repetitive over time, but 30 just made it worse. The give a good example of quality animation, Z1 has probably the most detailed animations of all games. Almost all the units have three attack animations for each attack, depending on where the enemy is (front, above, below). There were many dynamic kill animations, where special finisher moves will destroy enemy in ways close to the source material, as opposed to a generic blowup. Even those that don’t have a true dynamic kill will use cleaver timings to disguise the blow up within the attack animation itself. 30 gave me the feel of a mobile game like DD, it has neither the challenge nor the depth of earlier titles. Is just there for the sake of existing, now that OG series is almost dead, SRW is kind fading away to mediocrity, much like the robot genre itself.
I wouldn't say it's the best SRW game, not even in the top 3. Unlike Zelda which broke record in Switch, as well as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. But although I wish it was that good, I can understand it, with so many SRW game it's just gonna make it that much harder to surpass. Plus Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Legends: Arceus was a completely new style too. I wonder how long it'll take before a new SRW game comes out that can replace one of the top 3, lol XD PS: I know SRW made multiple amazing exclusive games in Playstation before too, just mentioning those Nintendo games cause I grew up with Nintendo version of SRW since I never owned Playstation.
V X T are small compare to30, T does have the DLC that include all the OG from V and X and their respective OG mech and final boss but T actually have the smallest scale compares to V and X both MC Villain and story V - a duo of survivor, veteran and rookie gain access to special robot X - Travelling magician T - workaholic (male mc), team consist of entire "office" staff who work for a weapon prototype You choose them based on the series that participate, since each of them does have very specific interesting series that first debut in SRW game
greetings to all srw fans. srw 30 is my least favorite game among those released after Z series for many reasons. I enjoyed the first playthrough of SRW-V but after that it was so boring. with every title after that they added another feature like dogma or supporters that made the game even easier. as for srw30... lazy animations, annoying transition between attack and defense phase, messy missions, bad design and colors for UI(highlighted unit is hard too see), no SR point, no interesting originals (excluding the unlockable previous ones like gilliam, masaki, kyosuke...). the only thing that kept me playing the game was some series that I like (majestic prince, gun&sword, L gaim, code geas...). but overall I forced myself to finish it once and I'm not touching that game again.
about the negative review about he dialogue, i actually have to agree. mind you i have played this franchise for years, but i must agree that the dialogue in this game is pretty bad. not because it does not have cool moment (i really love some of them) but rather that with the way the game is structured every level feels so disconnected from the next that not a single bit of the conversations feel coherent or relevant, and thus has a hard time keeping me invested. i have close to 200 hours in the game, but have yet to even finish my first playthrough of the game yet (tho im close) and every time i come back to it, i always find myself getting bored because of the disconnected story and dialogue. part of it is because of the added dlc, and part of it is the mission based system (mx had similar problems but was not as bad) so i think its a valid complaint
Honestly whoever you want to max out can carry your playthroughs, though I would invest in atleast one unit with a map attack (Cybaster, Gekkoei, Ikaruga, etc.)
One thing I agreed is that they really reuse the living sh*t out of Z sprite and designs ... and it's almost a freaking decade now, give us something new already :( And the quality of sprites are rather inconsistent, some look downright horrendous like the Dygenguar that almost like a compilation of stop motion animations, pure disappointment. If anything else, please release next OGs addition on PC too so we can get some refreshment of those glorious PS3/4 render, I only bet that those quality only possible for OG only because the budget are fully on the original idea and not other show's licenses. But now with Bandai Numco as its flag, I start to feel rather oddly uneasy ...
@@RaggenZ That's alright. Fanboys and fangirls are part of the problem because they refuse to listen to reasons. I'm not a hardcore fan but I have been playing this game since compact box and F onward from PSX systems, I kinda know some in and out of them to a certain degree so I ain't gonna budge because I speak facts xD Also, there's an idea I wish they can fulfill. That is to remake the whole OG Saga from 1 2 and Gaiden in PS2 into PS3 OGG2 render onward til Moon Dweller, repackage them, and wholesale them on the PC just so we PC pleb can enjoy the full OG story too, if they are willing to remake the OG1 2 and G of course, I ain't even gonna mad if they resell the old stuff because that's how much I desperate to see some new and up-to-date render of this game in a system I only has, the PC.
@@Tenraio the last time I give opinion about the game problem (seriously not troll) and got mass criticised mass down votes even a dude try to doxx me.... After that I quit srw seriously their fan is psycho.
I'm just waiting for Muv-Luv to be in a mainline game, it'll elevate it even further. Also, Gurren Lagann and Getter Robo combo in a PC release of a SRW would also be fantastic to see, IMO.
Because some Western players are that serious about localization. Many translated JRPGs come with English dub as the mandatory part of localization. It isn't until recently that mainsteam top-tier JRPGs can become sub-only for varying reasons, like SRW being a localization nightmare and the Atelier Ryza trilogy not having English dub because Koei Tecmo wanted to rush the sales. It doesn't help that the sub-only crowds are easy targets for bullying. Some people want to play JRPGs, but they don't want to play with Japanese voice overs because they're feared of being associated with "weeaboo" or "otaku". The worst cases are terrible jerks who actively look down on others who have slight preference to Japanese voice over and call them weird, ignoring that not every player speaks English as the first/second language or cares that everything has to be in English.
There is going to be a New SRW OG Project in the works. Among the New Units will be from W,Z,30,DD,and Cross Omega. Gunleon will represent Z in the promotional material.
no what they actually said was they are trying to secure funding for another SRW project and have their eyes set on another OG series when in reality the best we are going to get is another goddam pachinko-esque game like DD
DD? DD is a mobile game. Its battle system is extremely simplified and can be even worse than SRW2 on NES. At the very least, you don't need to arbitrarily charge up powerful attacks in SRW2 and use anything you have at the time. The only great thing about DD is a cast roster supplemented by gasha and updates, but the trade off is that you're deploying characters that have no real interaction with the present plot. Since the story deals with you hopping between worlds, it quickly makes the game feels like a cheap SRW version of SD Gundam G-Generation. I love SRW, but I don't see how DD is better than 30, or other SRPG's in Android/iOS like Langrisser or Fire Emblem for that matter.

4:31 an incisive critique from the mysterious user "Ryuusei D"
i wish the huckebein upgraded into mk3 then gunner/boxer you know to give it more flexibility to be a melee oriented or a ranged. arguably you could do that but i think even devs realized this limit and released a melee ultimate attack albeit behind a paywall dlc
I just hope given the sales that they decide to celebrate by giving a sale or something. Or just remake all the PS2/3 era games like all of the OG games and lord of elemental games!
@@gembocobo9484 i hope they redo ogg as it has no fantrasnlation what so ever, and it sports some really neat mechs, mayby not at the very beginning but laldabaoth shinka is prob one of the dopest mechs there is
I'm not sure about the later ones, but I really enjoyed being able to put your Real path MC (and SO) in UC Gundams in SRW F. It fits the plot too.
The only time I can think of a og character in a non og suit is in alpha 3 with Cobra piloting a mass-produced nu Gundam
Never noticed if they were CGI or not tbh, but either way they still look great
And I just assumed the "can't sex the robots" guy was just trolling lol
the only CGI units thaf i know of is Ultramans, mazinger Z breast fire and Red 5 Burst, no other CGI that i know exist, maybe some of the enemies have but thats bout it
TBH I thought Combattler still looked pretty good as far as the CG animations go. Maybe that's just because of the neat camera angles they used, like Combattler staring down at the enemy as he lumbers towards it.
I perfectly understand preferring classical spritework in general, but they made it work for my boy.
My biggest nut on the game: they got rid of the El Dorado V's theme from the previous games! El Dora Soul just isn't the same without that music
To be blunt my biggest issue was no Unicorn Gundam. We could have had the op 3 Unicorns.....but this also has Mazinkaiser given the infinity treatment....sooooo i can sorta forgive them
About the 2 robot, i do wonder why they dont include gespent as alternative, like make a brand new gespent30 that goes more with melee with kick and punch like general kai in ogs
Edit: so we can have huckebein30 as long range sniper woth blackhole cannon and gespent30 who just utilize blackhole as sucking mechanism for more punching

U probably chose worse game in series to start lmfao every past game way better than this one
Let's be honest, putting Shinji, Asuka and Rei at the controls of Shin Getter could be extremley entertaining!
Would we then have the getter team in the evas?
>He's correct, but still
He's not even correct!
And also to be honest I think the best 2 graphic wise are
Srw z2 saisai hen and hai kai ken.
Best mazinger z animations hands down and best version of the breast fire attack for real.
I'd have to agree, for the amount of series across Z2, the animations were extremely good
NGL what they did to daizengar and Ultimate Dancouga is peak lazy sprite making. SRW 30 is less about high quality sprite animations and more about flashy cutscene animations of mechs, that's why sprite animations are limited.
Honestly, the only “CG” characters in the game are the OG enemies/villains and the Ultraman trio. But those are still sprites and not actual models.
I still love 30 but the future installments are looking great since if it adds more indepth plot elements from aldnoah [if it gets in] and gundam IBO [not just a slap on addition] which can be great additions if nadesico gets included again~ There's also the matter of integrating
Valkyria Chronicles style elements to gameplay that I'll always want for SRT ever since playing VC 2 and 3 on the psp. gundam gwitch would also be awesome to see added and maybe even armored core and front mission~
Yeah the balance in SRW 30 is kinda non-existent, which I guess shows how much more they appeal to the power fantasy part of controlling your super robots. I'd love to see a SRW in the style of Valkyria Chronicles, I like the gameplay of that series a lot.
I hope Nadesico TV gets included instead of Prince of Darkness again, kinda getting tired of the Black Serena tbh lol
IBO story would be good to go through, and one of the biggest fixes of the story would be Shino actually hitting the Super Galaxy Cannon.
@@RevoSKL I've been trying to do everything there is to do so yeah that's on me
The game being this long isn't new.
6:17 But seriously, in older games there used to be at least 2 robots to pick from, no?
Not every game, we get spoiled by J, D A, etc. Other games like K, W and L you have 1 mech, 1pilot
Not counting OG's and the handheld games, I think the last game to have a choice between atleast 2 was Z, either Gunleon or Virgola.
Z2 just had Crowe and the Brasta, and Z3 had Genion
V only had the Vangray that upgraded, X had Xelguard, and T had the Tyranado
@@RevoSKL To be fair, in V you had the choice between the VangrayNext and the GranVang. I would count these as different robots, so you even had three in total
@@SenshiSam On W both the OGs ship and mecha combined into a new mecha.
Key mission order is the new route selection. If you pick them in a different order, you get different variants which lead to different events.
Personally, I hated the route split. In X two, different series plots were skipped if I wanted to keep my favorite units. Same with V or T. Heck with T, I lose out on two secret units for that reason.
I never played SRW 30 (still waiting for platinum edition or whatever edition including all DLCs but i played the Demo SRW 30 on nintendo switch) but played SRW since like 2003s (alpha, OG, Z series, VTX and so on)
In my observation about 30......
>Says roster is bad
>wants Valvrave and Total Eclipse

My big problem is it's too big too many units and too many missions I started this game last month and am still playing it
Even after all this time, I still feel heavily mixed on "30".
I have been into the Super Robot Wars games since the Game Boy Advance games are one of the few to come to the USA.
40 hours into the game and the only thing I'm not a fan of is probably the main char being tied down to a Huckebein of all things...
They gave me back Kyosuke and Excellen in the dlc so I'll give them a pass this time
lack of challenge, pointless grinding, strange roster.
how many playthroughs did you need for all that money mxp etc
This was recorded on my 13th playthrough, but I've also AFK farmed resources on a few runs. I have a video on how to AFK farm, though it's a bit dated
V was their swansong
the Z series is by far their best work there will also never EVER be a og3rd EVER
I wonder how long it'll take before a new SRW game comes out that can replace one of the top 3, lol XD
PS: I know SRW made multiple amazing exclusive games in Playstation before too, just mentioning those Nintendo games cause I grew up with Nintendo version of SRW since I never owned Playstation.
I mean the game is lacking compared to the predecessor specially the DLC.
But the biggest issue is the fans not the game.
If SRW had sex in it it’s acronym would stand for something very different ( stick G-Saviour in for a consenting mecha joke lol)
They would have to learn how to find the g-savior first.
It would certainly put the SRX and other combiners under a new light...

greetings to all srw fans. srw 30 is my least favorite game among those released after Z series for many reasons. I enjoyed the first playthrough of SRW-V but after that it was so boring. with every title after that they added another feature like dogma or supporters that made the game even easier. as for srw30... lazy animations, annoying transition between attack and defense phase, messy missions, bad design and colors for UI(highlighted unit is hard too see), no SR point, no interesting originals (excluding the unlockable previous ones like gilliam, masaki, kyosuke...). the only thing that kept me playing the game was some series that I like (majestic prince, gun&sword, L gaim, code geas...). but overall I forced myself to finish it once and I'm not touching that game again.
about the negative review about he dialogue, i actually have to agree. mind you i have played this franchise for years, but i must agree that the dialogue in this game is pretty bad. not because it does not have cool moment (i really love some of them) but rather that with the way the game is structured every level feels so disconnected from the next that not a single bit of the conversations feel coherent or relevant, and thus has a hard time keeping me invested. i have close to 200 hours in the game, but have yet to even finish my first playthrough of the game yet (tho im close) and every time i come back to it, i always find myself getting bored because of the disconnected story and dialogue. part of it is because of the added dlc, and part of it is the mission based system (mx had similar problems but was not as bad) so i think its a valid complaint
and who should i mainly max out
Honestly whoever you want to max out can carry your playthroughs, though I would invest in atleast one unit with a map attack (Cybaster, Gekkoei, Ikaruga, etc.)
One thing I agreed is that they really reuse the living sh*t out of Z sprite and designs
... and it's almost a freaking decade now, give us something new already :(
And the quality of sprites are rather inconsistent, some look downright horrendous like the Dygenguar that almost like a compilation of stop motion animations, pure disappointment.
Finally someone speak facts, careful tho srw fans hate people criticises their game.
@@RaggenZ That's alright. Fanboys and fangirls are part of the problem because they refuse to listen to reasons.
I'm not a hardcore fan but I have been playing this game since compact box and F onward from PSX systems, I kinda know some in and out of them to a certain degree so I ain't gonna budge because I speak facts xD
Also, there's an idea I wish they can fulfill.
@@RaggenZ You have my condolences. Maybe you're just unlucky, terribly so. There're fanatic in every fandom afterall.

I'm just waiting for Muv-Luv to be in a mainline game, it'll elevate it even further.
Also, Gurren Lagann and Getter Robo combo in a PC release of a SRW would also be fantastic to see, IMO.
Keep that self-fellating nationalist grimdark shit out of SRW. The series already has enough fanservicey and edgy garbage.
Three words: lol
Why would you even want an english dub?
I'm just sad that Gurren Lagann isn't here anymore.
Must of them are new to the game 🤣
There is going to be a New SRW OG Project in the works. Among the New Units will be from W,Z,30,DD,and Cross Omega. Gunleon will represent Z in the promotional material.
Just saw promotional material for it on Twitter.
no what they actually said was they are trying to secure funding for another SRW project and have their eyes set on another OG series
when in reality the best we are going to get is another goddam pachinko-esque game like DD
Even ds game 3ds gb etc.
30 is a extreme downgrade of z3 and DD lmfao
Say you've never played any of these games without saying it.
