Wow, what a fantastic job! I love that this entire homestead can be packed up and moved, if the need arises. Given how crazy expensive land is in this part of the world, this is an incredibly practical solution.
Thanks for sharing, including the stuff that's not quite working the way you hoped!

I really loved This setup .its a great in depth breakdown as well Jordan thank you and well done . i really appreciate you both taking the time to share this inspirational off grid little piece of heaven . I have been looking for ideas for a few years now and ive been watching Curtis channel. so far ive built a heatable used patio door greenhouse add on,18 individual doors to be exact lol. but the ideas never stop coming im sure this will be something many people find more reachable than Curtis's massive undertaking lol . Im guessing thats why you made this video and it shows your commitment to helping people realize the dream of staying free . thanks for the in depth tour ,enjoy all your hard work as a carpenter i know what youve got in jordan lol. thanks again Curtis keep up the great work.

It would be nice if Jordan had a YT channel and do segments on each of the 'workings' he's got going on, explain them for others to become independent. He'd probably make a pretty penny on all the subscribes since out here, the ones that want to do it are pretty 'green' about the how-to's. And also add where he got his materials or ideas of where to get them. Come on out and play Jordan!

We’re building two buses as our mobile tiny homes and are also looking for self-reliant minded men and women preferably though closer to southern U.S. where the r-values needed aren’t quite as intense. But props to Jordan for pulling off what he is. Examples like this are fuel for me in this crazy upside down world.

Dad was a museum quality builder, designer, architect. I did nine years in renovation and construction, and nine years on fire towers with cabins between 20x24 and 16x32, and a few other similar dimensions. I also studied the purpose of the tiny house movement, which ain't all rosy, but that's off-topic. It's an awesome setup, and that's what counts.
I'd consider staggered double 2x4 construction, which would really add to R-value over 2x8, though 2x6 can still be quite efficient. Windows have dismal R-value, so insulated curtains or shutters would go a long way to solve that.

Fantastic video and setup out there, especially the options for that woodstove!! I would have liked him to go into more specific detail about how he did the permuting etc for his place, I can understand it if some of it is done "under the radar" but is he in an unincorporated area with no building codes, etc? I know i looked into off grid building on other coast and an engineer said if you get your plans signed off by one its good to go but that can be $$$ now where he works in that field I'd imagine he's got an inside track on that, though. Those SimpliPhi batteries are, I believe, contactor based as are the similiar Fortress eFlex. Sadly, they consume a huge amount of your energy just to "safely run". The batteries that Curtis uses are EG4LL's which are MOSFET and consume drastically less to run. According to the DIYSolarForum thread that I was participating in, both SimpliPhi & Fortress eFlex consume 30 watts each per hour to run (Discover, a similar battery, would not disclose their self-consumption figures). Depending on your solar uptake (I'm also in the PNW so winters are horrific), these batteries are not your friends. I'm now strongly weighing options as I have 10 of the damn eFlex that are sinking my winter battleship for even the smallest of loads. I also have two Sol-Ark 12k's which each consume approximately 60 watts idle plus 5% of whatever my loads are. They can be power sucking hogs but at this point I wouldn't change them. The losses I experience are definitely more controllable on the battery side. Sadly, these are all the things you learn about a solar system AFTER spending a huge chunk of change on components. My batteries were my largest portion of my cost at $35k and they're an anchor around my winter neck.

Great way to experience owning ones own Home by Renting for a while. I saw the Houses that Elon Musk has designed for £10.000 1 Bedroom, i think in time we will see larger Houses for Larger Families. Jordan seems like a wonderful Chap. x Do we get to hear some Music from Jordan?i really love the Round Windows x
