The Swiss people are geniuses, you may think you never need a pin or a magnifier, but they packed these things there for you just in case you needed it, and it doesn't set you back in any ways. They are very generous with their tools for the volume of the tool.
I use the pin for hitting reset buttons, fine scraping or scratching words into things, and also draining blisters. Also handy for pinning something light to a tree or by a fire to dry like socks, don't wanna get trench foot. Also fish fillets when you don't have a grill or anything to hold it over the fire. Then the magnifier for firestarting if needed, looking at tiny things like capacitor rings or bugs or rocks or with the tweezers to clean the little asphalt pebbles out of a wound. There's always things with tiny details to be looked at.

I have both the lite and the classic cards, the knife is very sharp and can be easily kept that way with a ceramic sharper, the scissors are too small for my fat fingers but work well, I keep one card (lite) in my medical kit and the other in my survival tin (it has a nail file that can double as a striker) I find them both valuable tools I have used the screwdrivers on my glasses and other items and it works surprisingly well if a little cumbersome, the magnifying glass ,pin and tweezers I have used many times for splinters and I love these cards. As far as small survival knives go that fit into a tin I use a BG scout, not a bad little knife, its small and very thin.Hope this helps to open you all to other options utilizing these cards.

I'm a 5'11" man and I can fit my middle finger in the loop of the scissors with a bit of wiggling. I also like the loop, because as you mentioned it makes cutting with it quite more manageable. The card is pretty awesome and the fact that I can get replacements and even be able to replace the led battery makes it worth to buy. Tweezers: thick enough and durable. Blade: sharp, but only has an edge on one side. Scissors: sharp and durable. It cuts through the annoying thick plastic packaging, and for that reason it's my most liked and useful feature to me. Pin: haven't used it yet, as I've only had it for 1 day. Pen: durable, doesn't bend, and it does what it supposed to, it writes. However, with my big hands, I can't write with any form of fancy writing. Nevertheless it gets the job done in a pinch. Screw drivers: I would say they are thick enough to grip onto screws nice and snug. The only downside is that it doesn't give you and reach if the screw is kinda buried. LED: barely bright enough to let you see people's faces 3 meters away from you in dark room. What I found it useful for is to use it to get a clearer view of an up close view of something, or to aid you with locking/unlocking your door in the dark with your keys. Of course being able to change the battery so effortlessly is amazing to have. Magnifier: I'll test it for starting fire in sunlight on a black paper and post an update later. So far, I don't like that it's plastic, as it'll get scratched up pretty easily.
Also picking the gunk out of things, cleaning stuff, a tiny scraper stick. It useful for many things and the replacements are cheap and come in 5 packs.

I bought the Nail Card version when I was in Lucerne, Switzerland last summer. It's not available in North America. I love it. Swiss Card Nail Card has all of the same tools as the Swiss Card Lite with 2 exceptions. The Nail Card doesn't have the light and instead of a blade it has a crystal nail file, which is the tool I use the most. It fits perfectly in my wallet and travels with me everywhere.
That magnifier can be used for starting a fire, you need to have the skill to get one going from an ember. So far as that blade is concerned, after my buddies making fun of my MiniChamp, which basically has the same blade, I grabbed a couple of very small sticks and made a couple of "feather twigs" then proceeded to build our evening fire using my MiniChamp. Sure, you won't be batoning with that blade, however, it beats the everloving out of not having a blade at all.
I had one of these. They fall apart too easily- Scissors spring stops working, pen runs out of ink in no time, pin gets lost and that battery for the TINY light is SO expensive and hard to source !

I Rally like this _"card"_, in the same way I also like the another one from Gerber, BUT I really want one of this but focused in survival, like the Gerber. The materials are not the the best, but of course plastic is very soft and light. I want to try the both items.

This is the first time I am seeing a woman doing a review on a SAK, No offense, I really love your fluent explanation of things. I am a fan of the SAK as millions already are. I LOVE the ruby transparent look, REALLY attractive. My fav thing is the QAUTTRO 4-way screwdriver, a very simple and innovative tool, I have ordered 5 of those from ebay here in US, cost $2 a piece that way. Just loving it! Carried a lesser version of this model in my wallet for 10+ years. Seldom use it, but it's reassuring knowing it's there. The pen, pin and scissors have come in very handy a few times.
Should add that I've carried Victorinox knives since I was about 8 and I'm 58 now. I've had a few models, but the Climber is most suited to my life and I've had the same one in my pocket for about 15 years, now. It's a luminescent yellow colour and it still glows strongly in the dark.
Just discovered Ur review and I like/appreciate Ur style and completeness! Just wish I knew about this feature after I'd purchased the Tool Logic piece but didn't know how to use the flint! Actually ended up breaking the flint off not knowing how to use it n thinking I needed to get it off to use! Have on a rare occasion taken it out to use the toothpick or tweezers and maybe a part of the "saw".

Two really good points you make: the absolute necessity of that finger loop in order for the scissors to be functional, and your answer to why a pin? Why a toothpick? Agree that a pin is a surprisingly useful little tool to remove slivers, lance blisters, clear clogged glue nozzles, etc. About the only thing I ever really found the toothpick useful for on a traditional Swiss Army knife is to clean lint and accumulated gunk from the various crevices between the tool blades. A very well done review.

Thanks! I agree with you on the scissors design. It works quite decent for my finger size. Re. Iong term durability: I have an older version of this card, have been using it for years, no need to replace anything, everything is still working fine, even the pen. This older version has just a single screwdriver; I'll now buy the quatro-screwdriver (as spare part) and try it, maybe put it into my EDC.
Female practical sense never stop to amaze me . Keep on with the good job please .I can repair a car motor or a computer but I cant saw a button or find my way to what do need in a supermarket if my life would depend on it.
I keep mine in my purse now, in an outside pocket where it is handiest. I think the idea is to put in your wallet, hence the card shape, but at this price, I would be afraid to be sitting on it constantly unless you are careful and take your wallet out of your pocket before sitting down. Hello! I've modded my Victorinox BW to hold a pin, tweezers and toothpick in it. A pin is very handy at popping blisters. Swiss pin is better than ordinary btw. A needle would be much easier to lose, and without a thread it's just as useful, as the pin is. A toothpick is good with manipulating in any narrow, delicate spaces, I use it mostly to clean my nails - even if it's a bit flimsy, I don't have any other tool for that. Picking teeth provides a kind or entertainment in the field maybe.
This may not be a survival tool but it has gotten me out of many a pinch. I've had one of these for more than 20 years, don't know where the first one came from. Never realized how handy it was until l had to wrap a gift at the last minute... in my car! Had tape & paper, scissors saved the day! Wouldn't be without it.
I see this as an Urban multi-tool card. I use it quite a bit in my day to day life (scissors, pen, screwdrivers..). For outdoor use, like hikes and canoe trips, I prefer the Tool Logic Survival II card, which I usually carry in a cargo pocket.
i agree - no hardwoods. But since it's not a rural/wilderness survival tool, that's okay. i also wouldn't gut a fish, baton firewood, or even make a featherstick with it. This is NOT intended to keep you alive for days out in the bush. It IS intended to be a handy tool for practical, everyday use. And for that, it is designed very well, with excellent craftsmanship, quality, and - i dare say - robustness.

I have this card and the Champ, both are incredibly useful. For every day things when you might need a knife or magnifying glass (you young people laugh but it will happen to you one day) the lite is brilliant. But it would be useless when I’m out doing wildlife photography or especially macro where I might want to remove a small branch or hold a flower with that hook thing. Equally, the Champ isn’t really practical when you’re going to work in the office or for a night out. Thank you for showing me how to change the battery.
I agree, that the altoids tins are getting more and more harder to find. But I made an order for some A-Tins back in Toronto, and my friend found an old Ma and Pa shop where they sell these Mint candy tins. But I also am looking at ordering these tins from the states, without the Altoid labelling, just plain silver

Couple opinions: 1) Victorinox means premier quality in all their products - this is certainly no exception. :) 2) Vnox scissors are the best i've found anywhere, hands down. Especially considering the size. 3) Vnox blade is definitely more than just a letter opener! Awesome. I'm a camper, and I already have my perfect knives for it, so I'm not looking for an outdoors knife. I never had a budget for a great EDC, as I'm 17, but I think I found my perfect one. victorinox shop is 2 towns down, in moa, so I'm heading there soon. TMI, I know.
finger and thumb type card light which is super bright for such a small light. And with the card having the torch or as you say "flashlight" it would probably be better to give out to people at risk than just a torch/ Take care mrbluenun
Perhaps a whistle in the blade handle may be a good addition? also that 4 way driver looks fantastic for an urban survival kit, it's a shame they don't seem to sell them separately

i started a really nice fire with the magnifying glass at 3 o clock in the afternoon on a day that weather wasn't the best. this thing is very reliable
Would be good to have in a med kit especially if you lived in a very thorny part of the world, got a leg infection from old semi rotten thorns sticking in my leg about a year ago, might have been able to avoid that if I had this in my first aid kit, thanks for the review!
if they would make the backside transperent and mold in a polished aluminum foil into the plastic on the backside it would turn into a fullsize signal mirror aswell, that would make it real versitile. qualitywise I prefer victorinox card over tool logic's, but victorinox really miss the firesteel, could of course be glued on one of the sides with epoxy.

In my personal opinion they should have made the case polished metal, as then you get a signaling mirror as well as a more durable case.
but they needed to keep it lightweight as well as easy to find the tools.

Great review, I`ve had a look at the black card ( They call it jelly Onyx ) And it is translucent enough to see through to the implements
The toothpick is with the knives so that people would not pick their teeth with the blades and cause damage.

You're welcome :-) Although Canada "has gone metric" there is still a significant use of non-metric units. Having lived for so many years in Portugal myself, metric is where I feel the most comfortable. However, when it comes to camping/hiking gear, due to the larger number of bloggers in the U.S., I find myself thinking non-metric sometimes. It's all very confusing! I try to use both in my videos when possible so to please everyone!

Re. Iong term durability: I have an older version of this card, have been using it for years, no need to replace anything, everything is still working fine, even the pen. This older version has just a single screwdriver; I'll now buy the quatro-screwdriver (as spare part) and try it, maybe put it into my EDC.
Female practical sense never stop to amaze me . Keep on with the good job please .I can repair a car motor or a computer but I cant saw a button or find my way to what do need in a supermarket if my life would depend on it.
I keep mine in my purse now, in an outside pocket where it is handiest. I think the idea is to put in your wallet, hence the card shape, but at this price, I would be afraid to be sitting on it constantly unless you are careful and take your wallet out of your pocket before sitting down. It might be more comfortable to not sit on top of a wallet anyway? I see a lot of men carrying backpacks now though. It would be fine in there for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I've modded my Victorinox BW to hold a pin, tweezers and toothpick in it. A pin is very handy at popping blisters. Swiss pin is better than ordinary btw. A needle would be much easier to lose, and without a thread it's just as useful, as the pin is. A toothpick is good with manipulating in any narrow, delicate spaces, I use it mostly to clean my nails - even if it's a bit flimsy, I don't have any other tool for that. Picking teeth provides a kind or entertainment in the field maybe.
This may not be a survival tool but it has gotten me out of many a pinch. I've had one of these for more than 20 years, don't know where the first one came from. Never realized how handy it was until l had to wrap a gift at the last minute... in my car! Had tape & paper, scissors saved the day! Wouldn't be without it.
I see this as an Urban multi-tool card. I use it quite a bit in my day to day life (scissors, pen, screwdrivers..). For outdoor use, like hikes and canoe trips, I prefer the Tool Logic Survival II card, which I usually carry in a cargo pocket.
i agree - no hardwoods. But since it's not a rural/wilderness survival tool, that's okay. i also wouldn't gut a fish, baton firewood, or even make a featherstick with it. This is NOT intended to keep you alive for days out in the bush. It IS intended to be a handy tool for practical, everyday use. And for that, it is designed very well, with excellent craftsmanship, quality, and - i dare say - robustness.

I have this card and the Champ, both are incredibly useful. For every day things when you might need a knife or magnifying glass (you young people laugh but it will happen to you one day) the lite is brilliant. But it would be useless when I’m out doing wildlife photography or especially macro where I might want to remove a small branch or hold a flower with that hook thing. Equally, the Champ isn’t really practical when you’re going to work in the office or for a night out.

I agree, that the altoids tins are getting more and more harder to find. But I made an order for some A-Tins back in Toronto, and my friend found an old Ma and Pa shop where they sell these Mint candy tins. But I also am looking at ordering these tins from the states, without the Altoid labelling, just plain silver

1) Victorinox means premier quality in all their products - this is certainly no exception. :)
2) Vnox scissors are the best i've found anywhere, hands down. Especially considering the size.
3) Vnox blade is definitely more than just a letter opener! That sucker comes super sharp & stays that way unless you abuse it.
4) This was a great, comprehensive review. But honestly, i could just watch/listen to you read the phone book. Ahhh... :-) *blush*

Awesome. I'm a camper, and I already have my perfect knives for it, so I'm not looking for an outdoors knife. I never had a budget for a great EDC, as I'm 17, but I think I found my perfect one. victorinox shop is 2 towns down, in moa, so I'm heading there soon. TMI, I know.

finger and thumb type card light which is super bright for such a small light. And with the card having the torch or as you say "flashlight" it would probably be better to give out to people at risk than just a torch/

It works well for office survival.For it has all the tools you need to work in an office except for the phone and computer.

Would be good to have in a med kit especially if you lived in a very thorny part of the world, got a leg infection from old semi rotten thorns sticking in my leg about a year ago, might have been able to avoid that if I had this in my first aid kit, thanks for the review!
I got the one that is one step lower, but I like it a lot.
if they would make the backside transperent and mold in a polished aluminum foil into the plastic on the backside it would turn into a fullsize signal mirror aswell, that would make it real versitile.
qualitywise I prefer victorinox card over tool logic's, but victorinox really miss the firesteel, could of course be glued on one of the sides with epoxy.
5:39 if they dont have that loop well they can insert it in the card the wrong way handle first then use the whole card as a grip.
