And for the rest of us, there's a VST plugin called Portatron which seems to match the Oceans device feature for feature, as it also emulates a portable 4-track cassette deck. Except for recording - Portatron won't do that, you just feed it samples.
I have a Portastudio 414 and a really nice Sony dubbing dual tape deck that I each bought new in the late 90’s/early 00’s, and I still absolutely am going to get this. Especially at that nice intro price.
This plugin is insane! I have an idea to create my own sample label about Downtempo/Lofi Hip Hop and Ambient Electronic music! Your videos give me more ideas for Loops and my first Lo-Fi Soul Sample Pack will be free, and I think you'll like it!
@@WillHatton If you know how, yeh.......I'm no Max wizard, but in theory it shouldn't be an epic task..... A longer record buffer and cross-fade ability would elevate this device massively.

I guess it’s halfway between what you’ve already mentioned a sampler and a modular device. It can handle 4 elements at once (unlike Ableton’s simpler) but it’s downside is it’s time limit of only about 8 seconds. This can give you a limitation that I find actually breeds my creativity, so not much of a downside depending on how you like to work!
