Its not that his back taper was messed up...if you look closely this client has a dent under his unusually protruding occipital bone which gives that part of the taper a concave look if you go too high. It was blended out but the only way to counter that is to keep the taper lower. Still a great job and a great chance to learn new things!

Those dents in the occipital bone are always tricky to fade around, I constantly check my work on those cuts just like you were saying earlier in the video but the cuts must go on! Same razor technique too! A little tomb 45 and straight razor always gets the job done, I’ve been using some liquid razor too for the tip of the lines and that’s been just as good

I thought Alopecia is where they lose their hair, and don’t have any. It looks more like an infection from all the PRIOR heavy hair he had. I've seen the BEST barbers resort to modifying a lineup all because they couldn't work with light vertical bars. A major issue is that there are still a lot of barbers that refuse to bite the bullet and use enhancements. My vertical bars are like his; to the point where I have to go without a cut for several weeks so that my edges are notable enough not to get pushed back. Anyone with this problem knows that if you get pushed back having a light vertical line; it's game over if you want to go back to get a cut in a timely manner because then you're gonna get pushed back even further. Makes your forehead look bigger and all. That said, I'm showing you love for taking your time with this man and going out of your way to make the cut work for him. And that's the thing... Most barbers make the cut work for themselves; and don't want to step out of their comfort zones. So they'll default and deliver a good cut. But the client can't be fully happy because they end up with an altered look. It's like when you send someone to get you a Coke an they come back with diet because they forgot. But it's still Coke so you'll deal with it. I'm just so passionate about this cut because I have that same problem and you had the observation to make it work without him even having to worry about it. Love your observation and attention to detail. This proves that enhancements in the right hands are TOOLS. You have the reverse problem with guys that use enhancements because they can't deliver a great, raw haircut. And have unhappy clients that don't need or want an enhancement but deal with it because the cut is still decent. You are that perfect storm! If that email is the contact; I'm gonna keep you in mind if I ever make the trip your way. On that note, I know you always talk about consistency. So if it means you have to charge more money to take your time on cuts like this; there are guys like myself that will pay the lil extra to get this kind of treatment. Keep the hot towels and massages. Great stuff. But THIS is what a haircut should be like. Man, I'm blown away.

Nice cut. Hope you showed him some MEDICATED shampoo to use on his head. I saw some open sores on the back of his head, and quite a bit of redness. I thought Alopecia is where they lose their hair, and don’t have any. It looks more like an infection from all the PRIOR heavy hair he had. He probably didn’t wash his hair enough, or care for it correctly. Glad to hear he got the promotion. In the corporate world, you have to look the part. I've seen the BEST barbers resort to modifying a lineup all because they couldn't work with light vertical bars. A major issue is that there are still a lot of barbers that refuse to bite the bullet and use enhancements. My vertical bars are like his; to the point where I have to go without a cut for several weeks so that my edges are notable enough not to get pushed back.
Anyone with this problem knows that if you get pushed back having a light vertical line; it's game over if you want to go back to get a cut in a timely manner because then you're gonna get pushed back even further. Makes your forehead look bigger and all. That said, I'm showing you love for taking your time with this man and going out of your way to make the cut work for him. And that's the thing...
Most barbers make the cut work for themselves; and don't want to step out of their comfort zones. So they'll default and deliver a good cut. But the client can't be fully happy because they end up with an altered look. It's like when you send someone to get you a Coke an they come back with diet because they forgot. But it's still Coke so you'll deal with it. I'm just so passionate about this cut because I have that same problem and you had the observation to make it work without him even having to worry about it.
Love your observation and attention to detail. This proves that enhancements in the right hands are TOOLS. You have the reverse problem with guys that use enhancements because they can't deliver a great, raw haircut. And have unhappy clients that don't need or want an enhancement but deal with it because the cut is still decent. You are that perfect storm! If that email is the contact; I'm gonna keep you in mind if I ever make the trip your way. On that note, I know you always talk about consistency. So if it means you have to charge more money to take your time on cuts like this; there are guys like myself that will pay the lil extra to get this kind of treatment. Keep the hot towels and massages. Great stuff. But THIS is what a haircut should be like. Man, I'm blown away.
