Brock , can you please make a podcast or something like a book because you've really inspired me a lot during these past few months and hearing your advice is really awesome. Keep up the good work
Bro 100% agreed, you need to run hard to get your body used to it. Started implementing more speed/ tough sessions lately and benefited almost instantly (hit a totally unexpected 39:59 10k PB)… keep it up w the good quality content man🤙
I always prefer more uptempo long runs, just as you said it gets the body used to working harder over the long distances. For half and full marathon training this was a game changer for me. Great content, keep it up!
These videos provide only the best of vibes as always, such a joy to watch, especially as I can’t run because of injury. Faster Long runs are by far the best part of the week, keep em comin’ 😊🤘 Also how different is the impact on running dirt trails vs pavement?
i love watching ur videos. i’m in 8th grade and i might hit my teams top 10 and if u do then u get to go to region and state, and this guy is helping out so much. keep it up man!
i need a video with tips on tricking the mind. i go running a lot and especially in races i have a hard time keeping going because my mind tells me to stop. i really want to overcome that hurdle and with that i l really admire you !!!! wow
Hey man, I'm a high school kid who is pretty slow, one of those guys that has to walk up hills to stay in zone 2. Do you have any input as to whether I should have 2 hard days and a long run per week, or just 1 hard day and a long run to improve this summer. All the other days except Sunday are easy zone 2 runs BTW. Thanks
Great vid Brock, you’re absolutely crushing your summer training! Also, could you give lease post the daily mile videos on yt shorts, ik a lot of us who only follow on it would appreciate it!
@@ElizabethSmith-bf7rf they’re usually longer than 60s so I can’t post them to shorts. I might be able to modify them and make shorter versions for TH-cam, though
Hey Brock, I’m starting my first year in college ,and I’m doing Cross Country & Track, but I don’t know what kind to get. What do you recommend? I was thinking about a Garmin, but I don’t know what kind to get
damn, will you post to TikTok as well or just IG? asking cause I don't use IG. was looking forward to the 30 day series you mentioned in your last video, I'll stay subscribed and look forward to if/when you return to TH-cam. Happy Running Brock!
hey brock i totally get what your saying about how doing a faster long run is beneficial. as a general rule of thumb should theses runs feel hard but manageable at the same time?
Yeah! The way I like to do it is by easing off into them. So if I’m going for 15 miles (like in this video) then I’ll do the first 3 miles at a comfortable pace before cutting down to a moderate pace. That moderate pace is kind of like a long tempo. It’s not an easy run pace, but it’s not a race. It’s a controlled, long, uptempo effort. You’ll know when you find the sweet spot. But for starters, just run them faster than you are now and see where it takes you. If your body doesn’t respond well after a few weeks, then pull off the gas and go back to how you were doing them before. Hope this helps!
What type of intra run fueling did you incorporate for this type of run (effort and duration)? Gels, electrolytes, etc. or did you prehydrate enough for it?
Took some G1M sport from BPN before this run, then snagged some more at mile 10. G1M is a carbohydrate drink mix with electrolytes that’s perfect for those long efforts in the summer.
New Balance 1080s! They are great! But I've been rocking the Brooks Glycerin lately, and I can honestly say that they are one of the best shoes I've run in in a very long time.
@@TheBrockKellywhat shoes would you recommend me do for my faster paced long runs like this one and workout days? I currently wear some Asics Kayanos for daily trainers and the Asics Magic Speed 3 (carbon plated) for races. Was looking for like a middle ground between the 2 so I didn’t have to wear my race shoe for my workouts
@@TheBrockKelly okay cool! Yeah trying this on myself and athletes I coach! Haven’t had much experience of fast long runs but will be adding progressive speed into the programming. I see there is benefits of a callous mind for knowing you can push for long. So just shared this video with the kids! Keep up the good work bro. Pray the best for your season!
@@ChristopherMiles-c1f thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. In my opinion, the summer should be fun and low stress. When I do the tempo or threshold work each week, it’s designed in a way where I’m building up my aerobic base and setting the stage for big and fast anaerobic and neuromuscular workouts later in the season. I try to expand the size of that base the best that I can in the summer with easy mileage, long runs, and tempos, but by the time late September and October roll around, we’re crushing workouts that are at race pace or faster which allows us to progress throughout the season. Just some of my thoughts on training that you definitely didn’t ask for hahaha. But figured I’d break it down
And yea been adding progressive speed on some short runs now (as there threshold/ tempo session of the week) later this summer we’ll try it on some long runs. Just good to hear more benefits of that.

Quick question for anyone that knows editing, what's the best way to upload music for the background music in videos?

Might want to look into the Brooks Hyperion Max or the New Balance Rebels.
Did you say two sessions a week?
@@ChristopherMiles-c1f long run + threshold or tempo. Two hard sessions. Everything else is easy miles

Great video. But dude that steak 🤦🏻🤦🏻. Next time your in Texas you need Nick to give you some tips
it was such a thin cut. I know how to cook a thick steak. Actually prefer medium rare. But these weren't the right cuts for that
That steak and pasta looked sad brother ngl
everyone hating on the steak and pasta hahaha. they were thin cuts, so couldn't do a whole lot. Got the job done for fueling, though
