    I have a white same spec 40d here in Australia. My only issue was rear air suspension sagging I replaced them extremely easy to do for about £100 $200 dollar’s Australian. This car is deceptively quick, I have driven it form Brisbane to Melbourne and back 2000 + miles other than a 50d it’s my first choice for this trip.

    So these can be converted to 7 seats. There’s a mounting bracket’s in the rear that you add and to can take off the rear pillars for the belt mounts. And replace the rear floor door with the smaller one. And you have to get the beefy shocks. For the rear. Other then that not to hard. I took apart my rear cargo area to make sure. Going to cost me around 2k usd to do everything and with parts.

      Last month my Idrive kept rebooting, BMW said the whole unit needs replacing at a cost of several thousands, I took it to a specialist who repaired the processor, it now gives me Apple CarPlay full screen just like the 2020 models.
      Last week the Prop Shaft on the front now needs replacing and is causing the car to vibrate under breaking and to top it off the sunroof lost compete power the other day, that’s still under warranty from last time.

      @ioannisstavrou2677 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      X5 40d is one of the world best Diesel engine ever. By the way 40d & 50d have the same exactly engine. 50d has 3 turbo while 40d has 2. The number of turbos doesn’t mean anything. If you want you can upgrade turbos to a tougher one.
      40d is a very economical car because of high torque. 50d not so economic. But always a diesel car will be the most economic in regards to petrol, hybrid/electric and petrol. It’s not only about consumption on paper. Diesel gives free miles I repeat because of torque. Well you have and the sport option in case you like speed.
      What I don’t like: you don’t feel the speed at all!! It drives extremely quick and you have the feeling like: nothing is happening!! Outside you can hear a nice strong sound but inside you just hear silence. Lastly plastics are just crap 💩
      But most of the cars have noisy cheaply plastics rather than durable ones

    Thanks for the review. I have don’t 37k miles over 5 years ownership with no issue at all. Mine is 7 seater version, purely for family. I agree with you that the fuel economy isn’t great and each refill costs me £120. The one downside is the run flat tyres of which the ride is very harsh.

    • @CarMadDad
      @CarMadDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the view and comments - yeah agree with the tyres but they have also driven home home on a dark cold night and so always stuck with them after that 😆

    • @rumruumm
      @rumruumm 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-el2zj3pw5rrun flat tires are for cars that don’t come with a spare. So in case if you have a blow out, you’re still able to drive for 50 miles at 50-60mph.
      I’d rather get regular tires, and either keep a spare tire in the trunk, or get that kit with adhesive plugs, and a mini compressor that’s not bigger than a woman’s purse. Tuck it away and off you go 😊
