      Here's a fact. Gallery mungyo oil pastels work best on canvas. And sennelier most on smooth bright even surface wood panels.
      Already tested. Have both. Based on results

    It was a great lesson for all when you rejected your first try, showing that you do not compromise your end result. It also seems that a good quality of great teachers is that they don’t shy away from exposing their little insecurities. It opens the dialogue with the students and potentially making the learning process in both directions. Very nice video, thank you!

      Thank you so much! I think it’s also something that comes with time. Years ago it would have been harder for me both to share my failures and to get rid of works that don’t go well because of the effort I had put into them. Now I find more valuable what I’ve learned from making a piece that the final artwork itself.

    Lovely Yolanda! I would suggest always adding just a touch of the “background” color into small shadows of eyes, around nose, under chin/jawline, in hair, forehead, etc. As if she is sitting in the “air” around her! It unifies the portrait and contributes to 3-d effect. Nicely done! So bold of you to write “NOPE” on first attempt! Gives inspiration & hope for us all!

    Hmm, i like the level of precision on the shades you get with oil pastels, and in addition you can have more control than with brushes to get the result you are looking for, so the finish work look almost photo-realistic.

    • @YolandaBlazquez
      @YolandaBlazquez  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have a lot more control with brushes but I love having the colors ready to go and not having to mix on a palette 😇 in the end it looks pretty close to a traditional oil painting

We would also enjoy and learn trough your pain and persistence :) . Wow. What an incredibly beautiful work of art. I never could get a handle on pastels. I lack the requisite patience lol.
    You also have a very melodious, very soothing voice.
    I tend to watch the art channels of artists who show as much of the process as possible. I don't like videos that are too sped up. It is necessary for works that take hours or days to complete, which I'm fine with. But the ones that put it on hyper speed actually make me nauseous. I love when artists interact. I love when they include music.
    I would definitely be interested to watch any videos that you care to post!

      Thank you so much Elisa! ❤️ I’m very glad that you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback. since I began recording my voice I became quite self conscious and cringe at myself badly while editing haha
      I feel the same way about super fast pace videos, they almost give me anxiety. It’s a dilemma because lots of people nowadays prefer very short length content. I’m still debating about the one for this Sunday 😅

    • @sadepennbrook
      @sadepennbrook ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a reason they do it. A lot of these artists make a living, not by selling their work, but by teaching it through Patreon or other self-guided platforms. If they made real time content, they’re in essence giving away their techniques free. Can’t fault them for trying to make a living. I agree there are better editing choices than making people nauseous with ultra speed, like Yolanda who cut her footage into bite-sized sequences of the most important phases, but it is extremely difficult to keep hours of work into shareable video files with a low file-size.

    • @YolandaBlazquez
      @YolandaBlazquez  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sadepennbrook that’s very right 🙏🏻 There’s also a difference approach depending on the platform, in TH-cam most people want to be entertained while on Patreon they go to support you and to learn. I recently opened a Patreon account and have been sharing there everything, just today I posted a real time almost two hours long video tutorial. It takes a looong time an it really is work, we all have to pay bills.

    He empezado a usarlos hace poco así que estos vídeos me vienen genial! Cuando los mezclo a mí me queda un resultado como más sucio, no sé cómo explicarlo. Quizás porque no elijo los tonos indicados para mezclar 😅. Sería genial que hicieras un vídeo detallando qué colores utilizas para los tonos de piel y para conseguir los tonos de sombras y luces 😊.

    • @YolandaBlazquez
      @YolandaBlazquez  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Me alegro mucho de que te sea de ayuda 😊 Puedo intentar hacer uno de mezclas para diferentes tonos de piel, me lo han pedido unas cuantas veces. Los colores normalmente se ensucian o agrisan (o desaturan) cuando los combinamos con sus colores complementarios (los que están en el lado opuesto en la rueda cromática) aunque no hace falta que sean exactamente opuestos para agrisar. Si ponemos mucho blanco o negro también desaturamos. No son fáciles estos pasteles 😅 mi mayor problema es que las marcas tienen pocos tonos para poder elegir en comparación con el pastel seco.

    You rub the pastels with your fingers, or do you wash your hands after each color so as not to stain the light tones, or is it enough to wipe your fingers with, for example, a paper towel. I love your art. 😍

    Que preciosidad!! Me ha encantado ver el proceso! Parece que es una técnica para tomarsela con calma! Me ha llamado la atencion que has ido construyendo los tonos directamente de izquierda a derecha ! Casi me da un ataquito cuando hay rallado encima xD pero es muy guay ver que no es tan facil como parece y lo que hay detras! Sigue asi !! ❤

    • @YolandaBlazquez
      @YolandaBlazquez  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ayyy muchísimas gracias! ❤❤ Es la técnica más difícil que he probado con diferencia, al menos para conseguir este tipo de acabado. Normalmente construyo (con otros materiales) todo a la vez pero con estos pasteles, como pongas la mano sobre lo que hayas pintado se lía parda así que es más fácil tener planeado lo que quieres hacer e ir de un lado al otro. Aún así los recomiendo un montón! Están muy entretenidos, frustran a ratos pero no te aburres, no 🤣
