Seeing you write NOPE all over the first try almost gave me a heart attack! 😅 Hahaha you’ve got guts! It’s not easy to scrap something and start over! But seeing the end result it was definitely worth it! ❤❤ me encantó el resultado!
Muchas gracias!!
YOU ARE SOOOOO TALENTED!
Ur drawing is amazing ❤❤❤
Same; if I could paint something that amazing I'd be leaping for joy, lol.
The smoothness you achieve is incredible. I look forward to more of your videos!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it ☺️
Here's a fact. Gallery mungyo oil pastels work best on canvas. And sennelier most on smooth bright even surface wood panels.
Already tested. Have both. Based on results
Oil pastels are the most difficult medium I’ve ever used, so I’m surprised to see what you’re able to do with them! Subscribed
Thank you so much! 😊 I can’t agree more, they are the trickiest medium I’ve ever tried but I promise that I also struggle with it sometimes
Exactly 💯
Okay --you my friend, are the best portrait artist I've seen with oil pastels! Bravo!
That’s so nice of you to say ❤️ thank you!
The yellow lights on her jawline and the highlight just making her beautiful ❤️ and stuning and aesthetic ❤ i'm totally in love with this
Lovely Yolanda! I would suggest always adding just a touch of the “background” color into small shadows of eyes, around nose, under chin/jawline, in hair, forehead, etc. As if she is sitting in the “air” around her! It unifies the portrait and contributes to 3-d effect. Nicely done! So bold of you to write “NOPE” on first attempt! Gives inspiration & hope for us all!
Thanks for the tip! ☺️ When I know something isn’t working I don’t mind to properly ruin it haha
Your artwork is wonderful. It is so kind of you to always tell people your techniques. :)
Thank you so much 😊 I’m glad that it’s helpful
Exactly
It was a great lesson for all when you rejected your first try, showing that you do not compromise your end result. It also seems that a good quality of great teachers is that they don’t shy away from exposing their little insecurities. It opens the dialogue with the students and potentially making the learning process in both directions. Very nice video, thank you!
Thank you so much! I think it’s also something that comes with time. Years ago it would have been harder for me both to share my failures and to get rid of works that don’t go well because of the effort I had put into them. Now I find more valuable what I’ve learned from making a piece that the final artwork itself.
I enjoyed this pastel journey . Your voice is a piece of calm music that accompany the magic of your hands
Thank you so much! ❤ I really appreciate it, I became very self conscious of my voice and my tone once I started recording it. I never noticed it before.
Your work is simply transcendent! Good gosh! I can't wait to see more!
Thank you so much! 🥰 I’m happy that you like my work
That was amazing!!! I can't wait to watch more of your videos! I really want to hear more about your technique.
Thank you so much! ❤️ I’m keeping my tutorials on Patreon but I’ll bring more videos like this here too
Once again you have rendered me speechless on your talent!!! So smooth and beautiful technique.
Wow, thank you so much! ♥️
Exactly ❤❤
It's evident that you put a lot of time and effort into your art. The results are absolutely worth it. Bravo!

Ur first try reminds me on how I work I'm so happy I'm not the only one that writes no or nope on my drawings or paintings 😂 I love you're work ur so talented 💓
Hahaha there are more people like us doing it it seems 🤭 it’s going straight to the bin so it really doesn’t matter. Thank you! ❤️
Your workflow with oil pastel is amazing🤩 And great knowledges in anatomy allow you to draw in so realistic style!
Thank you very much! 🥰
wow.. such a beautiful piece! I am also amazed that you can use those big sticks and get such fine line detail. I can't seem to do that. I get a large smear.
Thanks a lot! I "sharpen" them so they get a finer point, also sometimes I use a paper stump for the finest things like eyelashes
WOW! You make me want to learn pastels. Watching this was magical.
Thank you so much! ☺️ oil pastels are really fun to play with
stunning artwork and great process video ❤ thank you for this!
Thank you so much! ❤️ I’m glad that you liked it
So natural and beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Yolanda, I consider myself to be a pretty good oil pastel artist but this just blew my mind,,,great job! I use pastelmat but havent tried it for oil pastels yet. I teach an art group and one of my students has and says it is great. I have currently used the Sennilier oil pastel pad.
Thank you so much! I’m sure you would love using Pastelmat, so far I haven’t found anything like it. I’m still searching though. What is that Sennelier pad like? Does is allow layering?
@@YolandaBlazquez i use pastel mat forother mediums but just havent tried oil pastels on it yet x
@@johnsartmaterialguidestuto7757 I meant for oil pastels 🙂 I also use it with soft pastels. Btw I just found Sennelier’s fixative! Can’t wait to try it
Your work is impressive! Thank you for creating this video and I'm looking forward to the next ones 😍

I actually really like the first piece with the nope and the smiley face on, I think it's fun 😂 I would hang that on my wall if you sold prints of it. Also thank you for sharing your process ❤
Hahaha I would send it to you if it wasn’t long gone 🤣 thank you so much! ❤
So wonderful, a very nice touch in beautiful painting
Thank you very much! ❤️
@@YolandaBlazquez You are very welcome
I love your beautiful art. Thank you for shareing it. I want to learn to draw like that 😊
You’re welcome 😊 and thank you!
oil pastels really aren't easy to deal with, since it's dense, soft and messy to use sometimes.
But you? Literally amazing!!
you've got skills, best portrait artist using oil pastels!
Thank you so much! They are tricky to use, specially because of how messy they are, I have to be pretty careful while painting
Your paintings make me feel like I’m walking in a dream.
This is such a nice compliment, thank you!
I have never seen oil pastels look so soft and well blended. I used to hate oil pastels. This video changed my view. I mainly did watercolor and acrylics but after finishing my current actylic painting, i’ll start my first ever big oil pastel project
Good luck on your painting! I believe you can achieve great results with any medium but oil pastels are a bit tricky and it takes some time
@@YolandaBlazquez yes, you make it look easy! And that is what i call talent :)
@@Lampey22 it’s only practice 😊 anybody can do it
I really love that you talk about oilpastels ❤ I would love to hear your thoughts on fixative/varnisching, and how to store oilpastel artworks.
I think I will make a video about it ☺ thank you for the suggestions
You are amazingly talented. This is absolutely beautiful. You are also very sweet and maybe a little too hard on yourself. ❤️ Stunning

Superb... awesome painting ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😀
Many many thanks 🥰
Your oil pastels are Outstanding. You know that medium is considered the hardest. 😊
Oh thank you! ❤️ I found them to be the trickiest at first but after a while you realize they aren’t that different to other mediums.
Very nice technique, thanks you so much ❤
I’m glad that you like it 🙂 thank you for your comment

Thank you so much 🥹❤️ I appreciate it
Hey your oil pastel paintings are superb. I really appreciate this superb work. I'll try this. Love from India 🎉🎉❤
Thank you so much! 🥰 have a nice day
oil pastel is simply the best media imo, you can do smooth like this, or blocky...whatever, and its just awesome and easy to fix and adapt as you go.
It’s very versatile, it surprised me but I still find it to be tricky to use. I’d love a wider color range though, that would help a lot.
Beautiful job.
Thank you!❤️
beautiful work
Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much!
It's a very beautiful painting Thank you for video
My pleasure 😊
I love oil pastels also but since I do other media it would break the bank but I really admire them and know that I would love it 😊
I understand, that’s why I don’t have that many colors and I could do just as well with less (I buy them open stock). Thank you 😊
It was enjoyable. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing!!!
Thanks!!
I just like the NOPE painting was amazing incredible ❤ i like it a lot ❤
Haha I would have a collection of them if I kept them
Brava Yolanda.
Thank you!
Extremelu beautiful
Thank you ☺️
Very nice 👌 portrait of oil pastel colour 👍❤️ thanks . Good morning 🌅 of all guys 😊 .
Thank you ! ☺️ have a nice day
You rub the pastels with your fingers, or do you wash your hands after each color so as not to stain the light tones, or is it enough to wipe your fingers with, for example, a paper towel. I love your art. 😍
I only wipe my fingers with a paper towel, that’s enough ☺ thank you!
@@YolandaBlazquezI see someone already asked my question and you answered it!
I have been away from my passion for art too many years. 1997 was the last year I produced paintings and drawings. Thank you for sharing your very inspiring and instructive video. You are very talented. I look forward to returning to my art and look forward to more of your videos.
I hope you go back to create art, you must have missed it very much! It will feel wonderful to be painting again
@@YolandaBlazquez Yes I have missed it and I will. Thank you.
beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Magnifique de délicatesse !
Thank you so much! ❤️ Merci!
Thanks for the learning; valuable lesson, keeping up the good work
My pleasure! ☺️
Muchas gracias! Me alegro mucho de que te guste 😊
Masterpiece..😍
Thank you so much ❤️
