At 1:05 in this video is where this coaster stalled when we went on it. A mechanic had to push the coaster to get it rolling again. I was rough and not a great coaster memory.
0:53 Fun fact: You can still see Turn of The Century's supports and footers of where the track originally was, and how the new track connects to the existing structure.
I rode Demon back in 79 at the ripe old age of 7. Ha! No matter how old it gets, this coaster will always have a special place in my heart and soul because Demon was the very first coaster I ever rode which had loops.
This is the first rollercoaster that made me cry on the lift hill, I was so scared but after the first drop I realized it wasn't so bad and I had a blast!
It would be incredible to see this returned to how it was the first few years. Rocks back, tunnel lights working, the blood red waterfall and the ponds back, and the original entrance sign.
CGA vet here, started going in 2005 as a kid and I remember there being a voice in the starting tunnel. It did an evil laugh at the end but can't remember the words it said at the beginning. I love this park so much!
The demon is the first looping coaster I ever went on and it is my favorite to this day but I live in a different state now and miss being able to go on all the coasters throughout California
The Demon here in Gurnee still has the lightbulbs in the tunnel and the rock structure around the second loop. We sadly don’t have the waterfall anymore as it became too expensive to keep running. Something that was added recently on the Illinois version that had never been on the ride is the audio of the demon himself laughing evilly right as you enter the rock face that leads into the double corkscrew and glow in the dark eyes in the pre drop tunnel before the lift as you exit the station. It may not be the most popular ride in Six Flags Great America right now but the park seems to be doing a good job of keeping up and running for its age. II give props to California’s Great America for doing the same despite the missing features.
@@tigerrocks503 Our demon here in California’s Great America got updated so basically it is pretty much yours, we got the light bulbs in the tunnel as well as the evil laugh, and after we take the 2 loops we go into this other tunnel with flashing lights and than we have the corkscrews and it go’s on through there
@@tigerrocks503 im not sure if it's new for this season, but the face also fills with smoke a few seconds before you enter it so the train goes right into it
@@tigerrocks503 In 2021 we also got a smoke machine or mister inside the neon head going into the corkscrew. I don’t know if they have it right now, because it’s apparently hard to sync with the ride
I hope they revive these oldies again! Now that both great america’s are under the same umbrella again they could do them both at the same time. The one in gurnee, IL is always so dead but I still love it. Any kind of change or facelift could breathe new life into them. Almost 50 years, guys! Hop to it!
Demon is pretty fun. Hopefully Demon Reignited returns sometime soon. Everyone should appreciate their Arrows, especially these older ones, while they still can.
The demon is going to turn 45 next week on the 20th just two days before the park opens so hopefully a 45th anniversary will be created with the park as well 😁🎢
EMINENT DOMAIN THE LAND, SANTA CLARA! YOU CAN DO THAT! *SAVE GREAT AMERICA!* I'm tired of all the greedy real estate bullshit in the Bay Area. Santa Clara should be designating the park as a registered Historical Landmark and keep it from being forced to close. Been going here since the early '80s. I love this place. 😭
I just rode this coaster and it’s fun don’t get me wrong but it feels so dangerous it’s so shaky and the metal has “that” smell that I can’t explain in words it’s so hard to stay in place on the corkscrews and I whipped my head a bit on the drop (I’m fine) but my back hurts their should be a lot of changes
I had hope this would be salvaged but now I'm 100% sure it will become parts for the other demon. They will keep the track and any mechanical part. Sad because I wanted to bid on it when it went to auction. Start acquiring coasters for my own park.
Hey I think you guys should contract someone to reinvision the tunnels with modern LEDs. Give the coaster a good send off before its ultimate demise sometime in the future. Considering Arrow was from the bay area it would be a very nice gesture and much appreciated.
This is an old model coaster. Back in the day, this roller coaster was the big deal! By today’s standards however, it’s a pretty mellow laidback coaster.
Where's the dip at the bottom of the first drop? When did it become a straight angled drop? That always left you feeling like you left your stomach there.
Guys I was thinking about croud funding to buy this ride. Would any of you guys support my efforts? We have probably 5 years befire this ride is removed that is more than enough time to get the funds needed to buy the ride and have it relocated.
Kind of but not so much if you can like keep your head forward or keep your head up and stiff and still as possible then it won't be that bad it's turning 45 though so I don't know how it's going to turn out because I haven't ran it since October of 2018 so we'll have to wait and see when the park opens.
Six flags great americas it better. It fits with the terrain and has cooler affects. Six flags added lights in the tunnels and rocks to the surrounding area.
Hey cedar fair are you interested in selling this ride. I know you'll scrap it when the park closes. Didn't know if you would use it for parts to keep corkscrew going. Let me know ide love to restore a old arrow coaster and this one is just big enough to still be thrilling after all these years.

It’s so cool that they put the lights back in the tunnels again. I just went last week it was so fun
This is not my favorite one at the park, but watching the POV gives nostalgia to when I was getting into coasters!
They still haven't fixed the lights in the tunnel? I remember as a kid in the 80s when they still worked
I am old enough to remember when this was as extreme as coasters got. Only the coolest kids would go on this.
