This was the first Stephen King book I had ever read. When I heard they were making a movie, I got a little nervous because Stephen King’s adaptations can really be hit or miss. I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the performances. Especially from Tom Sizemore.

If y'all have the dvd, there are some legitimately funny outtakes. My favorite being Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Jane in the backseat and Duddits says "Un urm ill earl." Tom Jane starts a riff, "One worm? Would kill the whole world? Not just Boston? Not just Massachusetts? Not just the Northeast? East of the Mississippi?" At some point Donnie Wahlberg drops character and goes, "No! Dude, I said 'un irm ill earl!'" The Tom Sizemore interrupts in character and shouts something like "Where are we going?" To which Tom Jane replies, "Oh shut up, you're gonna be dead in a half an hour anyway!" Why I remember it so vividly nearly 20 years later, I'll never know.

I enjoy watching your reviews because you cover so many movies others don't.
This is the first "Dreamcatcher" review.
As a veteran of 53 Stephen King/Richard Bachman tomes, I feel they did a very good adaptation of a middle of the pack effort. That said, obviously, the book is far more graphic.

The DVD contains the original ending, in which Duddits defeats the alien using a special power, but is not revealed to be an alien. He then succumbs to his leukemia and dies. Jonesy and Henry then visit his gravesite in the final scene and sing "Blue Bayou."

Wow. I remember buying the DVD of this years ago without knowing what it was about. The cover looked interesting to me. Watched it when I got home and I was a big fan of it. I think this was the movie I thought Tom Sizemore was a good actor. RIP. I also love the head concept. Where the alien is trying to find out his secrets but they're locked in a secret room. Gave me an idea for a concept for my own story.

I read Stephen King wrote this after he was hit by a van and had some serious injuries and was on some serious medications and this book/ movie was the result. My hometown, Belchertown, MA, is the main entrance to The Quabbin Resevoir, which was made up from 5 towns removed from existence in the late 1920’s. All graves were removed and moved to a separate cemetery and flooded (7 years to fill). Stephen King even came to visit as he wrote the book. 😊

I read this book before I even knew that the movie would be coming out 2 months later. The bathroom scene was literally how I imagined. Great movie, rushed ending, should have had a bigger budget.
No matter it’s still a fun watch.

Lol every Stephen King ending feels rushed.

I had almost the exact same experience. I read the book, told people about it and said it would make a good movie and then about 2 months later the trailer came out.

16:47 A very wise assumption Mrs. Movies! After seeing a strange event and then a military helicopter shows up with people dressed up in white gear, that is very sus!!!

My favorite part was when Timothy Olyphant read the minds of the keys to find them.

I named our little Shitzu, Duddits, because of this movie. My family was against it at first, but one by one they started calling him Duddits.

Would you consider watching 'Platoon (1986)?'
    Brutal Vietnam War film.
It stars Willem Dafoe, whom you also watched in 'American Psycho.'
It also features Keith David, who starred in 'They live.'
Also starring John C. McGinley, that nice doctor from 'Scrubs.'
And of course Tom Berenger and introducing Charlie Sheen.
