Just found a Costa Farm Peru and global green at a local Walmart here in CA last week. I wasn’t planning on going to the garden center on my trip but so glad I did. I just need to repot them now.
I HATE when they use that netting around the roots! Even worse is the when they use that thought coir that hardens around the roots and strangles them and wont let them grow out, that stuff is super hard to peel off without breaking most of the roots, every African violet I ever bought was planted like that.
Thanks for explaining the ball and sand method! I never thought about putting all the larger pieces of bark at the bottom and then the rest of the soil mix. Makes total sense.
I just got a hayii and I’m waiting for the soil to dry out more to repot it. I picked the healthiest plant they had ar Lowe’s, I even flipped it out of its pot to check the roots. 😆
Omg a few weeks ago I repotted the same hayii on my channel too! And it also came with the netting 🥴 I used very similar chunky mix and I stg it has exploded in growth ever since. I actually need to repot it again and add a bigger trellis, but I want the stems to be all on one side this time so I don’t have to keep rotating the plant 😆 The previous soil really is not the bee’s knees!
Yesss!! I’m excited for mine to explode w growth too! Also I realized right after I finished repotting too that what the heck am I supposed to give both sides equal sun?? Lol I’m not sure if I’ll put it under a grow light or put them both on one side like you did, but I think I’ll be moving them both to the same side 😅
Thank you Erika. Wow in that Peru. Looks beautiful for a Walmart plant. No I meant how extremely well that root system is. Both are beautiful. Going to check out the site 🌱❤🌱❤
Erika, ever since you posted the vid with the Monstera Peru I’ve been on the lookout for one. No luck so far but I think that will be my next plant if and when I find one. Keep up the great posts.
What would make the leaves on the Peru brown and crispy? I have two Peru's that I bought in store at Walmart. But after having them home some of the leaves turned brown on the edges. Any thoughts?
That Rhaf Hayi what you gonna do about the plank that it is on because it has out grown it? I got one of those plants and I tried to repot it so I can get the plank out and replace it for a taller one and my plant did not like that, unfortunately it died. I couldn’t save it then I saw little critters on it so I definitely gave up. I hope to find it again because I will definitely buy it and won’t make that mistake again. But I would love to see what you do with that. Yes as always I enjoy your videos💚
That's really interesting. I'm trying to find a substitute for perlite because it's so annoying to have it on top of all my pots. Do you think pumice is a good substitute?
Did your peru look sad and droopy a couple days after reporting? I used proper substrate and am careful with watering:( maybe it’s in shock but I wanted to know if this happened to others
No it’s growing really well now. I’m sorry to hear about yours :/ I think it might probably be in shock. I’ve noticed it does like to be watered a lot more frequently than I would’ve thought tho. So far I’ve been watering it around every 5 days. It might be bc of the soil mix I used. Hopefully thats helpful
Your Plants are gorgeous! Walmart?...I'll be logging on to their website momentarily! Question....since the Hayii was in very wet soil, will you water it now, right after re-potting, or will you wait a while until the roots are dryer? I had this same situation with my Hoya Australis Lisa....wet heavy soil...had to re-pot her and wasn't sure if I should water immediately after the re-pot....I decided to wait a few days, hope she will be okay...... Thanks again for another great video!
Question about terracotta pots.... i find that i get some kind bug (I think a spider mite, not red kind) that are constantly on the outside of pot. I guess they eat the organic matter on the pot. Do you notice same thing? Good bug or bad ?
Hello love i have never had this issue with my tc pot, supposedly you have a white mite infestation in your plants and you just happen to see them outside of the pot. Well thats my theory...😭
I agree they are probably springtails. Some of my plants have them too & they are harmless thank goodness :D but if you feel like you’re affecting your plant then they probably are some other pest
how do you find such great plants at walmart? i went recently and got a monstera deliciosa (10") for $15, but it looked like they were about to restock so there wasn't a ton of stuff
I probably will eventually! I just want the roots to heal first. Bc I’ll have to use a bigger pot for a bigger board & a bigger root system would work better for that
Ya they just grow them in those & pot up. If you’ve seen some outdoor flowers they do that too where you can just plant the whole “pot” into the ground. Also orchids will usually have a sponge or clump of some kind of moss at the center as well.
Mish: The netting is a biodegradable paper product that's used to hold the cuttings as they root. So they help the growers produce higher quality plants.

Erika, I had purchased both and seeing the roots make me realize that I need to repot mine too. Thanks for sharing! 💚🌿
Love the soil noise haha it's actually so relaxing/soothing! My boys are so loud & wild so I actually enjoyed that soothing soil sound 🥰

Helpful content. Thank you

Beautiful..
Sorry for mixing noises:
Me loving it: 😀
I just picked up a monstera peru and the soil looks so wet and dense. I’m fighting myself internally on if I should Re pot

I’m planning on replacing the board like what you tried. Now I’m nervous for when that time comes though
ugh idk about ya'll but i've not seen a monstera peru in walmarts near me:(
That's really interesting. I'm trying to find a substitute for perlite because it's so annoying to have it on top of all my pots. Do you think pumice is a good substitute?
Ya! It’s heavier so it doesn’t float as easily
u get full pots of peru there
That's an awesome Peru! I remember a few weeks ago in LA there was tons of Peru at Home Depot and most of them were unrooted 😂
Did your peru look sad and droopy a couple days after reporting? I used proper substrate and am careful with watering:( maybe it’s in shock but I wanted to know if this happened to others

I bottom watered it right after repotting since I went so long without watering it already. Waiting also works, sometimes I will wait too
👏 Love your M. Peru. I have a small one

Sounds like springtails. That's exactly what they do, so they are harmless.

Hi Erika,, good morning 🤗🤗🤗🤗

I bought it online! I don’t think I would ever find one in store. My Walmart’s are kind of bad in the plant section 🥵
🤒🤒 Hi, I am having fever, please wish me get well soon so I can care my plants
I have in this little pot of mine..
Will you replace the board?
I probably will eventually! I just want the roots to heal first. Bc I’ll have to use a bigger pot for a bigger board & a bigger root system would work better for that
yessss girl missed your face :)
😳
Why do they put it in the netting around the roots? Just asking as they don't do this to plants where i live
i'm pretty sure it's because they grow it in those then when they put them in pots they just add more soil.... somebody tell me if i'm wrong loll
