  • What can I say to my largest graduating class that I've ever had during my 27 years of teaching? You all started your high school years over Zoom. We didn't get to be together until March that year and through it all, you stuck with it. A lot of people in other classes quit along the way but your class seemed to lean on each other and stay connected. That was really something to see. Some of you have been with me for 7 years since picking your instrument at Tibbetts Middle School and others got to join the team during that COVID year as Freshmen. All of you brought something unique to the group and I truly have enjoyed seeing the growth, maturity, musicianship and camaraderie develop. You don't know this yet but you will appreciate this journey for the rest of your life. High School is so formative and even though you may not remain in each other's lives, you will always feel a fondness toward each other for the phrases we've created together, the rhythms that we drilled over and over and over again, the tenacity that I tried my best to develop in each of you. Always remember, "Early is on time" - that one thing will put you ahead in so many ways as you go forward in life. Remember too, that everything is hard at first but STICK WITH IT, break things down to smaller chunks and then slowly put it back together until it all makes sense. This will be true about SO many things in life. Well, I'll sign off now and leave you to it. It's time for you to fly out on your own. Best of luck to all of you. Keep in touch in whatever ways you can. Invite me to your college graduations and weddings and bring those babies to love on when the time comes!! : )
    Clap on 2 and 4!!
