If this video doesn’t scream to your honesty with the people I don’t know what will. Scotch Porter had a downright insane affiliate program. For you to potentially walk away from that is NOT to be taken lightly!
Fable Beard Co. in my opinion most beard companies have affiliate programs, rather one is in a position to do more or less is up for debate. Also in my opinion, it’s nothing to walk away from if their in target going forward. So nothing to sell online as far as an “affiliate program “. So what is anyone walking away from? At the end of the day, I believe SP is doing something bigger and better for them. What’s so different from what Beardbrand did? They gave everyone “white label” available in target. Noticeably different from silver and gold line. Price points, scents and some ingredients. But it’s beard brand right? At the end of the day it’s about growth and change. I’m not mad at all SP made it to target. I’m actually happy for the company and the owner. He may not be the people’s champ like beardbrand owner, but I love the hustle and how far his brand has come. 💯

Scotch Porter undoubtably has the largest affiliate commission compensation in the industry. (This is no secret) With that in mind, Dan still shared his honest opinion, though negative, without fear of backlash. In short, money doesn’t mean everything to some people. As for the moves they are making with their company I am more than ecstatic for the growth of another company, whoever they are. It shows the future potential of the industry and allow others to grow from that experience.

I feel exactly the same way. Everything about what they changed is exactly what I felt set the apart from other products. I hope my supply can last me long enough for them to realize their mistake, bit if not then I'll have to find the next best product to use.

John Clifford respectfully why would “you” need to switch over because of the review? Maybe you will like the change in your beard? NO DISRESPECT toward Dan C or any other reviewer with my next comment. Buts he’s giving his honest opinion on his thoughts and feel about a product which is awesome and much appreciated. BUT, you or I may love the product even if Dan is the bearded teacher right? I’ve never used their products but I do agree with Dan on a major issue for my preference which is “very limited.” I don’t like a butter or balm that is a consistency of sour cream at all. I tried that recently in two different brands and hated it. But I bet some love that feel. Anyway just throwing some thoughts before everyone just jumps ship on a product.

Hi Dan. Hope all is well. I still have a bottle of the scotch Porter beard wash that I need to use up. But was wondering, did you consider it a gently daily wash, or a once type of week cleansing wash?
I work outside all day. In these cold dry months. I've been using the new balm quite often. I'll start with an unscented oil and then wait a bit before applying the Scotch Porter beard balm. I don't really have the option to reapply threw the day. This is a morning routine till I can get out of the elements. The balm has helped alot.

Dan C Bearded They may have switched the ingredients a little bit but still do the same things. They still have a wash, conditioner, leave in conditioner, serum and balm. The balm and serum are probs the most different from what I heard, personally for me with a short beard, I think they have the best products on the market currently, the balm is ultra-hydrating for me but I have never tried the old products. I might pick them up in the future.
I agree with everyone saying , being I've said it myself , why change something that isn't bad?. If it isn't broke , don't fix it. I went through my last original scent container and I have 4 of the scented containers left that I as well will be cherishing and using only when I need to use . Sucks that all of their products have changed . I think the containers themselves would've been great to use in the corporate world of "target" . I hope they make a change back to the old stuff in the future. Best of luck to them 🤘🤘

Unfortunately they did this maybe because target made them do it for the corporate aspect of it and I really dont think they will secede with the new stuff if the consumer such as us watch Dan's channel for a honest review on it ! Off topic a bit...i personally havent used a scotch porter product....but anyways i use mad viking beard co oils balms and wash and they have worked tremendously on my beard..and my beard is really sensitive...if you havent tried them out i highly recommend it...and if you do try it id live to see a review...thanks Dan for your always thorough information

Just ordered 2 of them from an online vendor in NY. It was the last 2 of the original formula. Can’t wait til they come in. I hit a gold mine finding them!
Have not tried a lot of different washes and conditioners but I liked scotch porter shampoo and conditioner and as always when I find something I like it's gone "now what the h**l do I do" thanks for the heads up but what a disappointment ☹
While possibly having a longer shelf life might help them in the long run at big box stores, you recommending their products help them more. Hopefully they listen to the people and fix this because I haven’t seen any positive feedback yet. It’s definitely a “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” type of thing. Definitely a bummer.

Love and appreciate the honest review (as always). It really is a bittersweet situation and I hope to see another company blow us away with a new conditioner. In my eyes this just makes room for another company to shine.
I only used SP conditioner. DanC gave a good review of DGC's conditioner. I bought it. I quit using SP. I use the conditioner with the DGC Beard Poo. I am amazed at how nice my beard looks. My .02
I know you may not want to 😅 but could you do another review on the conditioner/leave-in? Both of mine are pure white, I’m not sure if they changed anything since you posted this vid? They haven’t said anything about changing but mine isn’t even a hint of pink. I’m skeptical to use it as I’ve seen more than one person say the new products dry out their beards (specifically with black beards, as ours tend to require more moisture)
Apparently they are extremely inconsistent right now. People are buying and some are pink and some are white. Consistency issues! I will likely not be doing another review, unless they have some changes

I commend your integrity on this. The company will likely not lose much from your negative review in light of the sales they’ll make from the jump to target. They made choices to make money and sacrificed the quality of their products. You, however, have a lot to lose and likely will los because people who trust you and bought their products with your links will not anymore. You did the just and courageous thing even though it harms you. That says a lot about who you are. I commend you. May there be more people in the world like you, and may more imitate them. Peace!
Hopefully it will be a Coke, New Coke scenario. Glad I purchased their 4 pack at Christmas. I think all beardsmen should contact them and request a return to the original formula. I already did. Hopefully they'll listen to the community that supported them for so long.
Blazing Beards that’s a great idea for those who love their old products styles. Who knows maybe they will be able to have a Separate department with a classic verision that can be purchased online only? Random question: I ordered liquid gold by beard octane, but I open the bottle and barley smell anything. It smells decent but its super light and doesn't last long in beard. I'm wondering if that is how it's supposed to be, or maybe I just got a bad batch?

Dan, got a tip for ya. When you bring the product closer to the camera, put your palm behind it ( as if you were using your hand as a 'stop' motion, and it will bring the product into focus much quicker. 👍
Finally tired it for myself and not really a fan. Not sure if it’s because it’s my wash and condition night or just the new formula, but afterwards my beard felt stringy. Makes me think maybe they made it this way so you’d have to buy the balm and serum to get that fluffy, full, and light feeling.

Dan C! Im six months into my beard journey and just now decided to trim my side burns and i feel like i messed it up man. It seems like it fans out around the neck line now what can i do to even it out any advice would be greatly appreciated
The old scotch porter conditioner lingers in my beard all day! That's one reason I don't use the leave in conditioner as a leave in conditioner. I actually use it like a regular conditioner, wash out at end of shower. But even doing that, I can smell it throughout the day over my oil and butter. I may have to try this new one out just to see if it works for my beard or not

Was a little disappointed that they had a lot of the old formula products and none of the new. Watching this now I'm sad they changed the formula but glad this pharmacy still has a ton of the old product. I won't be ordering from their website. Appreciate the honesty. I really like the jar conditioner, especially that it doesn't have a heavy scent that will end up fighting with beard oil scents. Glad I stocked up during the holidays, guess once those run out, I'll shop around a bit. Retail is certainly a larger market, so from a sales perspective, it makes sense, but it wouldn't be the first time going mass market reduced the quality of a product, saw it with some of the vendors I used to work with.

I feel exactly the same way. Everything about what they changed is exactly what I felt set the apart from other products. I hope my supply can last me long enough for them to realize their mistake, bit if not then I'll have to find the next best product to use.

NO DISRESPECT toward Dan C or any other reviewer with my next comment. Buts he’s giving his honest opinion on his thoughts and feel about a product which is awesome and much appreciated. BUT, you or I may love the product even if Dan is the bearded teacher right?
I’ve never used their products but I do agree with Dan on a major issue for my preference which is “very limited.” I don’t like a butter or balm that is a consistency of sour cream at all. I tried that recently in two different brands and hated it.
But I bet some love that feel.
Anyway just throwing some thoughts before everyone just jumps ship on a product.

No one should ever make conditioner DIY! Most small batch companies do not even make their own. They have labs manufacture for them

Old scotch porter vs beard octane conditioner?
Both great and very close!
I work outside all day. In these cold dry months. I've been using the new balm quite often. I'll start with an unscented oil and then wait a bit before applying the Scotch Porter beard balm. I don't really have the option to reapply threw the day. This is a morning routine till I can get out of the elements. The balm has helped alot.

Dan C Bearded They may have switched the ingredients a little bit but still do the same things. They still have a wash, conditioner, leave in conditioner, serum and balm. The balm and serum are probs the most different from what I heard, personally for me with a short beard, I think they have the best products on the market currently, the balm is ultra-hydrating for me but I have never tried the old products. I might pick them up in the future.
I agree with everyone saying , being I've said it myself , why change something that isn't bad?. If it isn't broke , don't fix it. I went through my last original scent container and I have 4 of the scented containers left that I as well will be cherishing and using only when I need to use . Sucks that all of their products have changed . I think the containers themselves would've been great to use in the corporate world of "target" . I hope they make a change back to the old stuff in the future. Best of luck to them 🤘🤘

Off topic a bit...i personally havent used a scotch porter product....but anyways i use mad viking beard co oils balms and wash and they have worked tremendously on my beard..and my beard is really sensitive...if you havent tried them out i highly recommend it...and if you do try it id live to see a review...thanks Dan for your always thorough information

While possibly having a longer shelf life might help them in the long run at big box stores, you recommending their products help them more. Hopefully they listen to the people and fix this because I haven’t seen any positive feedback yet. It’s definitely a “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” type of thing. Definitely a bummer.

I only used SP conditioner. DanC gave a good review of DGC's conditioner. I bought it. I quit using SP. I use the conditioner with the DGC Beard Poo. I am amazed at how nice my beard looks. My .02

I know you may not want to 😅 but could you do another review on the conditioner/leave-in? Both of mine are pure white, I’m not sure if they changed anything since you posted this vid? They haven’t said anything about changing but mine isn’t even a hint of pink. I’m skeptical to use it as I’ve seen more than one person say the new products dry out their beards (specifically with black beards, as ours tend to require more moisture)
Apparently they are extremely inconsistent right now. People are buying and some are pink and some are white. Consistency issues! I will likely not be doing another review, unless they have some changes

I commend your integrity on this. The company will likely not lose much from your negative review in light of the sales they’ll make from the jump to target. They made choices to make money and sacrificed the quality of their products.
You, however, have a lot to lose and likely will los because people who trust you and bought their products with your links will not anymore.
You did the just and courageous thing even though it harms you. That says a lot about who you are. I commend you. May there be more people in the world like you, and may more imitate them.

Hopefully it will be a Coke, New Coke scenario. Glad I purchased their 4 pack at Christmas. I think all beardsmen should contact them and request a return to the original formula. I already did. Hopefully they'll listen to the community that supported them for so long.

Random question: I ordered liquid gold by beard octane, but I open the bottle and barley smell anything. It smells decent but its super light and doesn't last long in beard. I'm wondering if that is how it's supposed to be, or maybe I just got a bad batch?
Beard octane has lighter scents. They take the laws and regulations very seriously. That is exactly how I prefer it

Finally tired it for myself and not really a fan. Not sure if it’s because it’s my wash and condition night or just the new formula, but afterwards my beard felt stringy. Makes me think maybe they made it this way so you’d have to buy the balm and serum to get that fluffy, full, and light feeling.

Dan C! Im six months into my beard journey and just now decided to trim my side burns and i feel like i messed it up man. It seems like it fans out around the neck line now what can i do to even it out any advice would be greatly appreciated
I would let it grow a little bit and see what that does. If you're still not happy after two weeks or more, go to a barber and see what they can do

The old scotch porter conditioner lingers in my beard all day! That's one reason I don't use the leave in conditioner as a leave in conditioner. I actually use it like a regular conditioner, wash out at end of shower. But even doing that, I can smell it throughout the day over my oil and butter. I may have to try this new one out just to see if it works for my beard or not

Appreciate the honesty. I really like the jar conditioner, especially that it doesn't have a heavy scent that will end up fighting with beard oil scents. Glad I stocked up during the holidays, guess once those run out, I'll shop around a bit. Retail is certainly a larger market, so from a sales perspective, it makes sense, but it wouldn't be the first time going mass market reduced the quality of a product, saw it with some of the vendors I used to work with.
