    Just what I was looking for! Great video! I didn't want to take the chance and fabricate my handlebars. I am a lil more comfortable after watching this

    Nicely done. I had to do to this recently to put some new bars on my CB750. A major pain in the butt. I used the same method you did....hand drill to get started and then the Dremel to widen the holes and clean them up. I didn't have the template. Used a different dremel bit as well...and a small hand file at the end to file the edges.

    Thanks!!! Love this idea! But I don't want to trash my original bars. But you gave me idea to make the template with some tape copying the original bars.

      No reason why it shouldn’t work.

      @@KeepOnWrenching only thing is have to figure out position of levers before drilling holes. Any ideas?
      I'm mounting superbars backwards to get the like clubman bars

      Again, thanks for these videos! I wouldn't have been able to put my basket case back together without them. Still a bit to go but at least it looks like a bike again

    Were you not worried about weakening the alloy bars?

      Not really. I suppose it could be a thing. I like the original bars much better. This was an experiment.

    i understand the need for neatness and i love this ide but i would have just made some unseen holes unperfect BECAUSE i wouldnt want to cut out the template

    is this alloy handle bar?

    You could have used a grommet in that space to avoid shearing the wires

    couldn't have just used a tape measure? Seems like a lot of trouble to cut bars and cut them in half... could've used a piece of tape and transferred the markings that way... whatever floats your boat!

      I liked the idea of having a template guide. I could have just used tape too but yeah I like that old bar set to keep things on track. These replace the bars are pretty thin. Easy to mangle. I thought of it as more of a jig.

      You don’t have the original bars?

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t have to cut them up. Just make a rigid template.
