Such an underrated singer. A magnificent Baritone. No one can touch him in this role. The RCA recording with Bergonzi and Price will never be bettered.

Fine voice especially on recordings from the 1960s but usually regarded as not so interesting in terms of his dramatic interpretations. His tone color is certainly attractive on complete opera sets with not the pitch problems that affected some of his LIVE performances according to the late Paul Jackson writing in his series of MET a broadcast surveys. For me Sereni sounds very much the same though whether singing Carlo Gerard or Count Di Luna but his sturdy & impressive instrument was heard to advantage at the MET for more than 25 years. His voice would certainly be welcome there now.
