Before the closure the Singapore office was ordered to liquidate their positions, but they were unable to sell about half a dozen Chinese names. As I worked for the Risk Dept my boss told me to look into this. What I found was that these companies, which had been purchased on Chinese exchanges, not only no longer existed, there was no evidence they had ever existed. Our Singapore traders had relied on these Chinese exchanges to do their due diligence before they listed these non-existent compnies which was obviously a mistake.
