  • A Parody Style Review of the 2020 Fat Bob Harley-Davidson. What was the inspiration surrounding the style design? The Fat bob has a unique look that doesn't relate to any bike in Harley-Davidson's long history of making motorcycles. Matt and Andrew of Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson take the bikes out for a rip. Learn about what makes this bike one of H-D's most Performance-based cruisers in the lineup.

      That & the discontinued FXDR. I don’t get why they discontinued it, I’ve been trying to find one in good condition with reasonable miles for a decent price. All the ones in my 250 mile radius are either low miles &at least 5k over MSRP or high miles at MRSP give or take, or private sale looking abused for a high price since “it was a limited run, I know what I got”

      @@AlexanderHonsVonEber No back pain whatsoever. But I did not yet rode more than 2 hours. I wanted to change the seat the first thing (into Mustang) but after riding for a while, decided not to for now - the seat is totally fine. The passenger seat real sucks. Just bought a 2020 FXFBS about three weeks ago. It's the best performing softail, period. Rips the lowrider S around the track. I love mine.

  • @miketodd8640
    @miketodd8640 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    One of my favorite Dyna/Softail HD's. I liked it when it first came out as a Dyna. Then they hacked up the back end. Still had my attention. Then it switched over to the Softtail. I took one, and several other of the new Softail's, for a test ride when the factory truck was in town. I walked into the dealership to mull things over after my rides and there was a Sport Glide. This was the week they were released and there was not one on the truck. Off I went on a test ride on the Sport Glide and that is what sits in my garage. Dress it up or strip it down. The SG checked all the boxes for me, Stage III added at purchase. The M8 in the new Softail frame is a hell of package! One for everyone. And I've got bags to load up with. Thanks Matt another great video. Let's see a FLSB review.

    Matt, great review, LOWRIDER S HANDS DOWN! I’m 65 and had them all, Touring Harley’s, Sportsters 1968 XLCH and 1970 XLH both factory bone stock which I still own and a wide variety of metrics. BUT, even at 65 it all boils down to one bike after owning them all.... it boils down to my LOWRIDER even for long distance riding which I do from time to time. My touring bike is just not as fun as my Lowrider. So, if I had to pick just one bike to own.... it’s my Lowrider, end of story!

    • @MattLaidlaw

    So it's off the table for me.

    Otherwise its a great lookin and performing bike.

    Great job once again Matt. I just bought a 20' Fat Bob in performance orange. I owned a FXDX and a twin cam night train for many years. This M8 motor and softail chassis put the Dyna and old softail to SHAME in my opinion. This bike is awesome. I had a stage 1 done with S&S slip ons. If I ride conservatively I can get 50 mpg. The combination of power, handling and comfort is fantastic! Great intro with the Zombie theme, just luv it and all your videos. Don't change a thing in the way you do them. Hope your doing alright during this pandemic!

This bike has a great rider position for both me 5’10” and my wife 5’5”, seat is very comfortable, bike rips around city streets and stays planted in corners. Don’t look past it give it a try. Both the old and new Fat Bob are bikes I love to see but will never own. I think with the new M8FB, Harley really nailed it in the style with a unique performance cruiser vs street fighter (Ducati Monster) look. If a performance cruiser ever has a look it is the M8-FB, others like old FB and V-Rod never really made it, old old SteetVRod getting close. I think the new M8FatBob is much more popular to the old DynaFB, by what I see around. It would be interesting how much the Fat Bob is selling. For example the Softail Sport Glide is top selling HD in the UK for 2019, and also 2018.

    I had a 2013 fat bob - it was awesome. Now have a FXSB, which I love, but the fat bob was such a better handling bike and much better clearance. I love the M8 fat bob. The old dyna suspension was a real kidney puncher over even small bumps. I'm guessing that's sorted now on the softail frame.

  • @jeremyneufeld6541
    @jeremyneufeld6541 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ridden both Dyna and Softail versions. I told the salesman the Dyna was confused and doesn't know what it wants to be. The forwards just don't fit the low drag bars. The brakes were horrible as well. The softail version had a lot of power and has better individual styling but the tank is what kills it. No way I'm getting a 3.5 tank with a 114. Seat was uncomfortable as well. But it at least seemed to understand its role and identity versus the Dyna. If this bike is the only true "new" style as opposed to bikes with "lineage", then that should tell HD what buyers want: bikes with classic style derived from their heritage. Nice attempt at selling these though. There are tons where I live and they just don't sell.

    Matt, thank you for the vid. Im really liking the fat Bob. I'll need to test ride that bad boy. I just got a 2019 Roadster from Bakersfield where I'm at. What kind f jacket are you wearing in your videos?

    Hey Matt! New to all of this, except my father has had bikes his whole life...Panhead, Shovelhead, etc. I am a beginner (42), had a dirt bike when I was 14...that’s as far as my “experience” goes. Haha. I’m about 6’5” and 220 lbs. Would like to have a good all purpose bike, not going on any cross country trips to Alaska...what 2 or 3 bikes to look at? Price aside, love the vids and honesty. All the best!

    6’3” here. Thoughts on this bike for a tall rider who doesn’t want to mess with the touring bikes?

    I love the fat bob matt and I would take it over the low rider s and fxdr. And I would take the fxdr over the low rider S. Great video. God bless.

    I would pick the lowrider S I had a lowrider 2018 and that bike handle so well beginners could ride that bike now I have a 2018 heritage 115 anniversary

    I actually LOVE the FXDR, but where I think HD missed the mark is because there is no storage possibility at all. Even a backpack on a sissybar. It would be my no. 1 choice if you could carry anything.
    Otherwise, I prefer the Low Rider S but I want to test drive this before choosing my next bike. (90% and more mountain twisties - in Switzerland, that’s how we roll)

      I like the FXDR too. I'm sad not more people like it.

    I love the bikes front so much, especially the headlight,
    I just wished they would have gone with something more modern in the back,
    like the last year dyna Version with the two LED ring brake lights.
    It just looks a bit like two bikes smashed together front and back in my eyes.
    The Dash looks ok, but I think the small riser clamp Dash integrated flush into the tank would have looked killer too.
    Other than that I think HD really did good on the Fatbob.

    Love my 2018 Fat Bob. Loved the video. Thanks Matt! I would upload my post-covid-apocalyptic video of my Fat Bob hoarder WalMart raid but after riding it through toilet paper isle throwing tear gas grenades everywhere I thought that maybe that video evidence should disappear.

    Perfect video for the times. Up for a another video idea....reviews of best bikes for passengers. I've got a '18 heritage and my wife has been riding more than I planned for. Looking for a bike that would be most comfortable for her.

    I actually agree with this that Fat Bob is the best Harley out there I got back in riding after 20 years and I test rode a lot of bikes I think the best suspension was Ducati X Diavel but after that out of all the Harley the most enjoyable bike was Fat Bob and yet I caved in and got a fxdr just because it has a fat 240 rear tire and a 4.4 gallon tank.
