    A 40 bb max 1-2 game? Screw that.
    One of the reasons I enjoy cash more than tournaments is playing deeper. Most the rooms around me have a 200 bb max buy in for 1-2.
    Love the Vlog! I think a Vlog catered to new players is a good idea. Kind of a niche within a niche. Hope it takes off!

    • @EdwardKhrisFernandez

      It sucks but even worse. I just saw the next game over is the 1-3 with max buy of $100. Thats about 33 BB. Unbelievable. I appreciate the kind words!

    So weird to see this game being played with almost all $1 chips, but if the max buy-in is only $80 then... I sense you can play more aggressively in position (bigger opening raises and c-bets) and clean up by getting lots of folds. Interesting channel. I want to see how this progresses. Good luck.

    4th hand, you gotta bet to tell the tale your still strong. bet check bet is just kind of a weak line. preflop raiser (you) is gonna c bet when checked to at a large frequency. Q on the turn and you slow down. the $20 bet on the river when an inconsequential card comes off and vilian can smell a weak hand, like Ace high. its tough to bluff at these limits, not enough behind / good enough SPR (stack to pot ration) to have much fold equity. I think you'll have more fun at slightly higher stakes.

      I personally think its okay. Definitely a good start for people getting into live casino play, but long term, I don't think so! Unless its for the most recreational "have fun" vibe. Although, I never really had "fun" at a Commerce Casino game as its usually regulars there who seem to be in a bad mood.

    At my local casino the buy-ins are minimum 100 bb and maximum 300 bb. I love it! Rake is 5%, cap $10 and no tipping is allowed. And all winnings are tax free, even for professionals.

  • @emergencyfish
    @emergencyfish ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A player's range is said to be capped when there is an upper limit to how good his hand can be. Capped ranges usually originate from a player taking a more passive action in a spot where he could have taken a more aggressive one. - from Google!

    Nice video! I'm no pro but with the AT hand I think the river bet should've been a check knowing the board hits your opponents range more and you have showdown with A high. If going for the bluff I think it would've been better to bet on turn when the queen comes out. This is because when checking turn then betting half pot on river your range is narrowed to basically a slow played queen, jj's, 10's, or nothing, and it looks like your opponent recognized that and went for the hero call (or is just a calling station). when you bet turn on this scenario, you can continue to represent kk's, AA, AQ, etc. trying to get value out of weaker holdings.

  • @emergencyfish
    @emergencyfish ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can definitely win money at low stakes poker! There are tons of people who think way less than you do: the superstitious ones, the ones who go there just to have fun, etc. My tip for beginners: stay alive, don't be "nitty", play your image, and eventually the huge ones will get pushed your way.

    • @EdwardKhrisFernandez
      @EdwardKhrisFernandez  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hang on, 80 is the MAX buy in for a poker game at the famed Commerce in California?? What in the heck is that?? Eighty?? I thought I heard wrong and that the 80 was the MINIMUM buy in NOT the max, lmao. Anyway, I've never ever seen a buy in THAT low for a 1/2 game anyhwere and I live in Florida, sir, which if you know anything about card rooms in general in the U.S. we're CHOCK FULL of 1/2 games with action sooo heavy it sometimes feels like you're playing in a 2/5 game even 5/10 at times, lol! I hope this is the beginning of a successful poker vlog journey for you, but please spare us any further 80 max buy in poker vlogs!! Also, I'm your 100th subscriber!

      I've been playing at Commerce, Hawaiian Gardens, bicycle casino for the past 15 years.
      All of these casino's lowest stake was $.50 small / $1.00 big, $40 min and max buy-in for the past 15 years. The craziest thing is the rake. They collect $5 for the casino and $1 for jackpot every hand. If 3 or 4 players limp to see the flop, there is no money in the pot. Everyone starts betting from the $0 pot if they want to continue to play. Bicycle was the only casino to have $40 min/max and $80 min/max. Recently, all of these casinos got rid of $40 min/max and changed to $40 min/$80 max and the rake increased to $6 for the casino and $1 for jackpot. So every hand, they collect $7 total. This the same rake as the $2/$4 (small/big) $100 min / $200 max buy-in game. This is the worst rake you'll see anywhere. Even if everybody folds preflop, the casino takes $1 for the casino / $1 for the jackpot so as a result, small blind loses $1 and and big blind loses $1 when nobody sees the flop. This the worst game but most popular. But the funny thing is the $40/$80 is the most popular game at Commerce, Gardens, and bicycle's casino and they usually have most running tales in the casino especially on Fri & Sat nights. Until now, no vlogger ever recorded from the lowest stake from these casinos and uploaded to TH-cam. That's why people live outside of southern California don't know about these low stake poker games even exist.

  • @Chanur2000

    1/2 no limit is a game of the cards, even more then the players. 90% of the time your opponent isn't capable of recognizing moves where your Ace high is likely to be good so will call far more often. Play the big cards suited, big pairs and be prepared for huge swings. Eventually you'll win out simply because of better pre flop play. The smallest games in the house are simply grind with the hope that the other players are going to make enough mistakes to counter the high rake compared to the stakes. As others have pointed out here, when you're reasonably sure you're good, you need to be making bigger bets that will most likely be called simply because 1/2 players are almost incapable of laying down a hand if it costs less then 15 bb ($30) Of course there are exceptions ( I.E. you're playing with a 90 year old rock, a promo. Pro, etc.) Make them pay for the privilege of seeing your cards and remember the adage "Big hand, big pot, little hand, little pot."
    Good luck, and btw, stop playing out of the rack! :)

    Just a fair warning, the rake is so high in this game that it is impossible to win. Hell, if there is one limp and the blinds complete the rake literally takes the entire pot! Ive seen this happen before and its hella amusing watching the look on people's face when it happens lol. Anyway, I would play the 5/5 at a minimum at Commerce. It also has the advantage of allowing 100bb buyins (its 300 to 500 buyin), so real poker can be played.

  • @SunRunPokerr

    You need to cbet more and realize that you are betting after checking two streets which doesnt make sense when the board doesn’t connect to your perceived range. You need to study your ranges more. Also playing 1/2 with less than 100bb isnt very standard, but this casino seems like its standard there which blows. Ig its a good casino for you to practice at.

  • @theejayzeeable
    @theejayzeeable ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In ur AT bluff hand, preflop and flop werent bad bets. AT is at the bottom of the premium hands range, so u dont want to go crazy with it, especially missing the flop. The turn Q was the card to bluff on with a minimum 2/3's of the pot bet(to represent it) because it couldve hit u as the pf raiser. Most of the time u take down the pot there, so its a longterm profitable play. Sometimes u'll get called and u can just shut it down. But if u know ur opponent is a calling station, dont bluff him at all. The biggest rule of bluffing is never bluff a calling station.
    U want to move up to the 2/3 game the next time u play because the 1/2 casino drop is almost 4 big blinds taken out of the pot. Thats highway robbery by the casino. That game shouldnt even exist. The casino takes a lot from the 2/3 game too, so on hands that u would limp, make it like a 3x raise pf so that theres a pot to scoop when u win one.
    Its good to see an LA vlogger. I'll be following u. I play in LA too. Try not to tell the table that ur filming though, because I dont think it's openly allowed, so film discreetly and u shouldnt encounter a problem.

    just move up to the 2/3 game and head over to the bike, 300 dollar max buyin for 2/3. Commerce takes so much in rake from the 1/2 game that it is impossible to beat in the long run. you need to win 3 bigs per orbit, to make up for the fact that they take 6 bucks everyhand

    I say u need a lot a lot and I mean a lot of studying. Just watching the A10 hand made me feel sorry for you. Preflop its not so bad, but poorly raised, flop that misses you totally vs calling stations it’s definitely a check even in position. Q turn its about the only card as preflop raiser that may give u some bluffing room. River bet its awful both in size and strategically. Great structured vlog by the way.

    On the 4th hand that board doesn’t hit your range very well, I think checking flop is the best play then betting turn and river if opponent checks back, otherwise check fold the flop, sizings could’ve also been bigger for flop and river bets but understandable that you didn’t go large as you’re capped at $80 buyin
