Are they a good pump do you think, have a 2,500sq ft gouse looking to install 3 of these. whats the difference between the tha Alpha and alpha2 do you know? #
Hi, if I put our alpha 2 on autoadapt it stays at around 4 watts which isn't enough to heat the house at all. Any ideas why it isn't changing watts like your example does?
HI . 4 watts seems like you have something closed, check valves on your system one may be closed, 4 watt indicates that there is no flow in your system ad all. Are your zone valves are powered on? Did you just installed this pump or just turn the system on ?? if it happened now is possible that you have a pipe frozen and there is no flow in your system it is very cold at this moment.
@@786otto It's been running for years. The zone valves are all working although I have a recent issue in that I can only get heat upstairs or downstairs but not to both. I have tried rebalancing and cleaning the system (cleaned all downstairs radiators and put in Fernox F3 cleaner) but that hasn't worked. When I turned the pump on after cleaning the system it has been going really high (35W) on setting III and starts making a noise so I have had to reduce it. It never used to go so high on that setting! Someone has suggested that I needed to use a stronger cleaner which I am going to try next.......they think that the boiler and pump are ok. If a second clean doesn't work then I'll be left scratching my head! I will check for any closed valves but I don't think there are any.........any suggestions which one might be closed?
@@babu7141 is it possible that one of your zones is really small and another very large heating area, circulator will pump water where there is less resistents if you have this case try to use one of the valves that is in your system and choke/ close larger loop a bit, to time when both zones are getting similar amount of flow. Tell me more about your system.
@@786otto i am not sure the valves can be choked down, they are either open or closed, unfortunately. The pump is in the airing cupboard upstairs, the first valve the hot water pumps to is the upstairs circuit of 6 radìators (4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms), the second valve is the hot water cylinder and the final valve is the downstairs circuit of 7 radiators. I suspect the downstairs circuit is bigger as the initial issue was two radiators furthest away not heating up downstairs. To try and get those working I initially turned all lockshields down to just a quarter turn on all other radiators and left the two problem radiators fully opened. That seemed to work for a short while but now they don't really get hot even when rebalanced in the same way. One thing I have noticed is that when both upstairs and downstairs are both calling for heat, the pipe after the valve for the upstairs circuit is piping hot and I can barely touch it, whereas the equivalent pipe for the downstairs circuit is only luke warm. And, when I go downstairs and feel the inflow pipes to the radiators they are stone cold. However, when only downstairs is calling for heat the inflow pipes to the radiators are hot but i cannot get those 2 problem radiators to heat up even with the lockshields on the other radiators downstairs turned down to a quarter turn on. Sorry for all the info! Any suggestions are welcomed!!
@@babu7141 Valve may be closed on the loop that is not working, but more likely your pipes are frozen since you get 4 watts on the pump, I would not recommend more cleaning, that is not the problem, water can be in the system for many years, and longer in system better it is, new water is bad for your boiler, 35 watts after cleaning and noise indicates that there is a lot of air in the system and needs to be purged. Just read your reply you may be in UK in US no one calls water heater cylinder :) from what you just told me some radiators are not working and some do, do you have thermostatic valves on your radiators? if so they need to be balanced to work properly, is your system plumbed right? the best way is to have two pipe direct return pipe plumbing or manifold. Look on radiators for the air vent and open it to let the air that may be in the radiator. Why don't you make a video of your problem and post it? If any of this doesn't help call a professional heating guy.
Not sure if I understand , but if pump makes noise it maybe some other problem . pump may be old and needs replacement , possible to much or not enough pressure in the pipe system . it maybe hard water that you pumping and water in your system needs boiler treatment that conditioners the water . I do not use UPS for my pump ,but use power regulator for my boiler . It may be good idea to use UPS if your power supply is not steady. Also check your power polarity
Hi i think those are the best there is .I have one on 4500sq ft five family house and worked perfectly last winter it was pumping one large loop of beasbord and 16 radiators with thermostatic valves .pump adjust it self to demand You saving a lot on electrical power ,if that matters to You . i think alpha 2 has a union connection lock on grundfos site find more info there
I am just using it for winter season, but trying to remember to plug it in few times for short, during summer, make sure don't get seized. This one works with thermostatic valves, so it pick up speed when valves open
yes I just need it for winter heating, I would say just leave it plug in, I am sure this unit slows way down in the summer time to only a few watts but just plenty to keep the water moving and the munchkin also needs a pump to move the water any time the unit is on so the burner it self does not burn up. I will call the Mfg
Just want to leave a comment, this circulator works great if You have multiple zone valves or thermostatic radiator valves, You can remove your bypass valve during installation if it is retrofit. If you have just one zone or replacing circulator in one of your several circulator zones, this pump is not for your system!! Jou will not gain or improve anything by installing it except spending your hard earned money for no reason !!

My Taco 007 makes a lot of noise when it starts and stops.
Yes time for new one, but when chusing replacement everything depends on your hydronic system
I have cast Iron base board heat, Two Zones, I have a set up for a third but not using that one right now.

Was soll der Film? Kein Kommentar, keine Erklärung, nix. Jeder weiß wie die Pumpe aussieht
