- In one of my recent videos, I hooked up with a huge striper in the surf and it destroyed my Lucky Craft Flash Minnow. In this video, I made a quick modification to the lure and then tested it out in the surf to see the results. Needless to say, it worked! Check out the video to see what changes I made. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

Fished here with my sons and daughter in law. 9/8/18. Total we caught 5 nice Perch and a 20 inch striper. Had bites most of the morning. Weather was great. Good times with my kids!
Beach had quite a few guys fishing when we got there at 7:30.
I was up northern CA above Eureka last week. Fished the beach at Thomas H. Kuchel Visitor Center for some huge Perch! Fished the Klamath for a smelly skunk. No Salmon.
Love your videos! Keep it up. When I can’t get out I watch TH-cam fishing!
Thanks for watching! Some monster perch up north from what I hear. I would love to fish it sometime!
Just found this channel, I dont fish but its relaxing watching you fish, feels like am there. Nice video bro.
Even the older shows remind me of fishing up in Northern CA. Remember the half moon bay days, the ocean beach days, and mussel rock trips. Great stuff! I do miss the stripers down here in SoCal.
sweet myfriend, i got a 33 " striper and a 17 1/2" ( let go) this morning 4 barred 2 red tail perch all on lucky craft! tight lines my friend!
Nice work!!!!
what size lucky craft ??>?
Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "fishing rod surf casting" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Wenayden Xenaylee Blaster - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my partner got amazing success with it.
Loved the video. Explained the fish, lure, and casting tips. Good video with no waited material👌👌👌 fish on man
Thanks for watching!
I fish the delta mostly chasing stripers and those fish will definitely straighten out your hooks. Strong split rings and hooks are a must.
Amen!
You make it look way too easy sometimes and I'm a little jealous lol. Really cool video.
Thanks for watching!
You may have already, but if not, try using the Owner Single Replacement hooks. The eye is in-line with the hook and made for replacing trebbles on hard baits. Less damage to the fish I found. I believe a size 2 is the correct conversion for the hooks on a flash minnow 110, but they have a conversion table you will find if you search them. Tight lines!
They make them in 3x strong too
Nice video! I know this beach. Grew up a few blocks away.
Hi! What this place name ? Thanks
which one do you use i couldn’t really hear. is it the 110(714 metallic sardine)?
I fished this beach for the first time this morning! Tried running same lure too - no luck but I'm sure if I keep watching I'll figure it out!
Stick with it! You will get them!
Im Looking to get in to a Little surf fishing. I’m curios about your set up, rod length and stiffness, line test and type, spinning real size and rate of return. I like that your tossing lures with success. Soaking bait gets a bit boring. Great video and thanks for the info!
When you said "tip" I was hoping it would be the location. Lol good catching as usual!
Thanks for watching!
@@DieHardFishing did you use any weight? Or the lure casts far enough?
@Rod Buster thanks for sharing 👍
@Rod Buster I just started fishing 4 mos ago n I'm hooked. Began W 5' pole then 7' but learning it takes longer. Not sure what size next. I've been relegated to pier n close to shore only W smaller rods.
Location: OCEAN. try it for yourself
I’ve been going out to ocean beach in SF the last couple weekends.. I’m just learning how to fish the surf but I appreciate your videos I haven’t caught anything yet 😂 it’s hard to get out there often, I live in Vacaville so it’s a little drive. What beach would you recommend fishing from?
wow! very talented!
Thank you for the video and tips!
Thanks for watching!
Looking to get into surf fishing with lures for perch and striper. Any tips for rods, reals, line, and lures but not to expensive because I am just a kid. Thanks.
If only the fishing was as good down in SoCal. Epic fishing day dude
You have the bigger species though!!! I would kill to have yellowtail up here!
dude we have corbina in LA
eric cruz try San Elijo if u live around there with sand crabs I always catch something(usually corbina)
Chaz Ajieré corbina dont bite as much as perch
Halibut-bass-and barracuda off the rocks as well as sting rays-sharks
great video. im new to surf fishing. what is the area you are fishing in this video. I live inland of SF about 30 miles.
im just learning how to surf perch fish. nothing but dinks so far, but looking for some better quality. any recommendations? ive been fishing just North of Bodega area. thanks!
I’m going surf fish for the 1st time ever, found your video and you making it seem so easy lol. What kind of lure was that?
I'm getting back into fishing have moved to SoCal 2 years ago. I appreciate all the tips....
Where are you fishing at Northern Cal or Southern Cal?
Glad to see the trebles held up!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome Vlog and thanks for the tip on the Lucky Craft! I just got my LC today and was wondering if you could tell me what knot you use to attach it to your leader? Any recommendations? Would hate to lose 20 bucks on my first cast with it lol
Funny, we fish the same areas and have never crossed paths with you. Hope to some day.. Happy Fishing! Mark Idemoto
Yeah! Hope to see you out there someday!
You've been killing them from the shore. 💪💪
Thanks! Always nice when the conditions line up.
Actually from suffocation by the looks of it.
Love your channel man
Great video.. What pound test are you using?
I was using 30 pound braid mainline and 20 pound test mono leader.
Yesterday was my first time on the surf.
First tried with lures (20 gram)
Wind knots every single throw, and every time i bait casted the line broke (in the middle, not the knots) while castimg.
sea bright ? gonna try my luck tomorrow what pound line ?
I love watching u fishing brother but can u tell us the location on all ur fishing spots I like to become a fishing man like u. Thx
Cool video Adam. Whats you dad up to these days? Been watching these You tubes with Everet and yourself and learning soem new tricks even after all these years fishing here. Take care Sea cliff Greg.
Hey Greg!!! Been a long time since I've fished with you. My dad is still getting out on the beaches on the weekends. If you see a guy fishing with a big lab/pit bull mix, it's probably him! Any fishing for you these days???
@@DieHardFishing Glad to hear you dad is doing well and your tubes are excellent. That big striper you got off the rocks was epic and about as good as it gets. Halibut fishing for us has been exceptional the last couple years and were still getting stripers however most are Salinas or Pajaro river fish under 10 lbs. 2018, released a 35 lb class black sea bass and also got white Seabass to 27 lbs off the beach at New Brighton. 2019 was Everet's hot year with that MTF tournament win for a cool $1000.00 bucks and I recall netting 27 and 29 inch halibut for him off the pier mid day on a low tide no less LOL!! Simply on fire. Keep making the You tubes you guys deserve some sponsorship to promote these newer lures from Lucky craft and Daiwa
Men this guy should have 100k subscribers by nextmonth..
Well if everyone shared this video with 10 friends we would be getting close!!!!
Nice 👍 catch and video
Lucky Crafts 101 👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Nice video what beach is that
Nice fish! Surprised stripers are still around.
They are out there!
Here in Bay Area, it would be super cool if you ID your location you aren't fishing from each day. Unless that's a secret. Great Work!
I would’ve been way more pumped about the striped bass lol. I guess you’ve caught so many it’s prob nbd for you haha.
Adam is a with out a doubt, a pro!
Super good tips. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Were you fishing incoming or out going tide?
Heck yeah, PERCH ON!!! Delicious 😋
I do't in the Bay area for 50 years. Did a lot of clipping along the surf up-and-down the coast. Some of those places look so familiar to me could you Let us know what reaches you were fishing at when you are in your kayak when you are fishing from surf and will you a fishing in the rocks. More curious than anything since I live in Washington State now I won't be intruding on your Flipping grounds. When you are putting in your kayak it looked like out of Bodega Bay. Was it?
Thanks for the video, got my first surf perch on Saturday off that same lure, not as fat as yours though. Going out again in a few weeks.
Congrats! Thanks for watching!
Hi- is there a size requirement for perch? # of fish per fisherman? Thanks!
sick man like the content im hopefully going to making some striper videos soon the weather is getting good.
Killer video I’m going out there this weekend hopefully I can get on some
Good luck!!!
Any kind of PERCH is a good meal!
Great fishing... Keep it up love the video
Thanks for watching!
Can’t find them like that in SD :( good stuff dude!
Thanks for watching!
When is the best tide, high or low .? Looks like a Rapala lure I have in my box. I'm new to the ocean fishing and I have been catching alot of really small surf perch no bigger than my hand. Your video came up at the right time. Thanks man...! Your slayin' it...
two hrs before high tide always best
New to surf fishing. Went out this week, but was getting hammered by the waves and every cast caught seaweed. Any recommendations on beaches? I was fishing near 26th
Anywhere with a sandy beach will hold surfperch. My best suggestion would be to stay mobile and keep moving if you aren't catching any fish. Usually most of the time is spent looking for the school.
awesome.
you tie your lure directly to your main line?
do you ever use a tactical anglers clip or will it affect the lure action?
marine6 My question too! Do you use a fluorocarbon leader? How long if so?
I have about 3 foot mono leader off the braid. I will do a better job explaining this next time.
Yeah the quick clips definitely effect the action
Nice haul for a day! Are you still fishing SF peninsula waters or have you moved down toward Monterey?
Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good vid and keep on fishing
Thanks for watching!
Where do you put the fish you caught? Are they just laying in the sand by your bag, or do you throw them into a cooler with ice? Do you have to kill them right away? How long will they stay fresh if you bonk them and continue fishing?
I usually have a fish bag to put them in. If I am going to have a longer day on the beach I will bring some ice. Yes, I kill them immediately. Without ice, they are usually good for a couple hours as long as they are kept in a cool place. One thing that you can do is bury the fish in the sand, that keeps it a little cooler than the ambient air temp.
nice surf perch!
Thanks!!!!
Did you fish in a low tide or high tide? And how long is the diatance that you casted? Was it behind the first wave ?
It was a high tide and I cast it as far as I can.
@@DieHardFishing thx !
Oh and the best way to catch more fish is to release them all back to grow bigger and make more fish! Striper fishery definitely needs all the help it can get.
Thanks for watching!
I’ve never fished for surfperch before, but l’ve been wanting to give it a try. If you don’t mind, may l ask you what time or month of the year is best to fish?
Winter is generally a better time for surfperch but they can be caught year round!
I am a 71 year old rookie. I enjoy your videos. My question is: when surf fishing I notice you cast from the sand. Why would you not go at least knee deep in the surf to cast? It seems like you would be able to cast out into much deeper water? Thank you.
Depending on how rough the surf is, I will wade out if it is safe. However, often times I can cast almost as far from the sand because I don't need to worry about getting blasted by an incoming wave.
Good video! What beach is that if you don't mind my asking?
Thanks for watching! I don't give out exact locations but it is in the Bay Area.
Good fishing bro
Thanks for watching!
Nice haul there, what other patterns of LC lures have you tried?
I haven't tried any other colors but I hope to soon!
Nice real nice.... I tried fishing the surf twice and got skunked both times.
is that
seabright beach
Looked fun man! And those perch were fatties!
Thanks, would be a nice snack for your last lingcod! lol
Hey, where did you go for Surf fishing. I am located in South Ca (Huntington )
Love the videos! How do you go about choosing a good beach to go fishing at? I recently just started fishing and have only done lakes, but wanna head out to this beach this summer. Some help with where I should head would be much appreciated
Honestly, any sandy beach will hold surfperch at some part of the year. I have found the best way to find them is to just get out there and walk the beach. Just watch out for those protected areas!
is this fishing video from california?
What type line, mono or braid and what lb test? Is that a Pointer Lucky Craft? Thanks for your great vids!
Flashminnow 110 suspended is the lure. Most people use 15lb or heavier line.
Kevin Nguyen Thank you!
The lure is linked in the video description. I was using 30 pound braid and 20 pound mono leader.
Sweet job keep it tight in S.C.
Thanks for watching!
When are you going to be fishing for Haddick again??
Lingcod? Very soon!!!!
What size minnow and is it a sinking or floating.
110 floating
No size restrictions on these perch correct?
None except redtail perch. Those need to be 10.5 in order to keep
yep!
dam I might have to give the lucky craft a try!
Give it a shot!
I would guess you tweaked the bill to make it run deeper, or more shallow, or side to side. OR, you bent out the barb/barbs on the trebble; I have seen that triple my hook up ratio. Maybe all knew hooks.
Might have to try this out!
Great vid and thanks for the upgrade tip. :-)
Thanks for watching!
Where is this?
What type of braid to mono knot do you use?
I connect them with a small barrel swivel to help prevent line twists
@@DieHardFishing thank you.
Ever fish the surf at night for perch???
What series LC is that?
nice striper!
Thanks for watching!
What’s the size limit for surf perch in ca?
Whats the furthest south u can catch striper?? Im from santa barbara
I believe they get to your area. They are much less common though
I love your videos. Enjoy watching you catch everything. But would appreciate it if you could name a few of the beaches you fish at in and near the Bay Area. You never say where your at? Please help.
What general area in California are you? Northern cali?
Yep, norcal.
What size rod you using for that luck craft
10 foot Shimano Convergence. It is linked in the description.
Looks like the hooks aren't available with Amazon. Do you have an alternative?
I like owner hooks as well. I would look for the same style and size with the owner brand.
@@DieHardFishing Thanks man you rock!
where is this spot at
where did you catch them
what pound test
How far does it let u cast. I feel like it’s tough to cast out.
Yeah casting is the hardest part. It helps to use braided line as that will allow for farther casting.
New to fishing . Can you give me some pointer on your setup ?
Yes! I will go over it in more detain in my next surf fishing vid!
Good video bro! I never seen perch like that down here in socal...
no? they have big ones down there too!
Spot looks like fire where is it?
VMC hooks all the way, the only ones to use 4x and 6x strong!
Thanks for the tip!
Nice catches man and awesome video! I've been fishing there the last three weeks after work and was just out there on Friday 9/21/18. THAT DAY MY CAR WAS STOLEN AT THE END OF ATLANTIC AVENUE! It is by where people park to walk to the lighthouse so be careful out there. The only good thing was that it was my old white 1995 honda civic so it was not worth too much. All this while I went live on my channel, check out my video, I caught some croakers with Berkely saltwater worms but definitely going to try out the lure you have on this video next time. Great information! I'm subscribed!
Congrats on the fish but sorry to hear about the car. Hopefully you are able to get it back! Good luck with the lucky craft!
Die Hard Fishing Yeah man thanks I'm finally getting a little better at surf fishing. We just filed the stolen car report yesterday so hopefully we do find it soon man thanks, but if not I guess we'll have to buy a new work car. Yeah I'm going to try it soon, although I think my lucky craft lure is a little different. I need to learn how to fish with lure more since I usually always use bait. Tight lines!
Good luck with the car. I'll keep a lookout as well!
What weight is your rod?
I believe it is a medium action.
Where did I catch ?
What beach?
Impressive!
Thanks for watching!
What line lb are you using?
15 pound mono leader, 30 pound braid mainline.
