Both the music and the clip are beautiful refined artistic statements, interweaving each other as complementary particles of this emotional compound. The pictures seem fascinatingly odd and the voice is so delicate and soothing. It was sheer pleasure to soak this up.
Through this music we are able to tap into our pure human core in a world filled with suspicion, fear, hate, self-centeredness, superficiality and false emotions. And all of a sudden we feel the sadness and nostalgia that we have strayed so far from that core.
I've adored Hania's piano playing for years - I just wish she'd sing more often: her obviously non-native English accent has a delightful dellicacy. Hania - if you read this - make more SONGS :)
"Home"... the lyrics at some point seemed to me so relatable. The song somehow translates feelings of impending loss, a state that oddly haunts the very feeling of being home for me. The feeling is so deep that I can't describe it properly. I will try though. I felt once this dialectics of being home: this place deprived me of everything I'd acquired during my outdoor roamings, just sank it into the every-night oblivion of sleep and neverending lethargy of loneliness. I felt like home deprived me of everything, left me empty-handed just waiting for another time I'd be able to get outside, and this feeling went on par with love towards my home, yet at the same time with understanding of home as a burden. I misunderstood the lyrics and that's how I interpreted a couple of lines: I felt like the line "No words to say, no place to go" was exactly about the feeling of being home, and the same way I thought about the lines: "When every single blast of hope / Is lost, is killed, forever gone", but apparently they describe other feelings that surround and precede the state of being home felt by a lyrical hero. Nevertheless I feel that there is a deep sense of impending loss to this song which I associate with my own experience described above. Maybe it's connected to the fear of this harmony achieved at home (by a lyrical hero once again) being disrupted.
I am so glad to have discovered Hania Rani. Her music is achingly haunting, beautiful, yet also technically demanding. Love it!
