    Thank you so much! The day when my fob decided to give up on me is looming in the near future. Your video made way more sense than the dang user manual.

    Nice one 😀 Only the second video on TH-cam that shows you how to change a fob battery correctly. All the rest will mean a trip to the bank and the ordering of a new expensive fob 😥

      We do try to give the best info out, and really appreciate your comments on the previous video. I actually find this new way a bit fiddly and it tends to chew the inside of the key a bit, but I agree, it cuts down all the risk.
      Thanks again :)

      @@TheCarKeyMan Yes, I wondered if the turning of the screwdriver would eventually cause wear on the plastic moulding, so that eventually this method might stop working.

    Hi, Thanks for an easy to follow vid and was easy to do. I only use the door sensors to touch open the doors from time to time and use the key fob most of the time (old habits die hard) but after changing the battery (Duracell 2032) the doors no longer open via the handle sensors? Any clues or advice on this one much appreciated. (Focus ST 2018).

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Malcolm, well as far as I know, there's no reason for them not to work anymore. The only thing I can think is that it's a poor quality battery and the car cannot sense the key when you are outside the car.
      Maybe you could try another brand?

    • @malcolmkeen7756
      @malcolmkeen7756 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCarKeyMan Cheers for the reply. It's a strange one, so I think the battery thing is a thing to check and see what happens by changing again. There's a lot of fake branded batteries out there online. I'll let you know. Much appreciated.

  • @mikewellwood1412
    @mikewellwood1412 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Appreciate this. Small point though: in this updated version, you do not show how to put back the piece that you took off at the beginning to remove the blade to allow screwdriver access. (I think the 2nd half of the new version is just the same as the original version). I assume it's easy to do, but there may be some "gotcha's" for us newbies. Many thanks. :-)

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, sorry about that. Do you mean the cover that hides the key blade?

    • @mikewellwood1412
      @mikewellwood1412 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCarKeyMan Yes. Anyway, I've replaced the battery successfully in both of our keys now, and it was very simple to put back the blade and its cover, so thanks again.
      BTW, am I correct in thinking that the blade can be used to open the car door if the electronic opening does not work? (I only just noticed today that there is in fact a keyhole in the door, although we don't have a key for it - not had this car long, although it's not new (nearly 3 years old). Thanks.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, yes, if the car battery goes flat you'll need the emergency blade. It's quite hard to turn just with fingers. Have you seen this?

    I used both methods but honestly the old way was so much easier for me. Maybe it was just my key faub that was difficult to pry apart with the screwdriver in that space. I can definitely see why this method is preferred, though.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeanie. It's a funny one. We still use the old method all day long and change hundreds every year and still will. I think the new method will chew up the key in the end. However, as you say, this method is the 'correct' one. Thanks for watching :)

      Hi, thanks for the comments. To be honest, we change hundreds of these every year and have never had any damage to a key.
      We didn't even know about the other method to be honest and don't like using it, because it can chew up the plastic in the key.
      However, this is the correct method, according to Ford.

      Hi, this is a feature on all Fords. There will be a procedure in the manual to change it from Global locking ( all doors) to selective locking ( just the drivers door) and back.
      It's not a fault
