    Respect bro, despite achieving all this, and having such great outlook towards life, You're down to earth, no wonder God has kept best things in store for you! And as far the answer is concerned, its the best one this question will ever have! Love from India♥

    Bro, I'm right now preparing for my interview and I asked my mom to help me answer that same question. She answered really similar to you and when she did it made totally sense for me. I wish you the best in the following 5, 10, 80 years of your life! You're an awesome person

    I feel you so much.
    I'm a new grad and landed on my first job in Tokyo as an international student, but I feel that there is so much to experience in life, that I shouldn't be limiting myself to whatever I know now.
    I will surely know so much more and make decisions base on my widened perspective down the years.

    My interview process was a little weird. 4 rounds. Interviewing for a job I was already working as a contractor. 1 technical interview with a coworker. He laughed and said he didnt have any questions because I already know you can do everything we need. 2 more cross functional personality and cultural fit interviews with individuals from different, non technical, business orgs. And a final conversation with a VP. She pressed me on what were the flaws of my current org and what I would do to fix them.

    It really makes you look inward when you come up with an answer to stump a hiring manager. The insightful response to this question "looking at your past, and trying to be in a place that makes you a better you." That is the essence of what we should all strive for and not stagnate at "just another paycheck." Thank you!

  • @KotierWolf
    @KotierWolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I think the answer you gave was very good and professional. I loved it. However, I feel the overall interview questions and answers will always be suggestive based on the company and the person interviewing you. I remember getting a similar reaction to from an interviewer answering to the "Why should we hire you?" question. The answer I gave them they said they never heard before. I skipped the follow up interviews they had planned for the others and started within two weeks. I used the same answer to a question somewhere else and they didn't like it too much. Probably a huge contributor to why I never heard from them again.
    Regardless I loved this video and it was very informative/motivating. First time watcher and subscriber as of today!

    We might have the same final boss. I was asked the same questions "Where will you be in 5 year?" but I went blank. At the end I reversed the table and asked the boss "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" ....
    The overall 4-round interview experience in Redmond was fun and I have learned and grown a lot from it.

    I was wondering what you'd say....When you began with going backwards 5 years ago, I absolutely exclaimed "PLAY OF THE GAME! PLAY OF THE GAME!" haha. It was absolutely mental.
    You're a marvelous story-teller as well; When you narrated the situation when the interviewer asked the boss question, it was so dramatic! I thought I was reading a suspense novel lol. I can't imagine you being silent for around 30 seconds uff.
    I learned a lot from this, even though I've my 1st interview in the coming days. So thanks for that.
    Lastly, the subtitles really help, as me and my friends have headache when listening to music (yes really), so we lower the volume.

    That answer didn't just "click in" for no reason. I had come up with that exact same answer during my interview last week. I was also unprepared for the question but, I have been jumping from industry to industry, company to company, moving from the US to Japan to China then finally to Canada, so I immediately realized why I made every single decision. This is absolutely a great answer, but we also need real life stories to back it up, stories that indeed show the drive that controls us to move forward, stories that really speak for themselves.

    Asking someone where will they be in 5 years is the same as asking who your future wife is going to be. Do you know? Do I look like a fortune teller to you? It's a terrible question to begin with because logically speaking none of us know what will happen in the future, especially 5 years from now. Otherwise, you wouldn't be in that situation going through an interview in the first place. We can only hope that we do the best we can at this very moment and keep striving to do better than who we were yesterday.
