The best tip I have ever received on this topic is to continuously go to interviews even if you are not thinking about a change. If you do so you will: 1. Be used to interviews and won't be nervous once you really want a change. 2. Know what the market is expecting from you and learn what technologies other companies are using. 3. Keep updated on what the market has to offer.
Hey, I don’t know If you’ll read this but here I am, commenting. I am Nesh, almost 5 years of experience as a software engineer but upon moving in the US with a dependent visa(meaning I am not allowed to work), I have my 5years gap. Did the homemaker thing for 5years and also built up my small YT channel. Now I can finally apply for a job, going back as a software engineer is my first move. I know that I already have an experience but still I have this fear. With the 5 year gap, how can I go back?? I am not one of the genius software engineers out there who can code with their eyes closed(you know what I mean). I find it hard now that I am starting again at 34. Reading a lot, motivating myself, studying, searching. Then I stumbled upon your video. This video hit me so hard coz I already knew all the things in this video. This was my strategy back then. I am not strong technically but I have this mindset that everything can be learned so I focus on what I already know, on what is in my resume and on my experiences that really brings out the best in me. I just want to thank you for reminding me. So inspiring. I hope one day, I can inspire others too. I hope one day I can go back to this comment and brag that I did it! God bless and more power to you!
What can you say about Glassdoor salaries? Are they true? If we should offer salary how can we decide our offer is good? which components we should compare?
hey, I loved your video and I already subscribed. my name is Fidel, I am 40 years old, I studied visual arts and since the pandemic I have begun to study programming, HTML, CSS, javascript and now python. A little scared because I'm already like I'm late. hehehehe but I just wanted you to know that your videos are funny. Good vibes.
Thanks! Appreciate it :p It’s never too late to learn coding now! I’ve seen plenty of people make career transitions and join as entry-level SWEs in their 40s! Wish u the best keep it up :)
Very useful tips! My final round interview at Microsoft is coming next week and I still feel I am not well prepared. Do you have any tips for the candidate at the last minute of the interview?
Recently found your channel, you have you some great tips!!
Great stuff.
One lesson I learned is, practice doesn't make it perfect. Perfect practice makes it perfect.

Channels growing fast now!! Bless the algorithm
Would be amazing if you could do a video where you answer the top 20 behavioral questions like you would in a real interview

The worse part of it all is how completely and utterly ignorant recruiters are when doing an interview. The cases of that not happening are very rare.
