An elevated station in Caprica City might give enough height from the start to avoid a helix up. Seen a few different options in the workshop maybe something tasteful lurking there.
Since the name of the series is "Evolution" there's nothing stopping you from evolving the passenger lines as you go 🙂 The main reason was for freight as you said, but going back to a few routes here and there to evolve and improve on them will be equally fun to watch 🙂 Really enjoying this series, Colonel! Looking forward to seeing you tackle freight, especially if it involves a whacking great goods hub (i'm looking at you TPF1 Metropolis 😁)
Freeze fram @ 3:10 opened dialog box . Commentery, why are you stopped ?? we've ALL done it, LOL Not seen the red inked STOPPED in the bottom right corner. Sorry Boss, but im LMFAO !!
27:58 I'd have twiddled the helix the other way around. The advantage would be that you can do a 360-50° turn instead of a 360+50° turn. Which would add less extraneous distance. My helix wouldn't be as above ground as yours, though. Also 43:46 Little bridge-end-discrepancy doodad. You might have not mentioned it because you wanted to sweep it under the rug. But above the rug is where I demand it to be, so that you can notice and fix it.
If you had used the elevation lines, you could have checked the elevation of Ov City in relation to Caprica, before beginning to build the line too high, you would've discovered that a helix wasn't necessary. But it's fun to see you realize that after the build, lol
The Colonel hates the topography lines. That said, you are correct and the Colonel would do well to follow your advice. And as we know, he will resist said suggestion, just because you made the suggestion.🤷♂️
You could have turned the helix into instead of away from the ridge, if you wanted to hide more of it out of sight. Other than that, actually looks like an interesting (if not profitable or entirely realistic) route!
I have a new house rule established for myself: as soon as the Colonnel bulldozes whole neighborhoods I quit the video. As much as I like the commentary - I just can‘t stand seeing half a city destroyed in order to connect it. 😂
You might as well stick to TH-cam shorts with such an outrageous self imposed ruling. Thousands of TPF/TPF2 neighbourhoods have succumbed to the Colonel's rampant bulldozer, and rightly so because progress.
I keep watching but silently seethe and shake my head sorrowfully back and forth. I love the Colonel's commentary and humour, and have for years, and Transport Fever is possibly my favourite game of all time. However the list of incompatibilities between the way we both play the game is longer than Mrs Miggins' forced-movement complaint letters combined...
@@mrhipbone Okay, we may agree that we disagree on this one. ;) However, no shorts for me - I love watching the colonnel building a bridge for 2 hours and rambling along ;)
It's the easy way but a couple of conmat & oil/fuel lines are proven earners to keep the bank balance happy while we indulge in vanity project 'scenic routes'
@@mrhipbone IRL such lines are most often built to transport coal or other ores down mountain ranges. That pays for them. Then later passenger connections (sometimes loss-making government-owned public transport) are added to the pre-existing lines. It's also, as you say, quite possible to do in TpF2...

I built my passenger station above Caprica City and it worked out very well. 👍
@@mrhipbone Nice, I haven't gotten to that side of the rivers yet, built up alpha complex through ankh morpork and my laptop is starting to struggle

I hear the residents of Ambridge have all signed a petition to change the name of the town to Avianistan.
The timing on that last shot, ending just before the train flies thru. Magic and wizardry.
Love the show ... however, maybe you look at removing the helix where it exits the tunnel and turn right ...
that first bit is simply the story of my (developer) life

Punchline in under 3 minutes :D
Yes, they were stopped so I could fix it.

39:16 - Couldn't run along the valley floor here to the mouth of that tunnel (just after the helix starts?)

The issue there is twofold: it's time consuming, and often misleading. Better off without.
@@colonelfailure You should try it out again. If you haven't noticed before, it actually tells you the exact height, where the cursor is, in meters.

As a shot across the bow to the rivet counters, your next line should be made up of one of each livery type for the Mk I's.
See, told you it's all broken 😂

Put the span in first, then connect the ends.
Unfutz it!
elevated station a city before ov city
The A4 looks good in red

@@papasmurfette007 That's a good one. Kudos!
But that's half the point. The Colonel bullheadedly does whatever he wants while you become deeply unsettled.
Humor is rooted in the absurd my friend.

Mixed liveries were not uncommon.
