I was a banker during this time. I'd cry in my car before work and almost vomited once from the anxiety of knowing I was doing something wrong. I was pulled off the phone and scolded for not opening 3 checking accounts for some lady. She called in only expressing interest about opening some Child accounts. I gave her info on her options. My manager then pulled me off the phone and scolded me for not opening the account. Saying "Priya this was a missed opportunity to expand the company." Got written up for not meeting insane sales quotas.
Closing the bank would not solve this issue, nor would it solve the issue in any other bank this were to happen within. What Wells-Fargo needs/ needs to continue to do is change its entire leadership staff, anyone who's a leader and knew about this needs to be fired immediately. From there the bank must commit to never making such a mistake again with falling to the influence of the corrupt. They need to make Transparency their #1 Priority from this point onward. They should also pay damages to any individual who was negatively impacted. Fortunately for Wells Fargo this scam inly effected a few hundred to maybe a thousand across the entire country in a negative way so there is less financial damages to repair but a ton of consumer confidence/reputation and trust.

I used to work at Wells Fargo as a teller in 2015 and got depression due to the same issues!! Worst place to work! I am glad that I am no more Wells Fargo’s employee! Please don’t try to work for this bank.

The kid that I sat across from started lying about how I needed an IRS busniess number, a separate checking account ,a minimum balance. All lies. When I brought up a ADA law,he said it did not apply to me as I could still walk. WTF .I. Informed up management and was ignored. Needless to say my family closeed all accounts.
They should have lost their license to operate ,This bank still retaining deposits from people to make them big problems with companies, should be put out of business. I stopped banking with them before they started getting this bad. I help an ex boyfriend of mine open an account with them one time. And they tried to steal his money not even 30 minutes after we catch them trying to lie saying he didn’t put enough money in the bank to pay a bill and he put $100 in his new account that day. They tried saying he only put $20 in. When they specifically said a $100 to open the account. So we went back 5 minutes later to see what was going on. And they tried tell my boyfriend he one deposited $20 in the account to open it which wasn’t true. So we got mad and told the to give the money back and close the account. And they said oh yeah your right he did put $100 in the account. We’ll put that right back sorry about that, that was our mistake. I told them nope to late for that. Give the money back to my boyfriend and close the account. And they said we promise it will never happen again. I told the tell either he gives my boyfriend his money back and close the account. Or I was going to start raising my voice and draw attention our way. And your customer that are all in here right now may just decide to a teller and ask for all their money out of their account and have their account with you shut down also. The teller looked at me with wide eyes and didn’t argue with me anymore. Gave my boyfriend his money back and closed the account. I had to help my boyfriend close his account because he would have let them get away with taken advantage of him, manipulating him and confusing him. That’s why I had to help him close his account so his credit would go bad. Because he had real good credit until some guy who was suppose to be his friends. Sweet talked him into signing a loan on a truck with Wells Fargo. The friend didn’t qualify for the loan on the truck because if how bad his credit was. Wells Fargo let my boyfriend co sign the loan..........which big mistake they shouldn’t have allowed my boyfriend to sign. Because his license was revoked by Dr orders because of his medicine he was on that made him drowsy. And he could no long operate a vehicle. That’s when I never went with Wells Fargo again.

I now use a prepaid card If the money is there it's there if not I can't somehow overdraft and have extra fees. Honestly I've had a good experience with my prepaid card and can use it every where

This practice isn't just a mistake, it's an actual practice of conscious effort to defraud the public, it's clientele, and ultimately it's own business to both increase the sales, profits and percentages of investment for top tier clients with millions to billions of dollars with them. I mean the very high percentage of interest for those with major funds in WF have to obtain that increase of 12 to 24 percent on their money in order to see growth right? And WF has to give that up to them in order to keep those billions right? So ultimately this isn't just WF, it's the billion dollar businesses and billionaires who want their high ROI back on their money pushing this as well. And obviously to balance out it's net profits, WF doesn't want to give up a cut of its baseline profits - that area of income after all debts settled in which the company can comfortably say that they have a sizable net profit of 24 to 150 billion dollars for themselves after Sterling out 65 to 200 billion in interests to its high end clients. Such an egregious act supposed to send people to jail, get them sued and cause a ripple effect that changes the industry for the better. See Enron, Lehman Brothers and any other company dead now because of high fraud. Wells Fargo should pay a very, very serious price for both the culture and the criminal acts of fraud by design (having you sign things that they knew would be used in this way), lying tactics, pressure and more. I bank with Wells Fargo, and I never had an issue with them. In fact, none of my money has ever been missing, and I never had suspicious activity with my account. -- It is in the PAST! Wells Fargo has been phenomenal too me. I love them, and will continue to bank with them.
