Great way to improve the look of the iconic chicken cooker! However, for this to work properly, there must be a hopper minecart under the slab where the baby chickens stand. It'll require your chest to sit a block lower, but the hopper minecart pulls items once per game tick, which is critical to prevent loss of items.
Oh my god, you may have solved the issue for sooo many people! I'm going to pin yoir comment. Thanks!
This design and kill method does produce more feathers than chicken, it always has. Chickens drop more feathers than meat. Make sure you have a fletcher villager to sell the feathers to for easy emeralds. Awesome build, I am going to build this next to my egg farm!
Love the design but would have enjoyed a more thorough explanation of the redstone and what it's meant to do just Incase troubleshooting ever came about
Thanks for the feedback! When chickens lay an egg it gets picked up in the hopper. When an item is in the hopper, it gives a redstone signal. The comparator therefore turns on, triggering the observer above it. The redstone dust on top of that observer is then lit up, which is seen by the observer on top of the chickens, sending a redstone signal to the redstone dust on top of the dispensers. This triggers both dispensers, breaking an egg (which the hopper transported into the bottom dispenser) which potentially gives a chick, and briefly dispensing the lava bucket killing off adult chickens.
Hope that helps!
@@nuvolamc awesome! Very smart using the comparator! Love how compact the design is!
@@nuvolamc I LOVE it when you explain how it all works!!! Thank you for taking the time to do it for us!!
really nice video!!! i've been loving the functional farms that look like actual nice buildings. if possible, do you think you could make a video for a tree farm? i think it'd be really cool if it was like a lumberjack kinda area with a functional tree farm. thanks for the tutorials!!
Great idea! A tree farm is quite a complicated redstone build (with a TNT duper). It's on the idea list, but this one might take a few weeks!
Thank you for this tutorial! It's cute, compact, and really easy to build.
You're welcome and thank you for the compliment!
You can also combine the egg ejection system with an existing fox-driven berry farm collection system if you have one. Slightly more humane (death by fox) and a very simple add-on to an already extremely lucrative farm.
So cute! Super nice tutorial! I'm going to build this in my world. Thanks for all the videos ❤.
Thank you! Glad you like it! 😁
Great tutorial and love funny intro!
THANK YOU! : )
Great design visually, but it is barely working unfortunately, you can replace the higher dispenser with a hopper on which the chickens sit and lay eggs, above the cobble slab put a cauldron with lava in it, then replace the slab with a hopper facing in the dispenser, for the auto-dispense mechanism put a comparator taking signal from the dispenser after it a repeater on 2 ticks and an observer looking at the repeater, below the observer put a sticky piston, now put 2 observers with their dots facing the hopper where chickens lay eggs (observers are facing away from it towards the back.
This way there will be no leftover eggs in the dispenser as well as destroyed items by the lava.
Besides that, I love your videos, they help me a lot with farm designs.
Love the design, it’s gotta fit perfectly with the horse stable and barn and silo I’ve built. Thanks for the easy tutorial. Keep up the good work.
Love this I got one but not as good as this one I thank this is going be in my world and upgrade lol
Excellent design! Try make a whiter skull farm, I will wait for it
Thanks for the suggestion!
I love your build design
Beautiful! :)
Does the carpet serve a function or is it just cosmetic?
I believe it’s so the items/chickens don’t get stuck.
What that person says :)
I don't know if I have waited long enough or not. I see the chickens or babies through the glass windows. I put exactly 24 chicks ontop of the white carpet. Made sure all dispensers and observers were facing the correct way. The slab is ontop of the hopper. I made sure the lava bucket is in the dispenser. It's not producing anything in the chest lol. I followed this build too a tee. I'm on Xbox Series X Bedrock.
It takes about 20 minutes for chicks to grow up. Sometimes the chickens are killed by the lava and (apparently) the items get burned in the lava. It should produce though!
@Nuvola MC Oh yeah. The problem was I didn't wait. It definitely started producing lol! Feathers alot too. More than Chickens. Great build man! Appreciate it!
Hey, I really like your work. For some reason, the top despenser has the opposite behavior than the one expected: The lava is continuously visible above the chicken, and when an egg is dropped it disappears for a while. Do you have any idea why is that?
Hm. Maybe scoop up the lava and replace it in the dispenser?
Did the hopper minecart altering. At six cooked chickens and nine feathers after nearly an hour. Plenty of "dispenser failed" messages. So it is producing, but thus far less effectively than hunting chickens in the wild.
Apparently you're getting unlucky with chicken spawns then! Give it some time.
Mine produced one cooked chicken and three feathers and nothing more, did everything exactly as on tutorial :(
Many baby chickens standing on the slab, but nothing happens when they get burnt. Don't know if it is the case but I am using stone brick slab, i think it should work as any slab
Hm, apparently this is a common issue. The drops get burnt in the lava quite often.
Do I have to put 24 chickens inside? or would 2 in theory be enuff, but it will take time till they breed up to 24? I am new to MC
If you use 2, it will take time to breed them up indeed.
Can you make a beautiful bedrock iron farm pls Thank you
I don't play bedrock, but I might be able to come up with one that works both on Bedrock and Java. It's on the idea list 👍
I did my chicken farm all out of oak and I like
It's not burning down?
definetly will use it on the mc world with my boyfriend
There is an issue with this now, once one chicken grows to adult. All of the baby chickens die as well. To avoid this. Use a trap door instead of a half slab!
doesn't work for me
@@Hihotka Yeah it stopped working for me too! I had to change it to a solid block. I chose to use an observer with a lava bucket so I could turn the lava on/off, but you could also use any solid block. You’ll have to reroute the droppers aswell. But it works :)
If you still can’t get it, I’ll invite you to my world and show you!
I believe the issue is that the lava is being dispensed the same instant that the egg breaks. When the baby chicken comes out of the egg, they aren't instantly standing below the lava but are floating mid-air, resulting in being hit by lava and instant death... I think. I'm not 100% sure.
Built the farm and it’s working great, but I’ve started having chicks appearing through the bricks? Like, just appearing on the ground next to the farm? Idk why this is happening and I’m so confused 😂 I’m on bedrock on Xbox if that helps
Oof, maybe there are too many and they get sqeeuzed out?
I am not sure what is wrong, but the chicken & feathers are getting burnt up by the lava instead of falling most of the time. I've had it running for hours and have only gotten 6 cooked chicken and 8 feathers?
From what I've gathered, it seems that the lava kills the chickens instantly rather than setting them on fire for a few seconds and kill them after the lava has disappeared. That leads to the cooked chicken and feathers sometimes being burnt in the lava.. I did not know this until I just researched it. Also, I get a lot more drops after an hour (23 cooked chicken), so maybe you are very unlucky?
@@nuvolamc I have had a very bad run of luck getting some of my automation in, lol. I ended up placing a block over the slab and turning it into a ... uhm ... Smashed Chicken instead of Fried Chicken farm? Bonus for the xp cooking the chicken later I suppose?
I replaced the hopper that is directly underneath the half slab into a Hopper Minecart and that seemed to solve the issue.
Replace the hopper under the slab into a Minecart hopper
Hi! How can you have smooth glass if you are using fabric?
At that time I had optifabric
Hmm, the dispensers are not triggering...do you have any idea what could cause that issue?
Did you place the comparator correctly? And are the observers the right way? Did you place redstone dust on the top dispenser and on the observer in the back?
Does it no longer work? I followed the video meticulously, but only eggs are being deposited in the box where the chickens should be stacking, and no baby chickens are spawning.
If it onbly fires eggs and they don't break, are you sure that the slab is placed correctly in front of the dispenser? Also, are you using a dispenser or a dropper?
Not sure what I did wrong but all I get is uncooked chickens. Ill have to go back to the old more reliable version. Thanks anyway
Ok.. let say i want the raw chicken.. to sell to the butcher that ive made for the Auto Cow Farm Video that uve made.. can i change the Lava to powdered ice too? to get raw chicken instead of the cooked one?
I see no reason why not!
You can just remove the lava bucket. Once 24 chickens are in the kill chamber, any added chickens will cause entity cramming and you will get raw chicken and feathers
On a quick note, campfires don’t burn any nearby blocks!
Yes, so I have learned from making youtube videos and people telling me!
@@nuvolamc On yet another note, your builds are amazing my friend, been binge watching all your tutorials for some inspiration 🙌
Hey, I'm playing on mobile how do I put the red stone on top of the dispenser?
Crouch, the place 😉
@@nuvolamc omg thank u, it works
Wondering if you need 24 chicks on the white carpet or can it be 24 chickens? I might have to build the chicken coop so I can collect eggs to toss in there to get chicks. I only had 8 eggs and none of them dropped a chick. Still need 24.
The chicks will take some time to grow up into chickens. The chickens will lay eggs immediately!
Thanks! I managed to get a few chickens in there and then my daughter has a coop so I stole a bunch of eggs from her to get the rest. All is well and running beautifully! Thanks for the outstanding tutorials! I've started to build the auto bamboo farm as well. It's working already. I just have to beautify the whole deal now. @@nuvolamc edit: Farm is working beautifully! Thanks!
I built this in my world but I’ve found the majority of the cooked chicken gets burnt and never makes it to the chest. Is there any way around this?
Yes, this seems to be an issue more often nowadays.. I tried explaining it in the comments somewhere I believe. It has to do with the drops popping upwards sometimes into the lava before being picked up by the hopper.
@@nuvolamcthere a way to fix it?
my main issue was getting 24 chickens. impossible to count when it's in that tiny spot. I guess it's easy to do in creative mode but when you don't know how many eggs will hatch chicks, it makes it really difficult
As soon as one dies off, they die of entity cramming and that means you have 24.
Which texture pack do you use?
Vanillatweaks
Quick tip if you want raw chicken for villager trades or cooking mods: dont add lava to the dispenser and put a full block in front of it instead.
So i guess that the chickens grow up, then they drop eggs into the hopper that then transports the eggs to the dispenser than then shoots out the eggs. When those new chickens grow up, they get killed by the lava? Is it not supposed to cook the chicken as well? It is not doing that for me.
It should! But it sounds like it dies while not on fire.
@@nuvolamcAfter a while i noticed that most chickens do get cooked, but some does not
For some reason my farm is only producing eggs, nothing else. Any ideas?
Did you place a slab in front of the dispenser that's dispensing the eggs? It sounds like the eggs your dispensing get sucked into the hopper before breaking on the slab.
@@nuvolamc I fixed it. I was a dumb dumb and forgot to place any chickens on the carpet hopper :P
love your design but for some reason this is just dropping feathers no meat, any suggestions?
Apparently drops get burned in the lava more often than not.. :( this farm used to be more efficient.
Does the chicken keep breeding on its own even without feeding them?
In the hatching chamber, yes
even tho I placed the lava bucket in the top dispenser, and it's going off, I'm getting raw chicken why?
Probably due to entity cramming?
I made this step by step. Everything seems to work fine. However, when the chicken is killed nothing is being produced. Can someone please explain?
The drops of the chicken are randomly 'popped out'when the chicken is killed. Sometimes it pops out upwards into the lava, destroying the loot. Shouldn't be happening all the time though!
Pls help. Mine is only producing feathers & raw chicken. I made it exactly like the video said.
*edit: i now have 9 raw & 1 cooked.
Hi there, that sounds strange! Maybe it is due to entity cramming? I have no clue what is happening. Maybe someone in the community?
@@nuvolamc it was an error on my part. Thank you though!
What was the issue?
I have the same issue
Aestetic genocide
Does this work on bedrock 1.20.71?
Yes!
cant get it to work :( dispenser isnt shooting out the eggs
Then the redstone signal is not coming through
Work this Farm with 1.12.2?
All builds on the channel are 1.19+. Therefore I cannot guarantee that it works for you.
@@nuvolamc ok ty
great looking design, but sadly it doesn't function at all, the chicks either don't get hit by the lava of the top dispenser or when they grow up all the drop items get burned
This seems to be an issue indeed. Mojang appears to have changed how items 'pop out' of dying mobs. In this case the items frequently pop out too high and get burned. That sucks!
Having the same problem, so this farm is not working anymore? @@nuvolamc
The dispenser just shoots the lava bucket out instead of producing lava
Are you sure you are not using a Dropper instead of a Dispenser?
It doesnt work for me on Java 1.20 :
Hm why not?
@@nuvolamc I'm not sure, I follow exactly what you did but it still doesnt work.... I even redo the whole thing but it still doesnt work .....
@@nuvolamc It works for me now lmao
My game is a bit buggy lately so i think that could be server issue!
I’m getting raw chicken 😢 help?
Sounds like they are dying of entity cramming? That means that more than 24 chickens are in the holding cell before lava kills one.
my chicken isn’t cooked for some reason
Then it died of entity cramming rather than by lava I think
Labelling this a java farm when it's a bedrock farm is not cool, produces only feathers on java
Hm, maybe I should rename it to Feather farm.
This is a little late, but I’ve built this farm on both Java and bedrock and it worked fine for me on both versions.
why is it fucking slow
I don't know. Have you tried adding more chickens?
chill bruh
L farm, vid too long. Never clicking this channel again :)
Ok!
