I just love watching the intelligent people reacting to this intelligent tv series

After spending the last decade watching politicians on both sides wreck national services, tear up diplomatic agreements and divide their countries… I long for a callous, apolitical Sir Humphrey type to step in and take charge.

Ministers of state come and go, but civil servants are there forever. This is how the White House has functioned perfectly happily despite the President not being fully 'fit' for some time.

The Government of the US actually suffers poorly as the top bureaucracy come and go with each president. This can lead to ...problems... On occasion new and dynamic solutions; but mostly problems.

What scares me is that you have a president that will choose option 3….

The complete Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister scripts were available in book form. Secondhand, surprisingly at a reasonable price!

One of the top 3 UK comedies for me. "Brasseye" and "The Day Today" being the other 2. It's great to see 40 years later and from a different democratic system you spot the truths leaping out.

There is a 'Yes Minister' clip that helps to explain EU (or back then EEC) membership despite popular hatred of Europe (that ultimately led to Brexit when stupid ordinary people decided things rather than people who understood trade and diplomacy - like the civil service). Sorry to hear that your incoming new political regime is going to wipe out your independent civil service that knows things in favour of temporary political lunatics - your chances of surviving until the next century will likely nose-dive.

This, and its predecessor "Yes Minister", was a favorite show of former UK PM Margaret Thatcher.

When someone asks what the Deep State is, just show them clips of this show.

The Deep State sounds a hell of a lot better than the politicians either the left or the right are putting forward these days.

You need to watch whole episodes the first time. You don't really get the full force from clips.
