PLOT: Fresh out of college, Barry the Bee (Jerry Seinfeld) finds the prospect of working with honey uninspiring. He flies outside the hive for the first time and talks to a human (Renée Zellweger), breaking a cardinal rule of his species. Barry learns that humans have been stealing and eating honey for centuries, and he realizes that his true calling is to obtain justice for his kind by suing humanity for theft.

Considering that they take only 3 day of their school lives (Grade, High, and College) it makes sense.
That lifespan is for Queen Bees. Bees only live up to 30 days.

This is still the most batshit insane movie ever made. The creativity was off the charts with this, and DreamWorks can barely make anything similar nowadays.
It's disturbing how I know this entire movies script by heart.

It’s just kind of funny that in an enclosed society that has no communication with the outside world, there are somehow still different languages.
Also, why is Honex owned by a parent corporation, Honeyco, if the bees all work for the same company. Like, what other parent companies are there in the hive?

Barry B. Benson, an idealistic honey bee who has the ability to talk to humans, has recently graduated from college and is about to enter the hive's Honex Industries honey-making workforce with his best friend, Adam Flayman. Barry is initially excited to join the workforce, but his ambitious, insubordinate attitude emerges upon discovering that his choice of job will never change once picked. Later, the two bees run into a group of Pollen Jocks, bees who collect pollen from flowers outside the hive, and they offer to take Barry with them if he is "bee enough". While on his first pollen-gathering expedition in New York City, Barry gets lost in the rain, and ends up on the balcony of a human florist named Vanessa Bloome. Upon noticing Barry, Vanessa's boyfriend Ken attempts to squash him, but Vanessa gently catches and releases Barry outside the window, saving his life.

Weirdly it’s not too bad of a movie, it’s cringy af if anything.
The animation is great with the fact that liquid in 3D that I’ve heard is absolute Hell to do and work with. Good bit of the movie is liquidy.

It had been almost 17 years since this movie came out i was about 5 years old when i first watched this and every time i did i never noticed that after all this time Barry and Adam are just representations of the two paths in adulthood, responsible and fair income, or carefree and income becomes a gamble

One of the best openings to a movie of all time
Heh this movie perpetuates most of the incorrect common ideas about bees.
Main two being the whole “bees shouldn’t be able to fly” thing. That’s not true. They just don’t use the same mechanism to fly that other flying creatures like birds do, we perfectly understand how they fly.
Second being the whole “a bee can only sting once then dies” thing. Not true. That only applies when bees sting specific animals like humans, our skin makes the stinger get stuck so when the bee tries to full off it rips it’s stinger off. But bees can sting other bee species, wasps and other insects over and over just fine.
Reminds me of the titanic movie, people watch it and take the stuff as fact and regurgitate it to make themselves look knowledgeable when they’re really just too lazy to verify anything they see or hear.
Sounds like you might have preferred some of the deleted scenes.
