    Gary Thorne is my favorite hockey announcer of all time. When I hear his voice, I think of the absolute pinnacle of 90s hockey

    I really miss this rivalry and this style of hockey in the NHL. That check by Konstantinov on Claude Lemieux is spectacular even 20 plus years later

      Agreed hard nose hockey is def a miss :( . Too many scrawny kids who are fast but cant do hits worth anything. No konstantinov or lamieux or big guys who just hit you hard and lay you flat on the ice these days.

    Got giddy watching this..the hate between these 2 powerhouses was palpable..both incredibly talented teams and the best hockey this 51yr old will prob ever see..drove to Colorado from Detroit suburb just to watch the Alumni game...people were great there!!

    The loss stung, but made for a hungrier Red Wings team. Vlady should have had the Norris that year

    Roy succeeds where Lundqvist utterly failed in 2009! Same player, same shot!

    The Red Wings from 1995 through 2008 were the one of the last team that could have won multiple cups in a row. Had things gone right Detroit could have challenged, tied or even broken Montreal's record of 5 consecutive Stanley Cups.

    • @screenheads3812
      @screenheads3812 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No fucking way man pshhhhh hahaha 😂, they were good but you still had devils, stars, and Colorado. That’s just a weird thing to say when your team only won back to back at most consecutively. You can say that with anything, “if things gone right uhhhh we would have won a cup maybe 10 in a row” -Toronto fans. Come one, things did go right for them, that’s why they won back to back and 4 cups in 11 years. Compared to Montreal 8 cups in 11 years.

      @@screenheads3812 From 95 to 08, the only years the Wings shouldn't have won were 95, 2000, and 2001. Every other year they should've won. They NEVER should've lost to the ducks let alone get swept by them in 03 lol, they shouldve beat the flames the next year, and idk how they lost to the oilers in 06. 07, i'd say the ducks and wings played evenly but the ducks had the little extra. Also, the Stars? They were good back then but the Wings always handled them

    • @screenheads3812
      @screenheads3812 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pianotalent6437 what does “should have won” mean? That’s weird? They weren’t the better team that year, because they lost. You can’t get more of a fair example than that

    Both teams were loaded with talent. Sakic, Forsberg, and Foote for the Avs and Yzerman, Fedorov, and Konstantinov for the Wings. Good times watching all the series between these two teams. So much intensity and brilliant skating! Unfortunately the Av s had Roy in this series and that was the difference.

    The best ever team to fail at winning a championship. The only otjer team that is in that conversation is the 16-0 team that lost in the Super Bowl.

    The wings should have destroyed them every year. If they played under today’s rules, these series wouldn’t have been close.
