  • Blue Spring State Park experienced a record-breaking morning with 932 manatees present in the spring today, as announced in a social media post by the park. This number surpasses their previous record set on New Year’s Day earlier this month by nearly 200 manatees.

    Blue Springs was our swimming hole when I was a teen. No boardwalk. We parked in a field and took a short walk through the trees. It had a great rope swing. Early seventies.

    Save the manatees group counted hundreds less than that. I think the park bumped up the numbers because it was going to be one of the last cold weekends. The wait to enter was an hour. They made a lot of money by declaring it a record. It wasn't the most that I ever saw there. I believe the number was closer to 650 like the other group counted.

    • @321gates
      @321gates 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I doubt very seriously that FL wildlife management would do that for a few extra entree fee bucks. It's a state park, not a privately owned theme park.

      Huh? Sarcasm I hope, because this is a natural occurence that takes place every winter. The water in our springs stays around 72 degrees year round making it much warmer than the Gulf or Atlantic this time of year. Glad I could help.
