Luke 18:1: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” This is where Jesus emphasizes the need for persistent prayer and not giving up. It’s a powerful encouragement to keep pressing on in prayer, no matter the situation. Another similar verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.” Both verses emphasize continual and unwavering prayer. I don’t think the above verses mean 10mins prayer. Be very careful guys

Public general prayer meetings isn’t the issue, but when once it is for bragging rights, then it is no more ‘secret’ prayers. Telling disciples that their lives are a joke if they haven’t before age 18/21 or whatever, prayed for 8-10hrs and more is not an encouragement to a sane mind.. it actually makes God look like a task master. The challenge comes with the understanding of prayer...if it's dedicating time - fasting , that is doing nothing but praying, which is what this is about, I'd say its subject to every individual. But if you are inclined to perceive prayer as communication with God, then your prayer life is 24hrs

They are both speaking truth, but to different audiences. Abel Damina isn't didn't say men should not pray, his argument is with the long hours. Prayer should be a relationship, not a task to meet up a time-line. Personally, i believe such long hours of prayers are subjective to person dealings with God, and not a standard.
I don't think God cares about then amount of time one prays for. I think it's the state of your heart that brings efficiency. You can pray for ten hours, yet your prayer was null and void in the eyes of God. You can also pray for 1 hour and your prayer can still be null and void in the eyes of God. My honest opinion is that 2 hours of consistent prayer and meditation a day are enough.

If you take the supernatural out of Christianity, then you're practicing dead religion- Dr. TL Osborn. Thank God for the head knowledge. I challenge you to rise to the experiential dimension! What is prayer: its talking to God and listening to God. Simply put its constant communication, constant communication means relationship. Pray without ceasing is having an unending relationship with God. You enter your car and you ask God to help you drive, you arrive your destination and you ask God to show you where to park. Yes, Arome brags in the LORD. If you do something admirable, there's nothing wrong blowing the trumpet about it. This will inspire others to desire doing the same especially when such things glorify the LORD. This is called provoking men unto good works. A stipulated hours may not be necessary but I tell you there is no hunger at all for God. At age 14 or so my hunger was so intense I escaped home to do total fasting and pray for some days. I know at such an age my parents would be scared to see me try that . I tbank them so much for letting me pursue God. Young boys do mindless scrolling on phone for hours even not bother about food! They watch season 1 to 6 movie in a row. Hunger for God makes prayer not to be burdensome , you lose joy even in legitimate things just because you are mourning your spiritual bareness. It shd not be about 10hrs it is about the fact that we are not pursuing Christ enough. Finally there are no spiritual giants in Church history even in the orthodox church who did not pray for long hours daily,as a lifestyle above the average church members: Martin Luther, Savanarola of Italy, John Knox, TL Orsborn, Joseph Ayo Babalola, Praying Hyde, John Welsey, William Carey etc They are early riser being in prayer for the first 3 to 5 hours of the day before they attended to men. Also prayer is not just about request. There are spiritual journey in prayer. Those who don’t have work to attend and jobs have to go to may have this time amen. But those with family, kids and jobs, how’s this possible. I believe 2hrs a day is great. Unless you’re fasting where you can go that long. Everything done is extremity is dangerous. Including praying 10hrs straight. This is where people misunderstood Apostle Arome, prayer shouldn't be done when you are in your private space or in the church alone, while you're at work you can be praying, while on the road you can be praying, and he has explained this severally in his teachings on how he was able to observe fast and lengthen prayer time while working in the oil sectors, and that's through praying in the spirit. That time we spent listening to music while working can be replaced with praying quietly in tongue without disturbing others, others have converted their going home from work into a prayer walk. Prayer is spirit led. By the time you pray 10hrs genuinely God would have opened the gap and door for you to do so. 10hrs straight? It depends what you understand by praying. People with the holy spirit can manage it because in those 10 hrs, they might be worship, meditation, speaking in tongues etc. Do you know if you are connected spiritually you can even pray while sleeping.(In your spirit). Prayer is multi-dimensional. Lastly even 2hrs or an hr if connected to Jesus is effective. It depends on the spirit.

@boasting in your long prayers is a work of the flesh! It doesn’t matter who is doing it, Jesus never did it. 2 Tim 3:2 - boasting is a work of the flesh! When Paul did boasted of things he accomplished even though by the grace of God, in verse 23 of that same 2 Corinthians 11, he said “I speak as a fool”. He knew it shouldn’t be done in the first place, but he just wanted to set the record straight. Much more, making your own personal consecration exercises as a standard for everyone else is just absurd

They are both speaking to an audience of different levels and spiritual maturity. So there is not even a base of comparing. At kindergarden they teach 1+1=2. But in post grad studies there are professors who can prove to you that 1+1 does not = 2😂

Luke 22 vs 44 Jesus didn’t pray till tears of blood fell down his face. Please try to check again. He was in agony, and the agony of the burden he was to carry made his heart keep going. It wasn’t a rule he placed himself under. Law tells you you need to do x for 10 hrs, 20 hrs before you show you are serious. Grace says focus on your relationship with the father, not to get him to move, because he has moved in Jesus, rather, you enjoy fellowship and communion, where his spirit fellowships with you. So whether 2hrs or 20, it’s your business, because he is the one that supplies the increase.

Contextually in 1Corinthians chapter 9, Paul was talking about his diligence, in self denial, with regards to his entitlements, and his flexibility in his associations, for the sake of sharing the Gospel, which he approaches like an athlete. What has that to do with praying for ten hours? Well, may it be onto us according to our faith and not to generally impose.
I believe Damina himself didn't do just few minutes of prayers to get to his stature of being a Christian leader. EXCEPT he is a wolf who has crept into the Fold in sheep disguise (I don't intend to insinuate that). Weather you choose to pray for yourself or others is irrelevant because what matters is the relationship with God. The challenge comes with the understanding of prayer...if it's dedicating time - fasting , that is doing nothing but praying, which is what this is about, I'd say its subject to every individual. But if you are inclined to perceive prayer as communication with God, then your prayer life is 24hrs

I don't think God cares about then amount of time one prays for. I think it's the state of your heart that brings efficiency. You can pray for ten hours, yet your prayer was null and void in the eyes of God. You can also pray for 1 hour and your prayer can still be null and void in the eyes of God. My honest opinion is that 2 hours of consistent prayer and meditation a day are enough.

Spending time with the Lord will never be too much since we will spend eternity with him.

Yes, Arome brags in the LORD. If you do something admirable, there's nothing wrong blowing the trumpet about it. This will inspire others to desire doing the same especially when such things glorify the LORD. This is called provoking men unto good works. A stipulated hours may not be necessary but I tell you there is no hunger at all for God. At age 14 or so my hunger was so intense I escaped home to do total fasting and pray for some days. I know at such an age my parents would be scared to see me try that . I tbank them so much for letting me pursue God. Young boys do mindless scrolling on phone for hours even not bother about food! They watch season 1 to 6 movie in a row. Hunger for God makes prayer not to be burdensome , you lose joy even in legitimate things just because you are mourning your spiritual bareness.
It shd not be about 10hrs it is about the fact that we are not pursuing Christ enough. Finally there are no spiritual giants in Church history even in the orthodox church who did not pray for long hours daily,as a lifestyle above the average church members: Martin Luther, Savanarola of Italy, John Knox, TL Orsborn, Joseph Ayo Babalola, Praying Hyde, John Welsey, William Carey etc They are early riser being in prayer for the first 3 to 5 hours of the day before they attended to men. Also prayer is not just about request. There are spiritual journey in prayer. Even in prayer there is a place of rest,your soul drawing strength from the Lord that what ever takes you out of that communion will be considered an ' enemy' to you . Those who don’t have work to attend and jobs have to go to may have this time amen. But those with family, kids and jobs, how’s this possible. I believe 2hrs a day is great. Unless you’re fasting where you can go that long. Everything done is extremity is dangerous. Including praying 10hrs straight. It even builds pride in you after praying that long and you can’t help but broadcast it to everyone you prayed 10hrs
This is where people misunderstood Apostle Arome, prayer shouldn't be done when you are in your private space or in the church alone, while you're at work you can be praying, while on the road you can be praying, and he has explained this severally in his teachings on how he was able to observe fast and lengthen prayer time while working in the oil sectors, and that's through praying in the spirit. That time we spent listening to music while working can be replaced with praying quietly in tongue without disturbing others, others have converted their going home from work into a prayer walk.

It wasn’t a rule he placed himself under. Law tells you you need to do x for 10 hrs, 20 hrs before you show you are serious. Grace says focus on your relationship with the father, not to get him to move, because he has moved in Jesus, rather, you enjoy fellowship and communion, where his spirit fellowships with you. So whether 2hrs or 20, it’s your business, because he is the one that supplies the increase.

I believe Damina himself didn't do just few minutes of prayers to get to his stature of being a Christian leader. I understand that there is a process where a believer builds himself in the place of prayer and the study of the word but we should never get caught up in our activities that we ignore the finished work of Christ. God does not hide himself, he wills that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of him. Revealing himself is his desire. Prayers and study helps us and our minds to build capacity to engage the supernatural but don't get carried away to think that you are the one making the relationship with God work.
For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. God as our father is active in his role. Your consecration doesn't make him available, it helps you know him better

Weather you choose to pray for yourself or others is irrelevant because what matters is the relationship with God.
