The Overlord possessing Garmaddon was one of the creepiest things I saw as a kid, and despite the animation for the Overlord transformation being a bit rough for the time, it's still a compelling and emotional moment to watch Lloyd lose his father. Garmmaddon is honestly a really tragic character. The man had his humanity stolen from him and is forced to fight his son to the death, and his former wife is forced to trick him and use his emotions against him in an understandable attempt to stop him. Not to mention, he believes there is no hope for him. Despite how much he doesn't want to fight his son or how much Lloyd thinks he can still be good, Garmaddon's corruption from the Devourer's venom took his free will and hope to be better away, leaving him open to falling for the Overlord's manipulation. I love the impending stakes for this season and how the build-up to the final battle truly feels grand and epic since this season was expected to be the end of the show. I swear I got chills when Lloyd said I am the Ultimate Spinjistu Master as a kid. This finale was straight-up hype for me as a kid, and even if the fight between Lloyd and the Overlord may have been short, it was still HYPE ASF! Not to mention seeing Garmaddon fully restored to his old self and fully free of the darkness and now given a second chance to be a father, a husband and a brother again is truly wholesome to see after all he lost and his development as Sensei Garmaddon in later seasons has some of the best character growth of the show.
