  • I recently purchased the biggest wood stove available from the big box stores. Is was an Ashley. The others available were US Stove Co Buck Blaze King and Hearth Stone. I thought I was getting a deal for the AW3200 3200sq/ft model from Ashley. I was wrong.

I bought the Ashley 3200 for my pole barn 2 years ago for $2,600 and love it. I was just about to buy the same unit for the house from Home Depot for $2,458 but thought I'd eat my breakfast first and watch some videos first. Thank God I found your video, I bought the same unit from Tractor Supply for $1,199 and you are right, it is the same exact thing except the box says US Stove verses Ashley. THANK YOU!!!

The entire wood stove industry is mostly a scam. Working on an installation at my home currently. Called some professionals for quotes, highest was over $14,000. Lowest, with me already having the stove just 12’ of chimney & 6’ of connector pipe straight out & up through the ceiling was almost $5,000.
I’ve got the skills to do it myself, just limited time, but those prices drove me to do it all myself. I’ll have about $1,900 total including the stove (Englander 32-NC which is rated at 2400 sq ft bought off eBay new not in box for $900) & the hearth.

Yep-seems like Every contractor around our area, but especially those referred to us by the big box stores, insisted I buy parts from them, & they only do “remove/replace” simple stuff. 😖
We got a rocket stove. Had to install a chimney liner. I bot all the parts, but age/infirmity blocked us finishing it. Tried to get to just pull the liner up the chimney-we built the jig with winch to fit top of chimney to do it, too.
One guy said it in a nutshell:
“If I do that, I’d have to charge you $2000, cuz you did not buy the parts from me!”…or…the all the ones who said, ”our insurance won’t let us use your parts, cuz we cannot guarantee parts we did not vet & buy to sell you!”
Well, dang it, guys! All ya had to do, was climb the 15’ ladder, put our jig & winch up there, feed the line down to hook & pull up the blessed liner I’d readied for it!!
A neighbor took pity on us, & did just that, then, stuffed insulation in around the top, installed the topper & screened cap. Free.
I finished assembling the inside parts, tiled a new hearth, wrangled the rocket stove onto it, & hooked it up. I’m not worried at all about guarantees-that’s on the makers of the liner & parts. Not worried about my install skills-I tend to make stuff to last decades. But neither of us were s’posed to climb the ladder!
      Turned out terrific!
So many other projects, just lookin’ for real, skilled handy-persons, who know how to do stuff…like creative problem solving to get things done nice & durable, & looking decent. Workers who can at least follow my instructions, if they dunno how.
So many contractors, stuck on stupid, believe that if they make things durable, or use the owner’s materials, it’ll put them out of a job!
Nope…cuz if they will do the jobs at reasonable rates, do it durable & nice, they’d get hired to do more projects! Think of how many need similar!?

The best made wood stoves are AMERICAN and Canadian stoves. I purchased the Englander 32NC 3 years ago ($1,200.00 that includes shipping.) they sell for about 1,500.00 now. Made in the USA Virginia to be exact. This particular stove has a reburn system and no catalyst. Really pleased with my purchase.

@ you know it. Thanks for the response. Get me going first thing in the morning. I support a lot of world trade as a farmer. Cheap is the last thing you want if you’re spending a large part of your time keeping the fire breathing dragon in the box. That fire is just waiting to take your life your families life and everything you own. Best to start with a little extra effort and buy from a social construct that values your safety. Not the cheating society created by communism in the oldest country in the world. I mean this is a man channel. There is a code amongst men. Amongst wood burning communities all over US and Canada. I appreciate this guys warning. I have been burning wood since 1977. I have installed solid fuel heaters for family friends and myself for years. I built a few of my own stoves and I just think saving a buck by buying Chinese in this particular market is philosophically wrong. Even if they have a quality stove here I would not trust quality control. Hopefully his next video is torching that chineezium to scrap and installing a heater made in one of the States.

That b.s. I purchased a country hearth 2000 back in 2016. Have had absolutely nothing wrong so far, even the blower motor still works.
Bought it from united states stove company.
No where on any paperwork says we're the stove was manufactured in.

I use an old WJ Loth wood burning stove that I restored, and it easily heats 1800 sq ft. of my house on the coldest of months. My grandmother had two of these old stoves in her house back in the 70's when I was a kid so when I saw the one I have up for sale on Facebook I bought it. The stove is mostly cast iron, but it has steel metal sides which needed replacing. That was no easy task, but I was able to form some new heavy gauge sheet metal I purchased from Metal Works to fit the cast iron frame, and it has worked fantastic. It will heat up the house twice as fast as my other solid cast iron stove that I was using and being that it was made in Virginia, and it is 100 years old it just looks cool. For people wanting to heat with wood go with an old American made stove. Might take some work but it will be worth it in the long run.

    Hey,
I saw this same exact woodstove at local Rona (Canada) going for $1799.00 Cad. Not sure if you got to actually fire up and test this stove yet but I'd love to hear your thoughts aside from the price scam that you had to deal with.
It seems too good to be true quality wise. Better parts, higher costs = better quality and I'm not sure how this stove defies this simple logic.
Similar capacity wood burning stoves of this size start at at least double the price. Not really sure what I'd be getting as far as quality and longevity with this stove as the price in itself suggests otherwise.
Not sure if me buying it means I have saved myself $1800 going with a different brand or I have flushed $1800 down the drain as this is total junk.
Looking forward to your feedback and thanks again!

Im running an England wood stove I bought used for 400 dollars. ( probably from the 60's or 70's ) It has glass insert double doors, dampner, and a blower ( which quadruples your heat output). Its an old one, installed it myself. They dont make them like they did back in the day when this one was made its built like a tank, new stoves seem to be built of lighter gauge steel now. You can have the best wood stove made and freeze if you dont have seasoned wood to put in it, or dont know how to run a wood stove correctly. I would advise any woodstove owner (experienced or newbie) to get a flue temperature gauge. If your getting a stove for power outages dont get a fireplace insert, you cant cook or heat water on those in an extended power outage. They (inserts) are useless without a blower.

I know this is an old video, but it's not really a scam. It's the same as the American car/truck market. U.S. Stoves sell their models under the brand names that they've bought up over the years. There's like 6 brand names.
I now have a wood-burning furnace made by U.S. Stoves. About 5 years or so back, I needed to replace my antique cast iron firebox parlor stove. It happened that in that year, the epa changed their emissions standards. One of the classes of stoves affected were some of these furnaces.
Doing my research, I came across an Ashley. But, while I was researching to learn and compare, the Ashley sold out. In frustration, I called Ashley and learned about U.S. Stoves. I asked about the Ashley model, and they said they were out. I don't remember how it came about, but in hoping to get the best made stove I could find in the price range, my conversation with the sales team turned to wood/coal models. Heavier construction. But, they said they were out of the red Ashleys. I said... "red? Why make a distinction." Because all they had were few green Claytons. And... they were cheaper!
So, I found out that not only can you do well shopping around, but calling the company gives you the opportunity to find out if they have models on serious discounts.
Btw... works great. Heats the entire house, not just a few adjacent rooms, and sits in the basement where visitors don't have to look at the apparently undesirable color. Btw... it's a lovely shade lol.

Big difference between a blzeking and an ashley hearth. Mostly the fact an equal size blazeking will burn 3x as long and all blazekings are catalytic. Ashley is cheap. Itl do but its cheap and youll put significantly more sweat equity in in the long run. I can heat 1700sq ft A frame with 2 cords of wood all winter in northern WI with my blazeking chinook 30 and only fill it morning and night. I had a secondary burn stove, much nicer than an ashley and went through 4x the amount of wood. Its incredible the difference. Acts as my main source of heat but have electric backup if I need it.

    • @Man-Time
      @Man-Time  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

It also looks like there is a big difference in price. I understand the initial investment at 4x that of the US stove will eventually pay off. Some people can’t justify that. If the wood is free it only pays off in the labor to produce it.

@@Man-Time A lot of complaints I hear on Blaze King is a lot of people like the ambiance of watching the fire dance in the stove. Blaze kings are fantastic for long burn times with very little flames, so a lot of folks call where they by the Blaze King complaining there is no fire to watch, well I guess they didn't do their homework if they wanted the ambiance of a non catalyst Blaze King VS other styles of stoves.
