- I had the pleasure of attending the British GP and got to go behind the scenes with the Ducati MotoE team. I also managed an interview the led technical Director Roberto Cane. I found this quite fascinating and the development being carried out on this bike blew my mind!
But are they ready for a Ducati electric road bike?

Fantastic interview fella. I'm not a E-Bike fan, but this had me riveted. He responded so well to a calm, polite, knowledgable interviewer and what a great guy. Really enjoyed that.
Glad you enjoyed it Gareth 👍
What a great guy Roberto is.! Who couldn’t be enthused by his personality. I’m by no means a E-Bike fan, but I’ll be following Ducatis progress with this project.
Well done Chopsy for the great interview 🙌
Yes absolutely! Brilliant isn't he 👍
The sound from the bikes taking off super futuristic! Exciting stuff 🤙
Although I'm not really a fan of electric bikes, I was very impressed with how Ducati has embraced this technology and produced a great looking development machine. What a truly energetic, passionate, knowledgeable and engaging guy you spoke with. With him at the helm, success for Ducati in e-racing and in road bike development, is only a matter of time. Great video as always.
Great interview, Chops. I'm not a great fan of e-racing or e-bikes for that matter, but that was a really interesting insight into the current state of play.
Yes exactly what I thought, and really interesting that ducati agree with the current tech for road machines
Hi Chopsie, that was a really interesting insight into the race development at Ducati, you must have felt really honoured for the invite. For me though at 66 years of age, and limited years left in the saddle I will stick to the internal combustion engined machines. I also think electrification will be short term, and Hydrogen will supersede eventually. You really did a good job as a knowledgeable interviewer, you were most professional. Thank you.
Thank you 😊 👍
Bloody Awesome vid Chops! Love seeing race bikes behind the bodywork… Well done, great interview and nicely handled. More please.
Thanks buddy 👍
Smart, so many professional riders testing the bike in races and providing feedback
14:30 I got chills 😮⚡❤
Content wise your nailing it ATM, keep up the good work chops....
Much appreciated! 😁👍
Great video not sure I could put up with no engine sound.
wow, I love Ducati’s type of involvement “all in”..
Haven’t quite seen that level of dedication in other manufacturers lately..
They’re all dedicated to selling, but not so much for developing, testing and also sharing some of it with the public..
Absolutely agree 👍
Chopsy what a great interview! Fascinating stuff.
Absolutely fascinating, thank you, Ducati for inviting Chopsie. Now back to your Super Beastie ride .❤
No sound makes it boring AF to watch for me! The interview was on point! Thanks Chops
Sorry to interrupt you in the pit lane buddy was fabulous to meet you after loving the content keep it coming 😃
Haha no worries buddy 😁👍
I'm really excited to see when Ducati do finally bring out an electric bike.
Very informative, well made video Chopsie!
Superb video. Best insight into MotoE that I've seen 👍
What a cracking interview Chops and Roberto is a credit to Ducati, you can definitely see how they are doing so well with people like him on board.
Yes completely agree, actually my day with the Ducati team really changed my view of the brand for the better! Spent time with alot of the Italian team and the passion is evident. Another thing is everyone I spoke to said things are so much better since Audi took over
@@LambChopRides nice one mate very interesting stuff, I’m on your ZX-10 upload now with breakfast 👌🏼😂
Well done, asking the right questions. Nice guy to.
Excellent interview. Really enjoyed it!
Much appreciated!
Very interesting to get a bit more technical insights into how they have been thinking in the development of this. You continue to bring the goods, John! ⭐
Thanks buddy 👍
Very cool , I'm not totally sold on the electric bike thing but i think there's a market for it soon . Great interview chops.
Quality content as always, thanks for sharing this with us! 👏👍😀🏍
No problem 👍😁
What a fantastic, insightful interview!
Fantastic video and interview 👌. The Ducati MotoE guy was very open and engaging. Spot on .
Glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
Great video very informative. The interview shed some interesting light on the future of E-bikes at Ducati, basically not yet . Another Chops production winner . Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Alan 👍
Great interview. Nice hat by the way!
Superb video Chops. The future - or depending on sustainable fuel tech coming soon to GPs and then perhaps punters - part of the future. 🙂👍
Very interested to see how this develops and technology matures toward road-ready versions
It will have to be quicker than Energica's Ego, that came from their time in Moto-E. The Ego only manages 2.6s to 60, so Ducatti have to get a road version that is quicker than that
Doesn't have to be quicker, it needs to be lighter and capable of 200 miles range plus! The MotoE machined Ducati have produced are way above the Energica already! Plus alot more money I would also guess
Great video chops! ⚡👍
I was there on that weekend. The E class impressed me the most. The speed, acceleration and competitiveness of the class was incredible! You cannot appreciate how quick these guys are unless you see it first hand
Yes incredible weren't they 👍
@@LambChopRides unreal
Very interesting chops, loved that👍
The guy with the snorkel on the TV in the background 😄😄😄
Great video and inside look at moto-e.
Excellent and very informative interview
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome little scoop there Chopsy 🙂
Thanks Pete 👍
Ooh and first comment! Yay!!!
No idea why that's a "thing"
Wow, that was a very interesting vlog, you’ve got to admire the tech involved used in the development of EV race bikes. Mind you, at 15:06, it seems that they don’t hold together very well when dumped in the kitty litter. Begs the question “is using the battery as part of the structure a good idea”?
That was excellent a really informative insight to what is getting developed I'd love to see how the TE-1 is getting along
That the Triumph? If so it's shelved as Triumph don't think the tech is ready for road bikes.
@@LambChopRides Aye John the TE-1 is the triumph was just wondering if they were able or ready to race alongside those Ducati's now that would be brilliant to watch
The speed is incredible..
Great video and very interesting to see Ducati enter the electric bike racing arena, however, Ducati motorcycles for me at least, should always be combustion engines only. The sound of the Ducati Panagale V4 series is just too sexy
That’s definitely a very expensive project , thanks for the behind the track information Chops now if I could understand half of the technology he was saying
Looking forward to it, maybe you can get a review done of the Damon Hypersport
Yeah would like to try one for sure!
Fantastic really enjoyed that. You asked all the questions that I wanted to know the answers to. Perhaps a new Job for you working for BT Sports (TNT Sports). Loved the VIP guest lanyard
Thanks Brian 👍😁
I’m a big fan of EV cars I’ve had one for 3 years and love it, it’s saved me a bomb in cash. But I just don’t like them for bikes. A big is more involved and the sound is so important as part of the experience. I’ll keep my 2 petrol bikes until I have no option any more but as my age I think they’ll see my lifetime out
Saved you a ton of cash.... you mean you're paying your fuel cost in an overinflated purchase price and depreciates like a stone 😅
@@mastergraphic9998 No I have solar panels and home batteries so have never paid anything to charge it in nearly 3 years. It cost me £19k brand new so was cheaper than my VW golf. The advantages of early take up, as for depreciating they are no worse than any other car they are now just levelling up. I have no intention of selling it. But I suppose you’ll now say the battery won’t last blah, blah wake up and smell the coffee the majority of EV older cars are still going strong after 12 + years. But then again I suppose it will set on fire won’t it. Stop believing all the negative clap trap and do some independent research for yourself rather than clicking on the clickbait on here or the newspapers then get all their facts wrong but don’t correct the stories. Rant over more important things to do 🤷
@andrewdyson4255 when you factor in the cost of buying solar and batteries your fuel is not free. Love the idea of ev but just not financial viable when you don't kid yourself and factor In all the true costs... 😉
@@andrewdyson4255 19k brand new... must be an MG or similar...
Leccy bikes are good for offroad, onroad, not for me. But I love my Surron, you should try one you two.
Very impressive but you can't beat the note of a petrol engine exiting via a tasty exhaust
not a fan of E bikes but its interesting to see the development. great interview Chops
The bikes sound like something out of Tron or Star Wars!
His name is Roberto "Ernie " Cane ........They call him Ernie and he rides the fastest milkcart in the West! 😂
Sorry Chops i couldn't resist 😂
Interesting insight.....Nicely done buddy.👍😊
E vehicle fires are what concern me, a few of these in a bad crash and the amount of water it takes to put electric vehicle fires out is insane.
An interesting video.
Did you manage to get any feedback on why the bike at 15:06 split apart (the front wheel and forks completely separated from the remainder of the bike) as the bike tumbled laterally in the gravel? This is not something I've seen in similar circumstances on ICE bikes on track.
That's more poluting than my 1970's two stroke. That's before it's even been ridden.
It’s interesting how they de-charge the battery before transporting them.
I cannot wait for this sort of thing to be offered by makes which I can afford. Kawi has some little turd of an e-ninja coming, supposedly. I'll probably have a look at that. I didn't get it until I personally rode an Energica Ego+RS. I'm here now, I get it.
Do they have any different fire fighting equipment for the batteries on track?
They do when charging, firefighter has to oversee the charging
800 volts?
I would not have guessed that.
I guess all major manufacturers really have no choice now, but to look for ways to help save the planet. I'm also pretty sure there will be heavy Govt regulation brought to bear if they don't. It was interesting to see that Ducati are actively working on something, that will keep them open as a buyers choice in years to come. Roberto done really well, quite candid even with what he was allowed to reveal, and there's no doubting his enthusiasm and drive for the project. My takeaway though, wasn't the battery, the bike, or Roberto's lingo, it was that front end parting company with the rest of the bike, when that chap went for a slide. As much as I love a bit of Carbon Fiber, I want a real tubed frame and steering head I can trust not to turn into yet another object trying to kill me on the road, if I go for a slide of my own. I appreciate that he was not exactly going slow, and that the bike did flip end to end, but the way it just snapped off would have me avoiding kerbs! All that said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that mama Kwak's project bears fruit and if not, I'll be drilling for my own oil 🤣🤣
Electric scouter getting A to B it’s fine , but hands off of the rest of the Bikes they are passion not only means to get A to B.
I commute 120 miles roundtrip each day to work (85% motorway and 15% through the city). I'd be very happy to have an electric bike that is cheaper to fuel and with less servicing. I have another bike to ride for fun at the weekend. My reticence would be the lack of exhaust noise in heavy/slow traffic and for pedestrians.
Maybe don’t buy one? They are not for me either - but I’m not forced to buy electric ⚡️
@@RyEvnsnot yet 😉
Well said
@@johnlaw5762 there will be a lot of people (myself included) pushing back against being forced 😉
Why does is have chain drive with all the friction/energy losses they can have? I would of thought a motor as part of a single sided swing arm for direct drive/regen would of been the order of the day. They may sound like a Tron Lightcycle but they look nothing like one.
Cool and froody! 👍🤪🇨🇦
Hi Tech for sure.
What a cool guy. You not bad yourself Chopper😅. Too fancy and expensive for me but good luck to them. There should be a cheaper way being developed to go electric racing.
interesting.
Yeah and u can keep it, I want to hear an engine
I'll stick to my L twins thanks chops
Love an Italian accent me, electric bikes not so much - though got to admire the tech!
Yes completely agree Andy 👍
Agreed. Miss that V4 sound for sure!
Me second!!
Chops ...63 you sure Fella 😢
I had more faith in you 😂
Interesting vid Chops but I'm still not buying an electric bike. ; )
Fortunately, I am old enough to never have to drive an electric vehicle....except for my golf cart that is.... This only exists because no politician in the history of mankind, has ever seen the inside of a science class....
Probably quite harm full sitting on a bomb😮
Hoover racing. 🤔
My Henry would clean up! Literally 😅
I’m surprised Dyson haven’t entered.
Great insight into the "future" of racing, really interesting! 👌👌
The main thing I don't like about electric bikes is no gearbox and no clutch. Just don't like the idea of riding an automatic, take half the fun out of it.
Mobility, lol.
No way am I on an e bike sorry chops. As Al Fagan said they are a good idea for trials bikes and tranport to the pub when we can't walk that far
Ducati Milk Float ... no thanks 😢
No
I lasted 40 seconds 😅, I'll wait for normal service to resume chops....(I remember your rant about EVs 😅😅)
Yes exactly, don't worry that was addressed in the vid. Ducati also don't think the tech is ready
But haven't electric vehicles been fact checked and found to be extremely bad for the environment and totally unworkable using a National Grid powered by renewables.
Yes work still required imo
Funalldaylong, You’re 100% correct. Why can’t the government see this ?
🤢🤮🤮🤮 nope. I will never jump on that bandwagon.
Electric vehicle is synonymous with stupidity! I was that stupid too but 8 years of engineering research and building of electric vehicles opened my eyes. 👎🤮
Abomination.
Sweet Jesus no!!!!!
