  • Setting up audio for a 2 pc stream setup is tough, so this guide will show you exactly how I've organised everything to make the most of the Wave XLR and Wave DX XLR Microphone from Elgato (products provided by Elgato)

    Nice video but the issue I have with the way this is setup is your wave link in on the game pc.... meaning you'll have to alt tab to adjust volumes if needed which kinda defeats the purpose of a dual pc. Couldn't you just have the wave link on the stream then check listen to this device on the waves 3rd output MicrophoneFX and select the line out then put it into the Line in on the game pc would that work? I'm not sure I want to ditch my goxlr for the wave xlr if this is the only way to achieve voice chat in game.

      I just use a stream deck + to control all the audio now so I don't need to alt tab out ever to change anything.
      I have all the different audio channels recorded separately on my PC so I need them there, for the stream I don't need them separate anymore so the line in works fine

    Hey!!!!! Very informative video. Well put together. Will this work with a mac/pc setup? Just buy proper cables?

      Thank you! I haven't tried using macs for any of this so wouldn't want to guess, sorry!

    I would like to see the Wave XLR connect to the streaming pc, so everything except game is running on streaming pc.

      My issue with that is the local recordings wouldn't have discord/the mic on them

    what if i wanted it to be on my stream pc to eliminate thing things on my game pc, kinda the point of having two right?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely can do it that way. I like being able to use my mic and headphones with my gaming pc without having the streaming pc turned on, and having all the different channels separately on my gaming pc for the local recording, so I can make videos where I cut out discord chat etc but still have game sound. That's a bit trickier if you have all the audio set up on your stream pc in my experience, but both work!

    Any ideas on how I could use this configuration but still be able to have a face cam on my recordings with one camera?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You could have the camera attached to the pc that you're recording on then use NDI output from that version of OBS to send the stream to your streaming pc. It's a plugin that lets you send a stream over a network.
      Or you could just plug the camera into your stream pc and record it there?

    I never hear myself; I don't like to listen to myself; I use and want to continue to use my wireless headphones. Which PC should I connect them to?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Personally I'd always have them connected to your gaming pc just so you minimise any delays, but it does mean you need to have discord on your gaming pc too

    So are you recording on your main pc, hence having obs open with all the audio inputs on different mix lines and then it being outputed to your streaming pc with the line out stream mix? Also why not use the listen to stream mix over your hdmi going to the stram pc to eliminate an aux or does that cause more interference?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I don't use the audio over hdmi because I found I was getting some delay problems that were a pain to sort out, where my webcam and mic audio would be out of sync. I know there are ways around that though and it's definitely viable. I just quite like having things as direct as I can manage

    is it Line out on the back of the stream pc and line in to game pc or other way around?

    • @GeekyPastimes

      Other way round to get audio from gaming pc to stream pc

  • @WickedSarah

    Currently I have my mic/headphones/wave xlr through my streaming pc. I just want to be able to use the same mic on the gaming pc. Can I just connect the aux cable between the two or is it more complicated than that?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't see why that wouldn't work, I just don't think it would get any processing you're doing on the mic, it'd be like having your monitor feed to it

    Geeky! Question about if this works with only a 3.5 mm adapter per PC/Laptop set up without the line in/line out option?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  ปีที่แล้ว

      What would the adapter be? I'm not sure what you mean or how you would do it without sending the audio via line out/line in. Maybe you could do it sending the audio over the hdmi but I'm always worried it would create delay

    Are you using a Game Capture OR using a NDI/Teleport while sending your game play from Game PC to Stream PC? (thats what I use). Will this all still work in my case?

    Do you ever feel like you have any delay with your voice and camera being on different PCs? Like even a SLIGHT delay?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at the moment with this setup. I have in the past and used the OBS async filter to balance it out (with a lot of trial and error) but right now it seems fine.

      @@GeekyPastimes I was just wondering I've had slight delay with my Facecam to Mic using this method. I think it's fixed with like 150ms of Video Delay but I'm always thinking... Is it still off? Lol

    Good Evening, i plugrd the wave xlr into the streaming pc and i cant hear sounds from my gaming pc
    why that?

    • @GeekyPastimes
      @GeekyPastimes  ปีที่แล้ว

      How would the sound get to your streaming pc from your gaming pc? In this I suggest plugging the wave XLR into your gaming pc then running an aux cable to your streaming pc like in from the wave xlr

      Yeah on the wave XLR you can just right click on your mic channel at the top, then turn the monitor sound all the way to zero
