Thnx for another good excersice! Whims Of Chalmers !! Do tell about your Axe Jack ? Wanted to ask Lauren if Simandl'Book II was the same fingering she's teaching ? Because there are some nice little 'Etudes' song snippets in Book II That we likee here at Team Zorg World HQ,Seattle! Thnx Maestro! As u were
Glad you like it! We don't have a version of that clip as it's a short excerpt from the piece Decades End by Craig Butterfield which is part of our course Intermediate to Advanced Double Bass by Jason Heath. courses.discoverdoublebass.com/p/intermediate-advanced-classical-bass
HI Geoff. You are the absolute go to site for the Double Bass. I have used and benefited from many of your tutorials , thank you. PLEASE ADVISE , I play the bass guitar but have moved onto the Double Bass and have become lost in the world of Arco ( sounds like I am strangling a cow.) I have a music theory question that I just cant seem to work out , cant tell you how many hours I've spent trying to crack this code. There are NO double bass teachers in my town or even in a town nearby so I have no one I can bug my side of the map. If you don't mind I have a question I'd like to ask you but only if that's OK with you. They say there is no such thing as a dumb question , hope so . Cheers. Gavin Alexander
Hi Gavin, I'm really pleased you've enjoyed the lessons. I'm afraid I'm working flat out on the website and producing new videos so can't answer questions, but I can point you in the direction of a great resource that might be better placed to help. The talkbass.com double bass forums have a lot of very knowledgeable bassists and it's a very friendly forum. Best of luck with all your practice, cheers Geoff
@@DiscoverDoubleBass Just joined up , thank you Geoff , I can honestly say you that you are an honest , helpful and fantastic bassist , one of the few who has taken the time out of their busy lives to help me with my stupid questions...thank you.
@@DiscoverDoubleBass Have joined the forum and have already received numerous and helpful (actually some quite groundbreaking) answers to my dumb question , thank you.
Put 'c' on D string, then 'e' on D string with thumb, 'g' on D string with 3rd finger, 'b' on G string 2nd finger, 'c' on G str 3rd finger. Multiple notes, one shift from 'c'!!!
Good suggestions! Maybe play a drone note for the root of the scale to keep a reference?
Superb suggestion!
What's a drone note?? I play electric bass, but found this very interesting and useful thanks.
@@stevewoodward7850 Just a continuous pitch (single note) you can use to reference your tuning.
@@DiscoverDoubleBass Ahh, thanks.
Geoff is back with the bass in front of the camera-yes!!!
Thanks Jason! I've been hiding, but it's good to be back :-)
Always a pleasure to go back to the fundamentals !
Thank you, Geoff, for addressing this very practical issue. I can't tell you how long I was stuck in first position...
Wow! This is brilliant. Thank you, sir.
You're very welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Great exercise! Definitely makes me approach it in a new way :) Also nice for going in and out of thumbposition
A really helpful excercise... thank you

I'll try the scale exercise, for sure. Thanks!
Excellent
very neat!!!
Thanks!
one more good idea for working in a more effective way for discovering my d bass and thank you
Great stuff! Thx 🙏
Very effective, merci !
Hello Geoff, thanks so much for this marvelous excercise, do you have by any chance a PDF of it?
Just use ear, my friend.
Hi Oscar, I'm afraid I don't have one for this lesson.
Something I've been doing for awhile on my bass
do you use Simandl fingerings for the scales? That's what I learned on so that would be nice.
They use the Simandl 1,2,4 below thumb position.
@@DiscoverDoubleBass ok good to know thanks!
Do you have the sheet music for the intro song it’s really fire?
