- As we go racing with a selection on BMWs on Forza Horizon 5, an old vs new battle is formed as my M1 takes on a might fast i8.

Imo Neo was being rather cheeky with their passing, I can understand some of the races where they had the faster car for the track and wanted to get past (specifically the second to last race) but still those were some agressive overtakes...

I absolutely loved my I8 of ludicrous straight line speed. I was not expecting it to be anywhere as quick as it was overall, some brilliant racing and great fun (even if I was shoved around a fair bit)
The i8 is a surprisingly quick straight line car, despite it's relatively low power. Not sure what black magic went into it

Love the M1, such a classic timeless design. Xcentric really got the best build and car for this session. That i8 is fast!
My 2002 was very much a tarmac only car.

I learned to drive a stick on a '73 2002, years ago. Very fun little car to drive.
We tested later on and that i8 was atom v8 swapped and had a top speed of like 230mph, also was much quicker through corners and straights
Purely judging from visual performance, I say this car is being hampered by suspension and differential issues with the AWD, with the secondary issue being lack of front end bite. Without softer rebound, cornering is bound to be quite harsh as you try to put down power, thus the car will wash out wide and you have to drive softer to compensate.
Not sure how much time or opportunity you guys get to setup before each race or if you're stuck with 'all rounder' settings, but even a cursory 'jack of all' tuning makes a world of difference.

I don't know what I did to that car. While it was pretty good in the off road races, on tarmac it was shockingly bad.
Hi, also, I’m reminding you Alex that we REALLY want driven till destruction back. Another idea is to host beam races on either the endurodrone or the proving grounds, could be really fun.
Oh, by the way, congrats on getting better at tuning. You seem to have improved in building cars which makes races more interesting when we see you running in the front with the fastest cars.
I have to agree, driven till destruction bought some very welcome variety to the channel . I just kept waiting and waiting , cause when the last series were over , he told us that some day the DTD will be back.
I think DtD has been discussed in Discord, and two problems were mentioned if I remember correctly:
1) Oil pan damage, which is the reason for most cars stopping. I don't play Beam, so don't know if it can now be disabled
2) No interesting track, from Alex's pov. There were couple that show promise, I think, but it's been a while and no DtD, so guess they didn't work. Both were WiP iirc

@@coffeeaddict8712 I have to agree, for the oil pan , isn't there any way to reinforce it? or reduce damage specifically to the oil pan by 50% or something? And i completely agree for the track,there hasn't been any good tracks since the endurodrome
This video just reminded me of something. Pro tip for anyone having trouble with tarmac handling builds: For whatever class you're tuning for, if you can fit sport tires on but not semi-slicks, force rally tires into the build. There's barely a PI difference between the two (sometimes it even _drops_ PI, like in the case of the Noble M600) and rally tires give you grip levels between sport and semi-slicks with a bias toward the semi-slick side. Makes the car tend to understeer a bit, but it can be tuned out. Good example for a RWD A-class car is the Cobra 427. My GOD that thing is nice to drive on big rally tires.
Also, the 4.0L V8 is from the 2008 M3.

Crazy idea - you guys should do some of the old knockout and tournament style games the old NFS had. They were the best. Sure the graphics are nothing compared to newer games but the arcadey fun is incomparable
I think the main issue with the M1 can slightly be covered for if you dialed the brake bias a bit more to the rear... Kinda taking a stab at it, but on Plaza, you were mostly having turn in issues under braking, but once you transitioned off them and onto power, it tends to tuck in a bit better. Real biasing the brakes 10-15% would make it a bit more sketchy with turn in under braking, but if you can tune it to a good comfortable level, it could leave you a bit more front grip to steer with.
When I did vtsc I tried a Supra on rally tires and RWD. It was terrible off-road and in the city circuits, but it was a front runner car at the festival circuit because it had good grip compared to the off-road tyred cars, and it was faster in a straight line because it didn’t need aero and it had more power from being RWD. Rally tyre builds will never get you legitimate pace on specialist tires unless it’s a meta car, but they can make you pretty good overall
During the pandemic when we here in Kuwait were house-bound, I began watching your H4 videos, I was hooked. Picked up the game and then on to H5. Would love to race with you guys, however, feel I need to hone my controller skills a bit more, specifically your ability to micro-steer in corners...but soon inshallah. Thanks for keeping us entertained AND educating us...lol

I will keep saying it 'til im blue in the face Alex, you need to learn to ditch the understeer propensity. Forza lends itself to good turn in, and good acceleration out of corners, helps you duck underneath easier on entry and exit. If you did, you would be unstoppable since you're already a very good driver. The trick to mastering oversteer is simply weight transfer and smoothness on the throttle which I know you CAN do.
Based on the 8,500 RPM redline the engine is the S65 out of the E9X M3.
Probably the E92 since Forza generally takes the highest spec cars/engines

possible idea for a theme: automatic cars. do the whole race in 1st gear. could make for some interesting builds.

My bimmer just wasn't upto snuff, it understeered like a boat and just wasn't enough power

The 4L V8 I believe is from the M92 M3 I believe…
E34 (540i)/E32/38 V8 i thought maybe? (going by lack of standard hp in game)...M92 V8 a way better engine.

I am curious whether Alex tries to tune the cars to reduce some of the understeer problems. Changing tyre pressure, camber and suspension values can make a world of difference to the overall handling.(if done correctly)
I’m going to guess if he does then it’s relatively minimal just because of the way these sessions are setup. They announce the list on discord and then you’ve got about an hour or so to build two cars with different restrictions before the race starts. There’s definitely some time to tune if you figure out a car your happy with right off the bat, but if you’re building a few to quickly test there isn’t a whole lot of time to spend fine tuning everything.
he does not, he generally builds the car and leaves it at that, sometime though he will fool around with it, but not normally

@@JoriDiculous Neotropolis I can see it with, but didn't see anything from doc, even FR comments on "the i8 not knowing hoow to pass" in the fourth race.
Neotropolis for sure. I also felt the same way about Doc, but in retrospect he controlled his car better and didn’t dive bomb people into oblivion. Doc was more really aggressive with how far to push the “touring car” rules and should probably dial it back.

can you do an experiment can you do a video or a live stream on making the best like the best handling car but no speed and the fastest car with literally no turn in to figure out what's faster once and for all in a time trial situation
if a car can't turn, it won't be able to get around any sort of circuit

It’s not like if he was torpedoing others or if he would do it all of the time. Apparently, Neotropolis95 and Doc BANG1935 were driving real dirty (can’t say because I wasn’t racing with them and I am just half way through the video)
