    Don’t be fooled.
    Rob Penny was a very good player, big, fit as hell, fast and tough. A top club and Canterbury player.
    I remember him riding his push bike around Chch while drain laying for KTs which didn’t hurt. Loved hearing his story. Nice one.

    Great memories Rob, I remember those years well, the likes of big Dale Atkins, Pete McClaren, Worzel Earl, etc. I went off to Otago, Dale was the most explosive player i ever faced. Good luck for this season, I sense a good year. I also worked at the works, Fairton in Ashburton..

    Great interview. I enjoy these deep dives into controversial topics to try and clear the air. Maybe try Chris Cairns?

    Useless SR coach. Came in with a past SR win rate of 23%, the Crusaders won 4/14, so he increased his win rate to about 26%. One year left on his contract, so hopefully, our recruiters are out there now, shoulder tapping the likes of Rangi to take over from Loser Penney.

      What if he wins the comp this year does that change?

    • @Sunflower-dt6ev
      @Sunflower-dt6ev 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @whataladpodcast We won't win under Penney. The data is the data. Nice guy, poor SR coach. Some coaches are just serial losers at a certain level. They can coach a superstar into mediocrity. He's that guy. The one slim hope we may have is if we get some actual x factor class into the assistant coaching group. But guys like Penney tend to recruit under. Here's hoping, though.

      Listen to you go coach. So you are a top tier coach then? Yeah I think you struggle all round eh

    • @Sunflower-dt6ev
      @Sunflower-dt6ev 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @whataladpodcast The data is the data. He's out of his league. The only way we win is if we get some actual x factor coaching class into the assistant group. Non-performers like Penney, though, tend to recruit under. Foster was the same. It wasn't until Ryan & Schmidt were recruited (against his initial wishes, it must be said) that the ABs got some real go forward & we started to believe we could actually win the RWC. I remain hopeful for SR with that caveat.

      @davidfife-nm7uy Hey, why get personal? The data is the data. I didn't sack Penney from his previous coaching roles. His bosses did. With a 4/10 split in SRA2024 by rights, he should've been gone after this failure, too. I love this team too much to see it kept in the sole hands of this loser, SR Coach.
