Jeff Lutz has put his finger on a key difference in Elon's approach to Tesla (and his other ventures) when Jeff points out that everything is designed and prototyped for production "at scale."
One reason Elon is able to function in founder mode for so many companies is because he has been able to recruit the best developers and lean managers and he has put them into a new model that supercharges development and the ramp to production. The second reason is because the goal of all of his companies (except X) is to get man on Mars in his lifetime. Each current company and most of their products are critical to that mission. THANKS ELON.
@@Castor364 Much better than the bots in "Door Into Summer". All of those were built and programmed for specific tasks (somewhat exception: household robot). Optimus is capable of any task, subject to limitations upon any (weak and short) human.
Right - With Elon, the technology is but a new set of tools required for, being driven by, the mission to Mars (including the "sustainable energy" as a sub-mission), not the converse.
Look further into the future Who will “own” Mars? Who will have the monopoly on everything needed for an independent life there, and the next stepping stone interplanetary goals? There’s only one person with an optimist enough set of cojones to lead that process
"Robot" comes from the Polish word for "worker", and is related to the german word Arbeit ("r-b-t" indo-european root, for work). So Robot should mean a machine that does work for you, not merely anything that moves.
R.U.R, (which stands for Rossum's Universal Robots) by Karel Capek, marks the first use of the word "robot" to describe an artificial person. Capek invented the term, basing it on the Czech word for "forced labor." (Robot entered the English language in 1923.)
My eyes opened when Andrej elucidated his manufacturing “at scale” comment as not the number of the same product, but the number of different products: robotaxi, Optimus humanoid bot,…what’s next?😳🤯
The biggest painting robot producer in the 80s was Tralfa that was purchased by ABB. Tralfa was a wheelbarrow factory that needed a more efficient way to paint their wheelbarrows.
I agree with CERN about several things, including the fact that I don't want to drive without FSD. Additional safety as well as luxury to have this advanced ADAS
Optimus was born out of the convergence of technologies. Also the realization of not needing to get to 20 million cars a year. This prompted a fast action plan to stay relevant and in the media for good or bad, but visible and cutting edge. Not pie in the sky thinking but definitely futurist thinking. Only Elon… and thank you Elon…of course just my opinion.
Incorrect - More fundamentally, Optimus was born out of Elon's Mars Mission, as was Tesla, as was everything else Elon has poured his creativity and energies into.
@@greggrant4614 an opinion is just that; an opinion. I don’t know what is on Elon’s mind. Neither do you. Convergence makes the timing right though and I like the idea of using Optimus for building out the Mars colony. Also like the Boring company for building subterranean habitats on Mars. Energy storage, and everything else Musk is involved in could also be used for Mars in some way. Optimus for the renewable and sustainable energy future? It works, but not sure that was what he had in mind.
This was a most insightful discussion by Herbert and the panel. I gleamed many interesting insights from this. Will watch this many times over to let those eureka gems sink in. Thanks Hebert and all members of the panel. We live in interesting times, witnessing disruption and transformation on so many fronts.
The only reason Tesla goes up is because it’s gonna go down the next day. Must be the most manipulated stock in history. Or at least that’s been my experience for the last three years.
Cern - We've created a new, more automated "form of labor" every time we humans have invented new tools, new appliances, new everything. Robots such as Optimus is merely another step in our most natural evolution of the tools we create to extend our creativity and productivity as human beings. Just look at the productivity multiplication that automation has led to in our agriculture. Watch out, however, for the externalities (indirect costs) that often go unrecognized until emerging later as a major crisis of some kind (health, geopolitical instability, pollution, climate chaos, etc.).
The issue with Elon Musk is he is used to making decisions and being able it adapt to earlier bad or poor decisions. He is used to be right on topics and to driving outcomes even if he is only managing or directing the work. His super power is his ability to focus, learn new things, problem solve and collaborate with the teams he manages. He also know enough to make thoughtful and key suggestions at important times throughout a businesses life. He also run his teams as entrepreneur groups. But Elon Musk comes at all this as someone who in control has goals to support his vision. His overall vision is to enable human civilization becomes multi-planetary. Every technology he develops via his Reseach and Engineering teams supports this vision. Unfortunately, his superpower and sheer abilities lead to think he know best in all issues especially if his emotions are connected to it. That is why I agree with what he is doing with his companies although I am concerned about labor issues. Disruption causes people to be concerned and fearful. I have noticed corporate and independent media seem to have many negative stories regarding Elon. I can see why he wants to defend himself but I don’t always agree either every comment he comments especially on X.

Key phrase in Karpathy's talk: "I'm bullish on FSD". Big question mark has always been if the camera approach supported by software can be optimised step by step to reach better-than-human self-driving capabilities. Currently, we know FSD is VERY good, but can't really say if it can still be improved to excellent / super-human / infallible. If the mastermind behind NN says he is bullish, this means he still sees plenty of room for improvements/optimisation processes. Folding different stacks (or libraries) into each other may push FSD to better-than-human level or even a lot beyond.
Most have never experienced Tesla UI. Those who have understand how far advanced the technology is and can see how close the next gen machines are. FUD is the only thing keeping the stock down.
A very simple example we have used for years is a store door which automatically opens at the mall..(no complaints by anyone - unless they don’t work) …. Being your own cashier at a store is a whole different story (it demands input by the customer)….
Good to see more autonomous progress, but the stock has failed to hold onto gains yet again. $217/shr as I write this. Suggests there’s still an army of non-believers. And everyone can see the continuing EV margin compression from the over-the-top competition in China. Xpeng just introduced a $16k Model 3 competitor, for example. Holy smokes. The continued hope for true FSD is the only thing keeping TSLA from completely cratering.
Few consumers buy cars on safety as the number one criteria, if that were the case Volvo would be much larger than they are. Safety is a criteria but it isn’t the most important for most people. People are looking for safe enough. What people value more is their time and convenience. FSD will sell more Tesla EVs if customers find value in the time they can regain in their lives by allowing them to do other things while driving with FSD (sleeping, video games, movies, social media, work hours, etc).
Safer, cost-effective, and enjoyable to use are key points to have Tesla as an integral part of my family's future, though the customer support structure is extremely hard to navigate when dealing with issues outside of what the software support system is currently designed to accept for responses.
BTW in my blog I said this:- imagine what will happen when you can get in your car and sleep or work your way to work? What will that do to the typical commuter towns? Where will new towns spring up? What opportunities are there to anticipate and purchase cheap properties now with a view to investing in the future.
How difficult is it to build a scenario simulator to let AI build a great amount of different scenarios to Train FSD on a much smaller amount of data? Because this could have implications on investors.

Sorry, but I had to turn you off today. I normally enjoy the show, but today you went on a Elon sycophant rant. It really makes me question your ability to be objective.
Elon already has or will soon have: 1. Reusable launch vehicles to efficiently get mass to orbit. 2. Renewable solar energy and storage to power Mars base. 3. Bots to efficiently build a habitable humanoid Mars base without the need for an Earth-like atmosphere and a food supply. 4. Renewable energy self-driving vehicles to provide remote autonomous transportation and construction. 5. Boring machines to build subsurface radiation and storm protected facilities and pipelines. 6. StarLink to provide planetary communication on and to and from Mars. 7. Automated high efficiency, low waste manufacturing. 8. High level reactive AI to manage the construction remotely with limited supervision. 9. New machine communication structures and voltages to reduce wiring and to provide standardized direct AI to actuator/machine control. 10. Advanced material refining and processing. 11. Machines to build machines to build machines and tools. ... Still missing: 1. Initial energy sources. Will likely need to be nuclear. 2. Autonomous mining (advanced boring machines and autonomous surface strip mining equipment). 3. Paving and concrete constructional equivalents for Mars. 4. Facilities to produce rocket feul, breathable atmosphere, fertile soil, construction materials, etc. .....
Missing #1: Fusion ultimately. In the near term, it should be the thorium fuel cycle systems. The physics is pretty much proven. Engineering and political/regulatory challenges remain.
Musk's fear is that once he devises a project, he needs to have it running and successful before any opposition catches on and takes the idea and gets it our before him. he wants it and he wants it first.
like a founder, working for free... if for owners. Most owners start as founders. Remember elon didn't start tesla, but he did found it. This show confounds founder with owners. A working owner proper has a lot of control that well paid managers don't have.Owners look at risk as company survival, managers look a risk as job retention

Elon is much maligned for his “ultra optimistic outlook “ but I believe it’s his greatest strength. Those analysts & investors who can’t see that are totally blind ( I am talking about the Elon of the past year or so , admittedly prior to that even he struggled to temper his enthusiasm) 🤔
You guys finally got around to the real reason. Jeff is completely wrong. Marc Benioff is one of the biggest Elon haters in all of Silicon Valley. Larry is 💯 correct and Jeff is 💯 wrong.
Shouldnt they be working on retaining existing dissatisfied Telsa customers as well as winning back old ones they have pissed off for so long with such terrible service and broken promises?
Read Asimov’s Trilogy and you realize that is what Elon is thinking. Everything makes sense after reading these books by Asimov. There is a road map there already thought out and where it might be heading thousands of years ahead of what we see and know today with Elon and all his companies.
Here is my crazy take. Elon is an extremely intelligent, multi gifted, responsible, conscientious individual, very honest and direct I consider him to be of supernatural stature. I am An Holy Bible student. I am not implying that I know the way of God. But God, times and again used nations, kingdoms, individuals to steer destiny of nations and continents. Very many strange things are piling up right now in our very travailed planet at the same time, there are precise reasons for the present situations. I think Elon is being used by God to take us in to a much better world in the future. With such a silent partner on his side, it is foolish to bet against Elon as many people will find out. Look in the next 24 months for Tesla EV driving from the assembly line to their owners address. Keep an eye on Israel for better understanding. Because it has done impossible things throughout its very short recent history because of God's will as written thousands years before in the holy scripts.
I'm a long time Tesla investor and will continue to be that. Elon Musk's political posturing is unfortunate and I think inappropriate. Of course he can say what he wants, but given that Citizens United is a reality, large money holders have an undemocratic influence on political outcomes, and so should be conscious of that when taking political positions. What does this have to do with running his companies? My guess is that some of the creative class of hires that have left have left because of this underlying dynamic, and, basically, left being unable to stomach working with someone that supports a politician that has clear authoritarian intentions. Look at the affect of autocracy on the extremely wealthy in the Chinese state: one day the government is working with you, and then you fall out of favor, are spuriously charge with something, and then you disappear. Read history, let's not be smart but naive.
The "creative types" have left.😂 So..Democrats have all the creative people. Really? The radical extreme woke left DNC is facist authoritarian and dangerous. Elon is much smarter then you. He understands the dark nature of the left. He bought Twitter and entered the ring for the same reasons he develops his companies, to preserve and benefit humanity. Also, Elon can define "woman." Being part of the Woke-Left, means you cant.
If you believed society was in an existential crisis and could do something about it, would you have the courage to help, even though it meant you'd be hated by a large portion of your base and attacked by your government? He could have stayed quiet. I think what he's done took guts.
@@mgdubya27 There is no questioning Musk's courage, and I applaud that, but both sides see the outcome of this election as existential, and having a few hundred billion dollars to inject at will is not part of the democratic process. We all understand this. Musk understands this. Use the money, and hence power, to reverse Citizens United; otherwise, money can buy the election and any political stance a wealthy person takes is tainted by the implied power behind the wealth. Your input is negated by someone with more money than you. We have wonderful examples of what happens when wealth drives politics. Just look at the take over of a potentially free Russia several decades ago by the dictator Putin through the connivance of the moneyed powers that be; then look at the outcome: trillions of dollars of resources spent waging war and siphoning money off to the rich; hundreds of thousands of russian youth dying in mindless wars; the support of global terrorist movements. All to the benefit of one man, Putin.
Almost all the fortune 500s have their balls in the vice of Blackrock and Vanguard and are being strong armed into obeying their evil objectives. Disney, Budweiser, Microsoft, etc. all are disgustingly socialist and political now. I find it very sad when people like you get upset that when even one person like Elon brings common sense back into the discussion and then brand him as being “overly political.” Give me a break! EVERY company is political now. But Elon is the “wrong” type of political. No one with common sense that cares about the future wants it filled with gender confused, big pharma filled, spineless drones floating through joyless empty lives. Elon is the only person at his level of influence and power that is actually fighting back and making people aware of how deep the rot goes. Your logic and/or information is filled with half-truths. You’re close. Keep digging. And stop believing anything from msm. Putin isn’t the problem. The 1% behind Blackrock and the NWO what you should be looking at.
@rainerdeusser if that's what you're truly afraid of, then you should support Musk 100%. He believes in free markets, not the crony capitalism that we have now, and that is worsening. He wants to reduce government (and by proxy, overall gov/corporate corruption), something neither Dem/Rep administrations have been able to achieve, at least in my lifetime. But if there's anyone that can do it, it's him.

11. Machines to build machines to build machines and tools.
...
Still missing:
I'm waiting for Elon to build a transformer (like in the movies).
Time ai piece: it will just boost Elon to make the best ai companies!
Elon's companies are like his kids. He loves them all and does what it takes for it to succeed.
Maybe you should look into his relationship with his kids...
The market for TSLA is in a state of vertigo because Elon does aerobatics continuously with huge number of passengers✈️

I love how the Larry, the Jewish member gets the brand "Golden Bull"
Elon is much maligned for his “ultra optimistic outlook “ but I believe it’s his greatest strength.
Those analysts & investors who can’t see that are totally blind ( I am talking about the Elon of the past year or so , admittedly prior to that even he struggled to temper his enthusiasm) 🤔
Tesla's Elon Musk, lol. As if Elon belongs to Tesla and one can't recognize Elon without using Tesla.
Mars too far away from sun for solar need nuclear
Read Asimov’s Trilogy and you realize that is what Elon is thinking. Everything makes sense after reading these books by Asimov. There is a road map there already thought out and where it might be heading thousands of years ahead of what we see and know today with Elon and all his companies.
Disagree, nor would it be impressive if true, that "~elon and tesla were killing it for the past few days".
All this Tesla “bull”shit doesn’t make the goddamn stock go up, at all … it’s like the stock is cursed
💪👺
Larry, when you run out of fingers you can take off your shoes and start counting on your toes.👍
I just lost half of my savings trading Tesla stock. Sept 6 2024 never forget.
The "creative types" have left.😂
So..Democrats have all the creative people.
The level of groveling and delusion is astonishing.
As mush as i like Tesla, as a European, i don't get the Trump excitement from Elon
well do your homework and you ll find out very quicly.
@@jpmb-hz3jo i do homework and i find russian payments for TH-camrs pro Trump..
An hour and 9 min. Are you kidding me I'm out at 7 min you are wasting a old mans life if you have something to say say it.

Why is this Xander even on here.. I'm getting tired of this shit.
IMO, neural net intelligence is as earth shaking a change to civilization as electricity.
