I had provable bodily damage to myself as well as my vehicle being totaled. The insurance company paid out on my "un-insured motor vehicle" policy to the tune of 45K and paid off my vehicle. It never occured to me to sue someone for 1.6M! I would not have been able to keep a straight face even with a totally smashed brand new vehicle - I considered myself very lucky all the way around. And that truck of his - isn't worth 19K on it's best day.

Luckily I had a dash-cam and proved she was 100% at fault. It's crazy how insurance companies try to get out of paying claims.
