Thank you so much. I had no idea you had to turn to silver tab key to open the back to change the batteries!!

Hi, Firstly, thanks for this informative video.
I'm planning to go on a trekk of approximately 28km. Now the etrex-10 specification says it can store 1000 waypoints & 50 routes. So, if I turn-ON the auto track-recording at an interval of 0.01Km, will this device be able to record the complete track of 28km, or it will fail due to its restriction of limited storage capacity?
I'm not sure, but in the auto track-recording mode, with the interval set as 0.01Km, will it use one of its 1000 waypoints at an interval of every 0.01Km & will run-out after recording (1000*0.01)=10Km?

Thanks Gus, an informative review. It's a very handy device so I'll likely get one soon.

A little better than the last one Gus, but this is still NOT a "basic guide (for beginners).
A guide for beginners is stuff like a person would get when they buy the unit, like how to navigate, save a waypoint etc.

Interesting video thanks Gus. I use Walkhighlands all the time. Have just purchased an Etrex 10. It seems that every time I press the light button to light up the screen it shows the backlight adjuster screen and not the screen I was currently looking at. This is a bit annoying as i have to keep pressing the back button. Is this a flaw?

Thanks for that. One question, were you using the grid references as what's on a O.S. map as the coordinates shown in the video were each 5 digits long? Or was that longitude & latitude?

Yeah very basic, I feel it's enough to get someone started using it though. If you have any questions I can try and help.

Can’t trust unit in the forest.
    Tree canopy throws it off.

I don't really do much hiking in forests so not noticed that but it's easy to believe.

Just wanted people to be aware, that travelling with no obstructions overhead is fine. But moving into the trees, and expecting the same results, can get you into a scary situation. I found this with the Tracback feature.

@@stacysmeader6228 always good to be aware of these issues. Nothing worse that people going out and trusting these devices 100% as they could end up in a lot of trouble

@@GusExplores As we are speaking I’ve been informed of mushroom pickers gone missing. The only thing worse than not understanding the Garmin… is not bringing one!
      With compass as backup.

Tommy, you're a bit thick aren't you? 'Listening to you is watching paint dry' ??? Listening and watching are different things eh? Guy takes his own time to make a helpful video and you rag on him?
