I know we must keep up with the times, but in all honesty, i wish we could somehow bring the old days back & go back to those wonderful old times, when life was much simpler and we humans were so much better connected, neighbourly and community wise. I've watched many old/historic videos of Ireland from the turn of the century and i've always enjoyed watching those. So amazing to see the Irish just going about their daily lives, back in the day. I never tire of it & it always amazes me.

    👋Hi Don,
I'm back again! lol This is the 8th time now (I think) that I've watched this video, as it's that interesting, sweet & very enjoyable!
I love the wee thatched cottages & as you stated, I do hope that the Irish Govt makes the wise decision to support and subsidise the ongoing maintenance of the thatch, as it is indeed, one of the most iconic, striking & stunning images, pertaining to the old Irish cottages/homes.
The thatched cottages IMPO, are what really set Ireland apart, so far as it's housing architecture goes & it is a very important part of Irish history & is so integral to Irish family & life going back in time.
There are actually a few old videos to be viewed via you tube, whereby you can see the qualified Irishmen removing the old thatch and redoing the new. It's amazing to view their skilled work & I do hope & pray that more Irish men and women these days, would be fully "re-trained" in this glorious field of work.
A legitimate training course ought be considered, then this integral part of Irish cottage architecture can be surely retained forever.
Don, what do you think about this suggestion?
Why not start a new modern day trend & bring back Irish thatching! If I lived in Ireland, I'd surely bring this up publicly. I personally consider it a serious subject, as it's relating to a long standing part of Irish culture & tradition.
Btw Don, you are so sweet when talking to the animals & I won't lie, you bring me a good giggle & even plenty of laughs!
We here love animals too & we often say, they're much better behaved than we humans!😅

We stayed at The Courtyard Guesthouse B&B and walked to Bunratty Castle and Durty Nelly's. The castle was closed so we didn't get to go in. So glad you you went and made this video. My sister isn't interested in history but I love it. Great video Don!!

Oh global history and Irish history is so amazing & very interesting. I do feel sorry for your sister, because she's truly missing out on getting to learn so much, about the world in which she lives. The thing is, we're all different and that's ok too, bec it takes all sorts to make this world.

@@INTUITIVENORSK2303 I hated history when I was in school but now that I'm old (60) I love history. Every time we take a trip I search the areas on the internet and learn about them. I love cemeteries too and search those in the areas we go to.

@@sherrismith9465 Oh I've always loved history, as long as I can remember, but it's good that you now love history, as it's great to continue learning every day. Truth is, we never stop learning.
Like you, I enjoy visiting cemeteries, specifically historic cemeteries & I always visit a number of them when travelling to various historic towns.
I actually had a strange encounter within one very historic cemetery in Australia & I was so intrigued that I did return there, hoping that I may experience something else, but to no avail on that specific day.
We're visiting Ireland later this year & needless to say, I'm utterly excited & thrilled. I cannot wait & I'm literally counting down the days.
When visiting the West Coast, Co Clare, Co Limerick etc; will definitely be on our list, so too, the beautiful & sweet Bunratty Folk Park.
Ps. IMPO, I think you are not old. 60 is not old. Age is truly just a number and really, you're only as old as "you" feel.
60 really is the new 50 & so on.
I know many over 60s, who could give those half their age a real run for their money! haha They're super fit, working, teaching, riding their bikes, running, trekking, walking great lengths, travelling the world, exercising, joining many hobby groups, volunteering, cooking, gardening, running wee businesses & the list goes on & on.
People are living longer these days, so IMPO, I think that my taking good care of myself is so important, so that my quality of life is enhanced & hopefully lengthened, giving me more important time with my nearest and dearest.

Hi Don, this upload is definitely one of my favourite places in Ireland. It's such a historic & magical place to me & always has been. Actually, whenever i think of Éire & Co Clare (where some of my Irish ancestors originated), Bunratty Castle and it's wee surrounding village always comes to mind. It's such a wee iconic attraction in Ireland's West. I thoroughly enjoyed this upload, so much so, that this is the 3rd time i'm watching it again. Once again, Thank you for sharing part of your life's journeys with us. It's always much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed. Take care & Peace. x
