East Jordan, MI Sentry 10V MI Statewide Tornado Drill - 3/20/2024

Had the day off work so I went up to Charlevoix County for the drill. For those of you who don't know, East Jordan formerly had this 10V and an STH-10 in pretty close proximity to each other, and the STH-10 did a nightly blast. In the past few years, that STH-10 started to sound awful, and eventually funding was secured to replace it. There's a brand new 10V there now. This town now has Two 10Vs less than a mile apart... excessive, but cool.
Tones dropped right at 1:00, and both sirens in town did a full 3 minute test. Probably the stupidest SWA ever weather wise, as it was snowing with 35 MPH wind gusts the entire time, and the temperature hovered around 20 most of the day. Nevertheless, I had a fantastic time, and I'm definitely returning to this county for next year's drill.
Charlevoix County tests their siren system annually on the Statewide Tornado Drill, and may test at other points throughout the year. Other sirens in Charlevoix County include a 2001-DC, the other Sentry 10V in East Jordan, the Charlevoix 3T22, and a Model 2. Most of these sirens to some sort of daily test.

I went to Fife Lake's STH-10 for SWA today. No one ever came to set it off. I'm glad you got something.

@@EOWS812 I can't report it. My county doesn't have a real system and could care less about a fire turned tornado siren that has gone once a year since the late 90s. It's one of only 6 remaining FS&S STH-10s with it being the last active one.

@@EOWS812 It's a volunteer station. They're only there on Wednesdays in the evenings. It's been on the same schedule since the 90s (SWA only) and isn't gonna be changed. A light switch controls it, so it can't be automatically tested either.

Glad and sad to see the STH-10 replaced, that STH-10 was at death's door. That Sentry is a great replacement and will serve them well the 2nd time!
