Thank you for this. I bake a lot but NEVER saw the term SANDING SUGAR used. Perhaps because I bake things that do not use it! I was going to go buy some after reading a recipe my granddaughter wants to try and decided to google the term. You saved me money and I know I can incorporate the many unlimited colors I can make into really fun baking times with my granddaughter this holiday season.!
As a Bengals fan.... I THANK YOU!!!!!! You will not find black or orange sugar this time of the year!!! Thank goodness I have gel food coloring. My black was coming out more green than black, so I added a tad of red. Mixed and mixed and then I got black :).
Thank you for sharing this recipe. It is very expensive to buy at the store, especially if you have a large baking project that requires it.....plus you get so little. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is exactly what I was looking for I just had to go to your video and that's it I didn't have to search around to find what I needed your video is perfect it's everything I can find on my budget and time limit as well thank you so much for your help
Glad to hear that. It is very simple to do. Do remember to use GEL food color not liquid. The good thing is you can find Gel food colors now in many local grocery store chains.
Oh my goodness thanks for this awesome video. I was just freaking out because I need black and I couldn’t find it in any of the stores. Amazon couldn’t guarantee delivery by the time I need it and it was expensive anyways. You have eased my mind. Do you ever use Wilton gels for this?I have a ton in my pantry
Ok I feel like theres a detail missing here. I used the edible marker and let it dry for several hours. Brushing with clear pipping gel then smeared it. Did you do anything differently?
I have made bunchs of it. Get it spread out on the parchment and it will be fine. But do have a metal strainer in case you have some lumps. Making some Halloween colors for glass rims will be awesome.
Great idea but in your video you show you have prepared two types of sugar - the regular granulated sugar and the finer type of sugar. This is where confusion comes in - you only show the regular granulated sugar going into the bag and not the finer sugar. Why did you show both types of sugar in two separate bowls like you were going to use both but you didn’t 🥴. So do you only use the regular granulated sugar?? Would appreciate clarification. Thank you 😊
Make it that same way as in the video. Add a little bit of black GEL food color a little at a time. I let it sit a little while when I get it a really dark gray. It darkens some as it sits.

Great idea man! Thanks. I use in my cooktails.
Wow thats a great idea on how to use this besides desserts. U will be able to have some fun coordinating colors with your drinks.
Thank you so much for sharing. Where I come from, no one's ever heard of sanding sugar hence we don't get it. Thank u so much again.
Awesome thank you very much

Hi just wondering if that's 200f or 200c for the oven temperature please?
Fahrenheit
I really want to try this for Halloween drinks. I hope this works.

Can this be used for making cotton candy?
Great thing to know, could always use awesome baking tips! :) Definitely would save some $$. :) Great video!
Would it work to put the sanding sugar into a dehydrator instead of an oven?
I don't have a dehydrator so never tried. But seems like it should since that's what we are doing in the oven.
@@davidandniko3428 Thank you.
Will the color run if I use them on cupcakes buttercream frosting?
As long as the sugar has completely dried it should be just fine
@@davidandniko3428 thank you!
I like this idea but If you heat it in the oven, wouldn’t it get melt?
No. Keep it at low heat for short time. This speeds up the drying process. But you can just let it air dry.
Is it 200 Celsius or Fahrenheit?
@@betzg2415 Fahrenheit. Thanks for watching..
Can you use a sifter rather than a strainer?
Not sure if siffter will breakup any large clumps. Worth a try. Food processor may work as well
👌❤
Do I have to put it in the oven or can i air dry?
Air drying should work. Don't know how long it will take. Oven makes it quick.
You have saved me pounds that is £ = $ thanks
Thank u for checking out mu videos
This was amazing! I’m abt to try it but I need to make 2 cups. Can you tell me how many drops to use?
It depends pn the color you are trying to achieve.Start with a few drops and work more in as needed
David and Niko Ok Thx

how to make the black color (sanding sugar black color)

Thank you
I dont speak english 😭😭😭
Why are you yelling!
He's not. Turn your volume down.
Do I have to dry in the oven or can I air dry it?
You should be able to let it air dry. The oven helps get the moisture out fast.
