    I am a 37 y/o male who has undergone two surgical interventions for pars defect in L5 with spondylolisthesis grade I (L5-S1). The first one was a pars repair with the wire but, 6 years later one of the screws got loose and had to go in for surgery again. It was a similar intervention but instead the surgeon used hooks and screws. Even though my back felt more stable since day one, I still had some discomfort (instability sensation) and back pain after playing soccer or running for more than 30 mins. It actually never felt 100% perfect, and honestly it has been extremely frustrating since I have always been a high performance athlete. I am pretty sure that my pain and discomfort is mainly for the anterolisthesis grade I...My question is...would this device be able to retract my L5 to grade 0 and am I a candidate for this surgery?
    Best Regards,
    Jimmy.

    Been looking for a l5-S1 facet replacement. Has that came out yet? I know TOPS doesn't do it. I had an SIJ fusion and it made my.l5/S1 go out.

    • @SpineConnection
      @SpineConnection  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Twerkin Alisha, our German specialists usually do not offer the TOPS or NEXUX Facet Replacement systems at L5/S1 due to the high sacral slope at that spine level. If you have exhausted conservative therapies we are pleased to provide an extra medical opinion: spineconnection.org/contact-us/

    I assume insurance from the US will not be covered and this treatment is out-of-pocket. Therefore, what is the range of costs for this treatment?

    • @SpineConnection
      @SpineConnection  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear Sharaaz, some US patients have insurance policies that cover part or all of their elective surgery overseas. Patient's usually enquire about this after we perform their remote evaluation and send their formal Evaluation Report. While we provide fixed-price packages the range of costs can vary significantly according to what each patient needs. Please contact us via enquiries@spineconnection.org and we are happy to assist you.

    I have had cervical issues for some time now. I have just had the dx injection for Radiofrequency ablation. the dx injection took all my pain away, but I am very reluctant to "burn" my nerves and would opt for surgery instead. How long is your wait time?

      I burned my nerve l3 to l5. The best thing for my back. Years in agony. Fentayl couldn't have made me comfortable. I'm pain free in that spot and the most recent MRI shows it's still stenosed in that area but I don't have that kind of pain. Good luck to you whatever you decide.

    Please explain why a facet joint replacement is more suitable than a motion preserving disc replacement (M6 or ESP) in a patient with a compressed disc? And, would there be times both implanting a disc replacement and also facet replacement would be appropriate?

    • @ab-mj1tx
      @ab-mj1tx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The discs release protein in movement which feed the nerve and the artificial facet joints can decompress the disc , also removes spinal stenosis , it depends of the patient .

      I went to Dr Clavel in Barcelona and have two cervical ESL’s and one L3/4 Spinal Kinetics M6-L on top of a L4/5 and L5/S1 and these were serious game changers with immediate 80% pain reduction. Decompression along with immediate mobility and anterior approach were easy to tolerate. In fact I was there for 10 days and was able to go out as a tourist and had fun. The remaining 20% pain is mitigated with exercise, massage and some pain and Antiinflammatory script meds. For me, I got my life back. I only wonder if the remaining pain is caused by scar tissue or facet issues. I waited many years in suffering conventional treatment which likely caused more damage. I also had the old fusion metal hardware removed - wow, that also was a game changer. There is no reason to leave these in after two years. Those damn rods were a source of additional pain. I could not sit for more than 10 minutes in a hard restaurant chair. Anything over 30 minutes in the car was unbearable. Required Opoid’s. The surgeon said my neck facets were not pristine... This promoted the question on facet replacement. At the end of the day, if the disc is compressed (shot) the nerves are impinged. The goal with the Artificial disc is that mobility is your friend and a low chance of Adjacent Level Disc Damage issues all to common with fusion. Fusion causes added wear on the adjoining discs. Both ESP and M6 have a cushion effect to mitigate Adjacent Level damage. Lifestyle, exercise, weight, health in general, quality of diet are all factors as well as older age issues.

    I have artificial disk replacement at l4, l5 after two previous discectomy. The ADR was done two years ago however I still have back and tail bone pain so bad that I cant sit for more than 10 min , sciatica on my left leg, neuropathy on my left foot. I've tried pt, acupuncture, si joint fusion, shots and I'm not carring any extra weight, Im 45 years old but my body is in pain all the time. I'm basically just miserable I can't walk right or for long 😕 Would I be a good candidate for this procedure? I have talk with my Neurosurgeon about doing a lumbar fusion but I'm thinking this might help me more and still give me more mobility. Would this still work for me at L4L5 ?
